Is it actually good or just another tropefest?
>just another tropefest
It's decent, but if you go into any type of old media thinking like this you're just asking to be disappointed.
it's good but S2 surpassed it in every way IMO
worth a playthrough

I am told that some flash carts have save state features.
How does this work technically?
What buttons do you have to press to activate it?
If I feel uncomfortable with the inauthenticity of this feature is it possible to disable it by solder/desoldering something on the PCB?
>>3181374
Instead of disabling it you could just...not use it.
>>3181381
if the save state device were to fall into the wrong hands the consequences would be disastrous beyond calculation
it must be destroyed
>>3181374
Just go into the flash cart settings and disable save states.
This is not virtual reality board.

What do you mean? Of course it is!

Hey /vr/
I was wondering where I can find cheap master system carts. I don't want to pay 80$ for an ever drive, the perfect scenario would be a "1337 in 1" game cart (kind of like the nes ones you can find on ali express). On ebay the lowest price for a master system game is about $10 with shipping.
Also, master system general
>>3181000
You can play Master System games with an $80 everdrive, on a MD/Genesis?
>On ebay the lowest price for a master system game is about $10 with shipping.
Also that does seem pretty cheap..
>>3181034
I want to test out this SMS.
Thanks for the input though.
>>3181000
Not sure if anything has changed over the years, but multi-game pirate SMS carts were extremely rare, at least in the horizontal western style cart shape.
The Game Gear got a lot of pirate carts tho, despite being more or less the same machine.
I'm trying to play H.E.D.Z. again, which is a fantastic gem I played in my childhood. But I can't just install the game on win7 as it gives bit incompatibility or .dll missing errors. I'm guessing it's because I'm on Win7 and this is a very old game probably for Win95 or 98.
How can I run this game on win7?
no idea dude but I played that game back in the day, was pretty fun so bump for you
I've owned that game for years ans never had any luck getting it to work on 7, even with compatibility mode.
Your best bet is to set up a 95/98 VM and go from there, unless you have access to a dedicated old PC.
Where to even find a full game to download?
So why is it that no one can burn copies of games on to something like PS1 CDs and play them without a mod chip or disk swapping or whatever the fuck people do? With how large the custom cartridge market is getting, I would have thought someone would have figured out how to make CDs of rare games that the Playstation or whatever your system of choice with an optical drive would just play without having to mess with the guts. Whats the mechanical process involved? How does a console know if a disc is burned or legitimate?
Actually the reason for this is simple: Sony didn't use stock CDs, they stamped a Sony copyright notice on the disks which the console checks for on startup, therefore the only way you could add this feature to a CD is if you had the original factory pressing equipment.
They already have... For consoles that don't have have a security ring on the CDs.
So no one's figured out how to duplicate the copyright notice? Or is it just not worth the trouble of replicating the process to get the copyright notice on the disc? I would have thought some shifty chinaman or other would have figured the thing out and started pressing copies of expensive games.
So until yesterday, I thought the first Shantae game came out on the Commodore 64. I was roundly, fairly abused by all my game bros.
I seriously can't get this out of my head, though - what fucking game am I thinking of? Is there some platforming franchise SIMILAR to Shantae that goes back farther than 2002, to older computer/console systems?
Wonderboy

There's no way. I think I might just be a complete idiot.

Here you go, the entire Syphon Filter music collection, from the first game up to Logan's Shadow.
Are the old Elder Scrolls games worth experiencing? I'm talkin' Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire and Redguard.
Experiencing?
Sure.
Completing?
Maybe not.
>>3180342
Arena - not really. Daggerfall and Redguard - definitely. Battlespire is hit or miss depending on your preferences and tolerance.
>>3180342
I had more fun with arena and completed if, dagger fall is too much of a buggy mess. Never played the others.
Where were you when Treasure made the most fun fighting game of the '90s?
ah yes, Obscure Fighting Game No One Plays But You. Truly a piece of video game ambrosia
>>3180214
is there a translated rom if so link?
>>3180219
Obsure? That anime/manga was decently popular. The mangaka's currently still doing Hunter X Hunter.
How do people input special moves in emulated fighting games without using a joystick?
I've been having a hard time making anything besides a Sonic Boom in Street Fighter II without breaking my keyboard.
Sincerely, i prefer keyboard more than joystick to perform combos on fighting games.
Its a question of costume, in the course of time you gonna can make hard combos
>>3180112
well, OP, if you're playing the Turbo versions good fucking luck. They are way harder to execute with a controller, arcade stick or keyboard. do it faster
I bet you can execute it if you play SFAlpha 3
>>3180112
what's wrong with his hair?
It's time.
That attack was so cool the first time I saw it.
The next four times it was kind of boring.
>>3180139
at least it's not FF8 where every single battle took nearly an hour.
Game art thread? Game art thread.
>>3179937
zeldafag plz go
Videogames aren't art.
Here's a What If which includes two Points of Departure:
1. Satoshi Tajiri invents the idea for Pokemon much earlier, in 1980 instead of 1990.
2. Engineers / Technicians at Nintendo make several breakthroughs in electronic technology, making the NES console a bit more advanced than in our timeline.
While the console is released on the same date (1983 in Japan and 1985 in USA), it is more advances, being a 16 bit machine instead of 8 bit.
Furthermore, it has better Save/Load features (similar to Playstation's Memory Card). The console also can receive input from two cartridges at once.
In 1986 Nintendo releases Pokemon Red and Blue versions for the NES.
The ability to insert two game cartridges into the console allows players to trade Pokemon with each other.
What are the effects of these changes?
Pic related.
>What are the effects of these changes
>Nintendo makes a more advanced console earlier
>Price increases dramatically
>System sells like shit outside of Japan and Nintendo never becomes a global powerhouse
>Video games in the west stay mostly on PCs which becomes the most popular way to play them
>Casual gamers never come to be
This is a timeline I want to live in

Thread for the lively discussion of arcade games and machines
do you like arcades ? come hang out !
nowadays theres not many cabinets other than full body experiences or other kind of machines that you cant easily replicate in home systems.
do you happen to know a good arcade center? share it here !
>set up GroovyMAME with crt_emudriver to output pure RGB signals to PVM
>have every single arcade game playable at native resolution and refresh rate
>only ever play Wonder Boy
ive seen a few half arcade cabinets for around 300€ empty
is that a good price? I wonder if its worth buying one if it doesnt even have coin box
