my first castlevania was judgment
I bought 90% of my collection shortly after the console was replaced with the following generation.I now resell to bandwagon collectors at ridiculous profit. They even pay over hundred for a shit game like Earthbound
>cancer, the thread
Why even collect anymore?

I don't. Sold everything that wasn't a handheld.

Open up! We've received word that you left roms on your computer for longer than 24 hours!
>>3180406
Throws toaster in the bathtub.
Cums all over my belly and slides across the carpet like a little hissing snake making droppings everywhere I slide and do an epic sneak attack up a tree hisss
>implying I live in the UK
I've never actually played "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" before. You guys rave about it on here, so I finally decided to play it.
The thing is, I'm playing the Game Boy Advance port. That's okay, isn't it? There aren't any major differences between the two versions...I don't think.
>inb4 not retro
Ports are an exception and are allowed to be talked about on here.
Music is worse. Everything else is pretty much the same.
The game is so good that the music taking a hit isn't really a problem.
Fuck.
>>3177617
It's fine. SNESfags will say the graphics and sound are worse, but the fact that you can play it on the makes up for that. Plus Four Swords is a nice bonus provided you have people to play with.
What are some modern games that let you play retro games in them?To keep it /vr/ please only discuss the /vr/ part of my question
There's an ultra rare version of Duck Hunt that lets you play Super Mario Bros 1 if you know the trick.
>it's real
HOLY FUCKToo bad I'll probably never get the game
Doom3 lets you play Doom and Doom2 after you finish the single player campaign and Metal Gear Solid 3: Substance lets you play original Metal Gear after finishing the game on any difficulty. I'm drunk so maybe I'm wrong about some details.
This one's cool because it's got an owl.
And owls are cool.
AVGN isn't retro
That legitimately was a great issue.
>>3175404
So many factoids about the first years of Nintendo that would end up being parroted by ecelebs.
I don't think it was this issue or the silver MMX1 100th issue (if memory serves me right) or some other issue but there was a blurb about Famicom games that included Mother 1 (Yes I know about the "Nintendo Goes Earthbound" feature years ago).
What are some good calculators to play retro games on, /vr/?
>>3172609
Since this is here, I'll post a really decent video about the history of the ubiquity of the TI graphing calculators in the USA.

Not retro
>>3172620
Oh fuck off. We discuss emulation devices here all the time.
So this released. Does anyone who owns it know if the Master System Version of Fantasy Zone is included or not? I am getting mixed messages with no reviewer mentioning it, but Sega's blog mentioning it in their most recently translated interview, without mention of it not being included.
>>3170692
Well it's a remake but yeah its a remake of the SMS version.
>>3170701
>calling someone a cuck
Get a load of this underage
>>3170692
I'm seeing Fantasy Zone II to be precise. Apparently they made an FM audio soundtrack just for it.
>>3170728
>So we switched out one song, but before we knew it, somehow all the songs were completed. Kasuga said, “We’re placing the notes within the range of the Mark III Fantasy Zone II audio driver, but there’s a lot of bugs typical of an early-age driver so we’ll fix the bugs and then program it into this one (Fantasy Zone). “ Within 2 or 3 months, most of the songs were finished.
Seems kind of ambiguous to me. SegaNerds review also make it ambiguous.
>I am told that Fantasy Zone 1 is included here as well but, like the Japanese release, you need play data from the first 3D Archives game. (SEGA 3D Classics Collection 2, anyone?)
How do we fix this podcast?
Stop talking about Luna and talk more WWE for one.
/vr/ - Eceleb Shit
I actually enjoy this podcast. It's done by two people who know what they're talking about, more often than not, and some of the banter and stories from the atari/nintendo age forums is new to me because I don't go on that site... Though I may check it out someday.
IRL pat is kinda a douche, Ian is nice as fuck
as far as fixing the podcast, Pat...we know you have a book, hell i might even buy it, but i swear to god if I hear it 3 times in an episode I dont want it anymore
is there a list with 3D games running at 60fps for fifth gen consoles? if not, can you recall them? on the top of my head I recall F-Zero X, the Tekkens, IS: Internal Section but not many more... I didn't have a Saturn so I can't tell about it. Can you help me? I'm interested in trying them
>>3179231
IQ / Intelligent Cube runs at 60fps.
>>3179231
http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?26920-Games-with-3D-graphics-running-at-60-fps-5th-Generation-Consoles
F-Zero X is the best game on the N64
Einhander is the best game on the PS1
5th gen is worse than 3rd and 4th.
>>3179256
That list doesn't even have Dynamite Deka / Die Hard Arcade listed under the Saturn. Dropped.
Do you guys knows of any checkers game for the NES,SNES of even Master System?

Is Night Dive Studios the publisher /vr/ deserves?
They've been publishing a bunch of great retro games, some popular, some more obscure, and bringing them to Steam, usually with some updates and trading cards. A few they've done so far are
>System Shock 1 & 2
>Turok 1 (and probably 2 eventually)
>I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream
>Strife
>Shadow Man
>Sword of the Samurai
>Harvester
>Noctropolis
>Slave Zero
>Tex Murphy series
>Dragonsphere
>The 7th Guest & The 11th Hour
>Sid Meier's games (Pirates, Colonization, Covert Action)
I trust that when they publish a game I hadn't heard of, like MadSpace, Eradicator, or Slave Zero, that it's some good shit I need to check out.
>>3173165
When you see the roster of shit they've brought to Steam, it's certainly hard to say otherwise. They seem like a standup group of gents!
>>3173165
I'm addicted as shit to Covert Action. It's been a while since a game made me skip work just to stay home and play. I was really excited to replay turok at 60fps with no fog too. Yea, Night Dive is badass.
>>3173176
I first checked them out when I saw they brought Turok to Steam, noticed they had a few other games I really like but had bought on gog already, and decided to try two that I hadn't played before (Strife and Harvester). Both games were great, especially Strife. Going to get a few more of their cheaper games while the sale is up and snag System Shock too. Turok I'm still waiting on a bigger price cut for, I ain't paying more than 5 bucks for something I played on my N64 2 decades ago.

Oh man Jackal is awesome. I don't see it get nearly enough love.
Is Unreal 1/2 worth playing nowadays? No one ever talks about these
Unreal 1, definitely. Return to Na Pali... maybe. Kind of a mediocre expansion.
2? No. Just fucking ignore 2. It was goddamn awful.
I'm assuming you haven't played them before?
If you have, why are you asking us if they're worth playing?
2 has the gall to be worse than halo.
