You got me, I still like her.
any way to plug this bad boy into a PC for emulation?
Or do you have to use the knock off brands they sell on amazon?
Trying not to be grumpy here, but this was just a google search away (Genesis to USB adaptor) and you didn't need a new topic for it.
Here's one, and there's many more sites selling a product just like it.

Retard
anyone know any good retro game compilations with primarily anime styled games? preferably something that was localized, but jp imports are fine too
J-Legend Biography for 3DS, not localized. Includes various Famicom and Super Famicom games of Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Go Go Ackman, and more.
Some really good games in this collection.

Bad taste
Since I don't really have a powerful computer and not much money, I've been going through videogames that were emulatable on the Wii and the inmense catalogue that was on a PS2 (and PS1 inside of it). However, I've been thinking of either buying a Dreamcast or an N64 lately, but for some specific games, like Conker Bad Fur Day or Banjo Kazooie for the N64 (alongside others on the original hardware) or Shenmue and D2 for the Dreamcast.
Nonetheless, these games don't convince me to go either way, so, what console should I buy? Also, I've heard about the Sega Saturn, but the only game I know from it is Nights, what can you tell me about it?
DC has a more varied library (it's also a fighter and shmup heaven console) and the games have aged better. I'm currently playing through D2 for the first time and it's an awesome game.
N64 will probably be more expensive. Just the Conker cart will be more than a DC + Shenmue or D2.
>>3382747
Oh yeah, also take into consideration that the N64 and DC share a lot of multiplats like Tony Hawk, Rainbow Six, Rush 2049, Resident Evil 2, Rayman 2, etc., that look and play better on DC.
>>3382718
Get a Dreamcast. If you don't have much money, you can pirate every game on the system for the price of a stack of CD-R's. N64 games can get expensive and Everdrives aren't cheap either
Do you guys think this Nintando thing will ever catch on? (forgive me if I misspelled that)
>>3382625
>edgy controller
What were they thinking, that will never be comfortable to hold.
Also the whole "Entertainment System" looks to me like a console in thin disguise...
I doubt it. The software is far too expensive to compete with home computers, and the system is outdated. Once the 16 bit machines arrive Nintendo will be a trivia question.
>>3382625
It's emulation. How is it different than the Wii Virtual Console? It's not. Unless it can play carts, it's just the nth iteration of Nintendo selling you the same game again. Fuck that.
Ahh, SVP. I hardly knew ye.
But why was only one Genesis/Mega Drive game ever published with it, when so many were published for the SNES with the FX chips?
Video capture from Virtua Racing here.
Higher resolution version with audio (with black border cropped) here:

I have the jap cart of VR for mega drive, use it on my Genesis with the mega key.
I love it, actually. Played it countless hours even though I know it's the worst version of VR, it's still pretty damn decent.
>>3382431
oh, the pomf version of the video's also longer. neat.
How'd you not get 'interlacing' in your capture?
I blame sega going full retard, as usual, for the death of the SVP.
>>3382438
I found the US version in a game store for $8 earlier this year.
Talk about depreciation!
Behold...

I got fired.
>>3382212
Your job sucked anyway, thank the OP.
>tfw your Saturn's battery dies and you don't remember the last version of the saves you backed up to your Action Replay Plus 4M
>>3382014
That's why you use an actual memory cart instead of that useless piece of shit that is the action replay.
>sega Saturn
Serves you right for having no taste
>>3382030
They're not easy to find. I use an action replay too.
So, I recently started up Dungeon Master 2 again, because it's one of the best games out there to satisfy my hoarding urges.
And I'm just wondering, because I never got a straight answer to this, how exactly does leveling up work in those? I mean, I know you get XP for doing stuff, and the amount will vary depending on the area you're in and whether or not you've been hit recently, so fighting stuff in the beginning areas yields less than up in the Void, but if you look at the character info, there's a number of "smaller skills" within the larger.
So for instance, you'll be listed as an Expert Fighter or whatever, but Fighter has a number of sub-skills like swing, parry, thrust, etc. To go from Expert to Master, do you need to riase all those sub-skills, or just have the average be at some point? Should I be switching my weapon loadout up, or just sticking with Voraxes?
read the manual. If that isn't sufficient, play it and take notes
>>3381991
I have read the manual, and the clue books; neither mention.
And it's hard to take notes when it can take hours of grinding in a real time environment to up a level.
>Dear Diary, today I used swing 3056 times before gaining a level. Now I'll re-load and try it again, using thrust.
>>3382003
>neither mention
then you're not supposed to know at that point. So play, take notes
>it can take hours
Do you want to play the game or not? Playing a game takes time. If you don't want to spend that time, play something different.
The greentext was minmaxing bullshit, so I'll leave it at that
hey /vr/. i'm trying to get the english fan translation of mother 1 to patch into trashman's m1 + m2 gba rom. I've already tried running it with the 1+2 ips file and text document from both compressed and uncompressed files, and the game (the actual game, not just the naming screen) still comes out in japanese. advice for someone who still can't into emu setups that well?
I'm using visualboy advance and i'm on shitdows 10
>>3381890
get a gba flashcart and ds
>vba
not the cause of your problem but get rid of dat shiet nigga
mgba is much better
wait why don't you just play them seperately on nes and snes emulators
>only Ultima 6 and 7 (and Part 2) are great RPG
>the others are simply bad games
Is Ultima the most overrated series ever?
Ultima 7 isn't that great and Part 2 is crap.
5 and both Underworld are great. The first games are important pieces of history.
>>3381837
>both Underworld are great
>>3381839
Is that supposed to show me you base your opinion on some retarded video instead of trying something for yourself?
Holy smokes. After a couple of hours, I can only manage to get to stage 9 until I get mauled to death by wolf-claw-man. How does one git gud at this game, especially because I can't find a manual for it anywhere?
>>3381668
I could never get good at this game. somehow i felt overwhelmed trying to reserve ammo and not getting hit.
teleport constantly, is the reflect force to turn bullets into health
with weapons you kind of just have to find your jive. generally you want at least one to be a cheap weapon like spread or buster, and another slot to always be lancer because it has the highest range.
I end up gravitating towards Lancer-Lancer-Flamethrower-Buster myself, so that one lancer will recharge while I'm using the other one.
Learn to switch modes a lot, between the fixed movement and free movement shots. It's not immediately apparent, but the free movement mode has higher attack power (Epsilon fires the lasers with both hands), while the fixed movement silver armor mode has higher defense.

>It's not immediately apparent, but the free movement mode has higher attack power (Epsilon fires the lasers with both hands), while the fixed movement silver armor mode has higher defense.
Holy smokes, for real?! Thanks a lot for the tips, I beat the wolf man. That fish though on stage 10... Also, why does Lancer take so much ammo?
Is this game any good? I'm getting pretty into mid-late 90's Capcom and had some interest.
General Capcom obscurities thread, I guess.
>>3381603
Fun fighter, a friend had this and we loved it
I always thought, where's Episode II?
>>3381607
You should've thought: Dreamcast
I'm about to take a job where ill be traveling... a LOT. I want to build the ultimate emulator thing so i can play everything anytime, and be able to plug it into a hotel tv if possible. Maybe even some sort of multi player capability.
Do i go the laptop route? Is there a small dedicated device i can buy?
Money is not an issue.
If all you want to do is emulate, why wouldn't you just get a laptop? My 2012 piece of shit laptop can emulate everything up to the GameCube at full speed.
All "emulation devices" you'll find are made by shitty Chinese companies, so don't go that route.
As for plugging it into a hotel TV, you'll have to do some research. It should be easy to plug a laptop into a TV but it depends on what ports your laptop has. (Also, you may need different connectors depending on whether the hotel has newer HDTVs or old CRTs.) Once you've figured that out, just get a wireless bluetooth gamepad, pull up an emulator, and you're set.
>>3381527
If you have the technical knowhow, you can get a RaspberryPi and install all the emulators. Add a controller or two, a microSD card for data, HDMI cable, a case, and you're set. Total cost $100 or so, less if you already have the relevant parts. The computer itself is about the size of a sardine tin. The controllers themselves will be larger.
There's a couple of devices, like the open pandora, there's two new models the Pyra, (pic related) and the GDP win. that can do all of that, but they aren't launched yet.
The open pandora is 1 ghz, the GDP win 1.4 ghz and the Pyra 2.5 ghz.
In my experience laptops are useless in a lot of situations, it's better something that you can get out of the pocket and play.
Or just buy a PSP model 2000 or 3000, you can get a cheap cable that connects to the tv.
>tfw you'll never be able to scratch and sniff these again
This was the worst fucking marketing campaign they could've possibly used.
>>3381428
I liked smelling them. I still distinctly remember what Shroom! smelled like. Some vague memories of Carbon dog.
>>3381428
Agreed.
