I always wanted to like when I was a kid Hexen but with all the switches and keys the game never once tells you what you've done by pulling the levers I was always lost and had no idea what the fuck to do.

With nothing new I care about coming out unitl Pokemon Sun; should I try the game again? Does this annoying not telling you anything ruin the game? Or is it not as bad as I remember?

I'm a complete whore for switches and secrets but I agree that it's just tedious to play. You're sure you've found a super duper hidden secret, but it's actually just the way to continue the game.
Are there any good Hexen WADs ?

Earthbound thread

I'm looking to buy a copy on eBay and I keep seeing a ton of repro carts for sale for only like $50 instead of the usual $200. Anyone have any experiences with earthbound repro carts? Do they trigger the piracy thing that breaks the game?

>buying a perfectly emulated game
Christ, people can't even use the latency meme on this one. It's a turn based RPG. You're not even buying the original game. You've fallen off the authenticity train before you even got on.

Just play it in Higan/BSNES. Hook a laptop or desktop up to a TV, use a wireless controller. Welcome to comfy town.
>>
Why would you buy a $50 reproduction, when you could buy a $35 china flashcart and just flash Earthbound to it?

Nobody's gonna get on your dick whichever method you go for, so don't let the exclusivity of owning a game people this is rare sway you too much.
>>
AliExpress has repro carts for less.

Why do people hate on Rayman Revolution so much even though it is the best version of Rayman 2?

It has quite a lot of extra content (such as a hub world and a remixed progression system), much higher polygonal levels, sophisticated lighting and shadow upgrades and even the option to choose between voiced dialogue or Rayman gibberish.

I know it runs at 30 FPS while the Dreamcast version runs at 60 FPS, but it also looks a lot better to make up for it. Plus, platforms aren't fighting games, they don't have to be 60 FPS.

Is this just another example of people overpraising the Dreamcast (and under-praising the PS2) purely out of sympathy for the console's death?

It's mildly annoying at most. It's not like rocks populate ever screen in the game. Also the Japanese version lets you skip through the dialogue box much faster. It also has mermaid tiddies. OG B&W jap version is the best way to play.

I got one last year. I did not have a Saturn growing up but really really really wanted one as a kid.

I would say if you can chip the console, it's worth the money. Collecting can be painful if you're just filling out a collection of worthwhile games. On the flip side, this system really does have a small english catalog for its time. If you can read moonrunes then you get a great console.

also here's a review of a laser replacement SD card reader: http://www.retrocollect.com/Reviews/hardware-review-rhea-phoebe-sd-card-enabled-sega-saturn-cd-drive-replacement.html
