Hi, I am looking for great music from the 1992-1997 era like this one.
Not the remix or the Director's Cut versions but this has made an impression to me and I find it difficult to find other soundtracks that match this.
It's not the regular Le Spooky Strings like they did in the Director's Cut Resident Evil. It is more like electronic, synthesized instruments to create atmosphere.
Resident Evil 2 is not bad too but a bit more traditional Le Trumpets&Violins at times.
Clearly this has also strings but keyboard synth-strings that have that electronic edge to them.

I mostly understand what you seem to be looking for but I'm having a hard time remembering music like this from that era.
At least here's a bump for your thread since RE1 is one of the greatest games of all time.

I don't think it will be that easy to find something if it exists since Resident Evil 1 was so special afterall in many ways. So also the music was something special too.
I got some similar vibes from the Night of the Living Dead (1990) soundtrack.
I can swear that the resident evil guys for influenced from that remake.
What a great movie. Better than the original.

Have you heard of the Biohazard Orchestra? If not check out the link. The Japanese Philharmonic did (a rendition of) the score for the game.

Just marathoned this.
Was it good?
>>3500924
For sure, definitely an underrated 2D platformer.
>>3500924
Idk was it good OP?
>>3500924
One of the best games on genesis
Any good drinking games? Like with Mario Party, Mario Kart 64, mostly multiplayer games.I have a couple buddies coming over and we're going to get drunk as shit and play some N64 party games!
Play twister and form a construed centipede of sucking each other's dicks.
>>3500906
Not exactly what I was thinking of.
4 way smash, items on, everyone picks captain falcon. if you get falcon punched or land a falcon punch you drink.
>>3500906
this, except on nintendo 64
Anybody else hype for an Official Nintendo-made reproduction of the NES controller?
Little annoyed that it plugs into those shit Wii Remote connectors, but an adapter will probably be out in a flash.
I personally wish they'd make the dogbone designs available too. I find the original box controller rather uncomfortable, but the dogbone is super comfy.
>>3500845
Why not just use the SFC game pad?
I hope they do a reproduction of the others as well.
What are some good compilations to check out on PS2? Already have both Mega Man collections but I only play that with my brother since we're currently on a marathon with the platformer releases in the series. need something for myself and only have two black DVDs left.
>>3500680
There aren't that many to even consider. Just google: ps2 collection games
A bar with all of them pops up.
My picks? Probably Metal Slug Anthology and Sega Genesis Collection. Capcom is tempting, but it is two DVDs with some trash mixed in rather than one solid one.
>>3500680
The taito collection games are nice if you like arcade beat'em ups and shooters.
So im looking for a game i played when i was younger... maby 5/6 years ago...
The first act of the game begins of the player wakeinf up in thr cellar...sorrunded by books...chests...guitars and such...
After you go downstairs you can see some dead plants and dusty windows.. the whole house looks like a royal house or some kind of castle...
When you go down to the main hall...you can hear noise comming down from the floor... you move the bookshelf and find an entrance to the underground...
Once entered the first thing you encounter is a dead rat... upon going deeper in the underground you find like some kind of altair..and a door to the right that requires some kind of round...wheel like object to open...
I played the demo so i dont really remember the name
But it was a first person point and click "Horror" game... anyone know maby???
>>3500629
That kind of sounds like Ultima: Underworld 2, but that's not a horror game.
Nope...it was a pc game... and the graphics were more realostic...picture like
>>3500629
I know the game you're talking about, but this isn't retro, so GTFO.
Seriously, do we even have janitors / mods on this board?
Let's talk about this classic.
Dumping some cutscenes from the SS port
Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that the most overrated game of the PSX era never had that retro feel?
Protip: we can't.
Now that the dust has settled, I hope you sneeze from dusty allergies.
Well memed memer.

Much thanks. I'm glad to have found a fellow connoisseur of the fine art of meming on /vr/.
Lately, I've been considering selling all of my games and using the money to purchase a few EverDrives. Is it worth it? Collecting has become so expensive, and I don't think I'm going to reach a point where I'm satisfied with what I own. That being said, I'd still like to play my retro games, which is why the EverDrives are so appealing. This thread is dedicated to those who have sold their collections for one reason or another. What did you sell? What caused the decision? Do you regret it? Have you started collecting again since? What advice do you have for others?
>>3500247
I considered this for a while and decided not to sell my collection. A lot of it has sentimental value to me, and I'll never be able to buy most of these games again at the prices I originally purchased them at. I don't collect as much as I used to but I still buy a few games from time to time. With that being said I've considered getting a TG16 Everdrive just because of how expensive a lot of the games are.
>>3500247
This is what I was going to do too. After buying some of the cheaper ones, I found it hard to justify buying these things instead of just using an emulator. This also helped me realize why I sold my collection in the first place.
I'm also a huge fan of romhacks and translations. These carts are not great for hacks but good for translations.
>>3500247
I sold my entire Dreamcast library because It's cheaper to buy spindles of Verbatims than hoping to at least finds loose disc and haggle the price even lower. I also don't have to pay exorbitant prices to import JP exclusives anymore; Under Defeat and Ikagura. Pirated Quake III Arena and was able to play online back in the day which is what helped me cope with this decision. Did the same for my N64, NES and Genesis collection. I regret nothing because I've been able to play games blockbuster or local vidya stores never carried. My room looks cleaner and now have access to a closet where clothing I had originally thought I lost or assumed accidentally landed in past yard sales have been the whole time. Krikzz is the man for making everdrive. Too bad I can't play 32x and CD roms just with the flashcart alone on my Genesis until I decide to buy the add-ons.
Let me ask you, /vr/- for those of you that've played a Mega Man game, who's the first boss you beat? For me it would be Cut Man from 1. This questions doesn't apply just to Mega Man 1 though.
I start with Elecman, no real reason. Probably because I enjoy the level theme. Or at least the remixed version of it from power fighters.
I think I went with cut man too. Because I heard he's the easiest beforehand and has the best weapon as well.

It depends too much on how you play.
Promote at level 20 and your mages will be great while your bare hand fighters will suck.
Promote at level 10 and the opposite happens.
The RGN is also too extreme to properly measure your chacters with just 1 or 2 gameplays.
I can tell you don't know Shining Force very well if that >>3500158 is your list though.
anyone ever play this? I heard that for a first person adventure game it's actually pretty good, as well as having a batshit crazy convoluted story.
I'm thinking of downloading it and playing it this weekend
Oh my god this game is amazing anon. Never thought I'd see someone here know this game. Seriously surreal shit.
>>3499767
All I know is that the game's creator murdered his family and committed suicide or something.
>>3500006
His wife and their pets. She was dying. He was one of those passionate artist types more than a typical "video game guy" who apparently just chop their dicks off when they go crazy.
What are some resources for designing tile-based maps, like those in Legend of Zelda, the original Pokemon games and Earthbound?
I'm not talking about drawing and implementing tilesets. I mean actually designing interesting maps with those resources.
>>3499727
Nethack (and other roguelikes) has some...interesting tilesets, but the environment and effects were nice. I like the Dawnhack re imagining of the original 16x tileset.

Obviously meant for interiors.

>>3499727
I think what you mean is "How do I turn pile of tiles (pictured) into an interesting map?"
I don't know. I would suggest looking at a ton of world maps from the games you mentioned and seeing what you like about them.
I've recently switched to emulating genesis after a long time of playing with real hardware and a flashcart. I'm replaying old favorites now and am finding no obvious flaws or hiccups with the emulation. Has genesis emulation finally gotten to the same point as with NES, where the console is essentially perfectly emulated to the point where I cab finally stop chasing expensive carts?
>>3499517
what emulator are you using?
Been using gens and kega. Wii too on a couple of occasions.
>>3499517
Throw that shit out the window.
Use GenesisPlus GX if you want serious emulation.
Can anyone suggest any games that I can get im running an emulater and its been a while I just wanna get some suggestions.
Try Dilbert 2.
>>3499456
Lol dilbert2 wtf thanks for suggestion tho its just an odd one lol game of the year right here.
