I FINALLY beat sf for game gear this summer. When it was new, I was around half way through when a friend borrowed it and deleted my save...and then never played it, because he was a jerk. Never got into it again.
Really glad I finally beat it, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Super plain but nice.
I have also wondered about if the NA sf3 scenario 1 will allow save data transition to J scenarios. I don't see why they wouldn't nice the games just look for that data, even if I believe the endings of the two scenario 1s are different.

I like it. Love the soundtrack - one of the best in the industry. Great atmosphere, lore and designs.

if you personally don't like it, that's fine. it doesn't mean the game is bad. it only means you don't like it. given how many people have praised the game, over the decades, and have given specific examples of why they love it, I am inclined to believe that you might be the outlier.

Honestly, I figured that was mostly for aesthetic screenshots rather than actual gameplay. The art is beautiful but I know there are also some pretty fun games (assuming you know moon)

Only if he has a starman, and for a short period of time. The strongest character is Koopa/Bowser. It takes a lot of fireballs to kill, Mario can die in 1 hit, or 2 if he has a mushroom/fireflower.

If console RPGs, I think FF5 works, no class is really useless there. Most mainline FF titles can feature quite a lot of debuffing and class utility if instead of grinding you commit to using proper strats.

And there's Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

Amen to that. What gets me is people buy them on the belief they're original.

the only thing that could make this cool is removing the need for battery saves. but that price is awful and the save fix wouldn't justify that price either

The first version was written in BASIC and runs shoddily, the remake was written in Assembler and runs a lot better as well as fixing various issues.
There should be only one IBM-DOS release from 1986, everything after that should just be a repackaging.

The FM Towns port is the best. It has the most advanced graphics and actual music.
The towns and castles are no longer shown as a single screen but I don't think that's a problem.
