what have I done.
ボロボロ
I just got this game & it crashes after the first cut scene. Anyone know how to fix it?

I'm from Florida
Run it on a virtual machine, it's probably one of those games that hates newer versions of DirectX or whatever.
>Not buying an Atari Panther

Are you the guy who did this animation?
Do you have the other shots of the specs?
>>3182309
No, fuck that guy.
Previous thread: >>3165325
This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.
Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

We were on page 10, I gave you a chance. pseudo-anonymous OP this time though.
>>3182134
Yep, as an anon (>>3182114) said, that's a retrace line. I get them on my monochrome IBM terminal if I turn brightness up too high.
Here's how the G2/screen dial behaves on my consumer set (see webm). That flicker around 12 seconds in is actually accompanied by a kind of 'ping' sound as electricity arcs somewhere in the tube. I assume that shutoff point is intended to prevent it on yours.
>>3182156
>Sony PVM 8044Q. Tell me about it.
>Assuming the image and other image things are all good, and assuming I would want a cute 'lil 8 incher, is it a good get?
If for some reason you actually feel 8" is adequate for a CRT and don't mind pressing your nose to it, sure, it'll be great. One of the better 8" sets you could possibly get.
A bit old - I believe it's the same series as my 1944Q, which was made in 1989. Be sure yours is in good shape. As it supports RGB, YPbPr, S-Video, and composite (same as the 1944Q), it'll do just fine aside from being ridiculously tiny.
>>3182281
Two attempts later, here. Started at default position, turn to the right, turn to the left. If turned any farther to the left, it will eventually white out and shut the tube off entirely.
>Turned to the right
The TV does not shut off; the picture simply blacks out. You can still hear the tube.
>Turned to the left
The TV shuts off; you can hear the static discharge from the tube and a click.
I think the best results so far have been with the pots on the flyback left at the level they were originally set at. The G2 was even painted down with a white streak.
Did you have to fight your friends to kiss you when you played KSS?
>>3182221
that shit got so many laughs out of my brother and me
>>3182229
Did you kiss?
>>3182257
Not IRL, sorry.
We grabbed healing items just so we could interrupt each other at inappropriate times with kisses and giggle like idiots.
Fuck, we had fun with this game.
Remember when these were a thing? Pretty sure I had all of the Doom and Resident Evil books back in the day. Do any of you still have yours?
The only vidya novels I have are the Warcraft ones, which range from poor to fantastic depending on the author.
>>3182215
All these people saying gameplay is more important than story, and you fags go and read books about video game stories.
>>3182305
This was back in the mid to late 90s. I couldn't afford to play all the games I wanted back then so I got the novelizations.
So this is basically absolute garbage, and cannot compensate for an actual computer, right?
>N64 games run slow as fuck
>Cave Story port doesn't even launch
>SNES games don't launch with anything other than Snes9x, also run slow
What do you mean? I got cave story to run great (however, I don't believe it's retro), most PlayStation games I've tried worked well, and the other emulators bar n64 and Saturn mostly work.
Are you using a zero or something?
What version are you using, and have you tried updating? Did you place the cave story files in the correct directory?
>>3182708
It's the CS that comes with it.
I have a Pi 3, and the latest Retropie. Both Kirby Super Star and Dreamland run horribly.
It's a frontend for something that doesn't need it. Just use fucking lakka already.
So I bought this piece of shit off Ebay because I figured a basic scaler would work, and the seller has sold like 200 of these. At first I assumed I needed to turn the Dreamcast to 480p mode or maybe it just wasnt sending the 480p signal.
Of course, after a bit, I think I've figured out that the converter I got is a piece of shit and doesn't work. Sometimes the VGA light will flicker on and then immediately turn off.
What's my best bet for a fucking working VGA to HDMI converter?
NEET converter. Amazon Britain.
>>3182105
Can you link to what you purchased so we can read more about the specific item?
>>3182105
Does your screen not have vga input?
Will this ever get good emulation?
I just want to experience this game again anons...
Then get an N64 and buy a copy.
>>3182031
I know I can do that, I'm just curious as to why this game's emulation is still so poor.
Is n64 emulation that hard? or has nobody really given the time to make it good?
>>3182041
Not the guy to ask, sorry :/
Is there a bigger plague to vidya than the collectorfag?
Someone who has a lot of games they play is fine, but the kind of person who buys boxed copies of games only to never touch them is a true cancer, especially since they take that game away from a person who would actually play it. Not only that, they hoard games to themselves causing them to inflate in price for anyone who actually wants to play it legit. Pure scum.
No true cancer kills your family.
I fucking hate this "cancer" shit.
>>3181962
There's a special place in hell for the ones who entomb prototypes.
>>3181962
Agreed but not complaining since I sell to those people all the time and it finds my own retro hobby.
I don't even need to worry about more expensive games because I can just sell them when I'm done with them.
Anybody else play any of the Populous games? I was obsessed with The Beginning as a kid. I'm re-visiting it now, I forgot how fun it was.
>>3181735
Man, I remember playing this when I was like 12. I had a Sim City 3000 CD and there was a Populous demo in it. It was so fun. I loved the lava spell.
Never played more than those three demo levels, though, but I watched some youtuber play the rest many months ago. I should install it.
The Game Boy versions worth it?
I play the SNES version a few times every year, it's a fun play every now and then. I usually get drunk while playing it and get weird. That happens with almost all sim games for me though.
Was this ever put online anywhere? I always wanted to try it.
>>3181667
>Body-Conscious Quest 2
I don't understand, I'm inferring it's an ero RPG but not understanding the name.
>>3181686
It was a famicom disk system hack of dragon quest released back then.
>>3181686
Oh shit, my bad. I thought they were going for a "_____ Quest" name to parody Dragon Quest.
Yo anyone play this game on the PC. I remember playing a lot when I was a kid.
Also PC games from the 90's thread.
>>3181649
Yep. This and Hover! were my first experience with home PC games. Aside from minesweeper and solitaire and such. And of course an assortment of Apple II games at school. Shortly thereafter I got big into Descent and Atari collections. Also, Operation Neptune.
>>3181649
I remember playing a demo off a free magazine CD. Loved what was there but never got the full version.
>>3181729
I played a lot of demo disks myself when I was a kid. I can remember playing Rayman, Doom, Tempest 2000, as well as a shit ton of other games that I can't remember the names of.
I have a chinese Everdrive MD, and it runs Genesis and 32X games fine, but Master System and SG-1000 games just go to black screen. I use a 32X at all times for video output and know that some games have issues with this (Alien Soldier won't run as it claims to only be JP/PAL compatible for example). Can you not play Master System games on an everdrive MD when using a 32X? Or does it have to do with being a chinese clone? I would test but the 32X uses a Model 2 video cable and I have a Model 1 Genesis, and don't actually own a Model 1 AV cable.
>I have a chinese Everdrive MD
Found your problem.
>>3181537
Master System games don't work through the 32x, only standard Mega Drive.
>>3181579
Also, SG-1000 games won't work on the Mega Drive at all. The Mega Drive's VDP doesn't support the legacy video modes used in SG-1000 games.
Just got meself a Dreamcast for only $35. What games MUST I play for this thing?
I suppose that depends on what your favorite genre is. Dreamcast is nice in that there are very few bad games.
