How did one go about actually purchasing a Neo Geo AES and games back in the early 90s outside of Japan? Most sales must have been through import stores and such, right? It's not like Toys R Us would have had a big selection of AES carts to choose from.
>>3194451
Specialty stores and mail order most likely.
>>3194452
It must have been. I've always wondered about this because I grew up in a small town and the Neo Geo AES was always this nebulous, mythical console that I only saw in my video game mags. I'd imagine specialty stores like EB only sold it at their locations in big markets like New York, L.A., etc.

What was it like inside before they moved and Zynga took over?
>>3194305
I have driven past that sega sign on 101 in SF since I was a kid. Zynga and Sega where located right next to each other. Sega's logo is still up on one building. I guess Zynga bought their old building? Zynga is not doing well right now either. I always wanted to go inside. Now they moved to LA which is probably better since SF is a safe space hipster war zone now.
here is part of their "archive" of lost source code.
>>3194386
cant read shit but Grandia 2. Also they would't have source code for games developed in Japan. Thats up to the Japs.

No, but a damn fine choice.
3dfx vs Direct3D vs OpenGL
Which one is better? Are early 3dfx games better than D3D? At what point in time has D3D superseded it? When given the choice, which one you choose?

Can we have a Saturn thread? I'm thinking of bringing the old boy out and use Pseudo Saturn but I'm not sure what to play.
There's a lot of arcadey games on it.
I need to play Burning Rangers and Bulk Slash but the first time I played them I didn't enjoy them too much.
Everytime I use the Saturn I end up playing fightan and shmup.

played some of this but its not as impressive as i though it was

So what do you think of caveman games?
It's an olympic style game from 1988.
nicely memed my friend.
I also watched it on cinemassacre, let's pretend to talk about the game.

It is surpisingly detailed for a shovelware-looking NES game, a few laughs are guaranted but nothing else IMO.
Mash A to win.
What good submarine games are worth investing time in? I don't mind the "boring" ones where you have to do a ton of planning to play correctly.
I just played a bit of this Silent Service game. It was primitive but now I realize that there are submarine games around. What else is there worth playing?
My mother's husband used to play Aces of the Deep back in the DOS days. It's one of those "games only you played" so I don't know what the word on the street is. Anyway check it out.

Yeah aces of the deep is the best. Watch das boot then play that. There's a pack you can DL somewhere that comes with everything you need to play on a modern pc
>>3192457
Where can I get the original Silent Hunter? Not on Steam, not on Piratebay.
It's unfair that Kirby threw this game into bizarro realm, because of Nintendo as a company

So I just beat Zelda II. I expected it to be ball-bustingly GnG hard, but it really wasn't that bad. 33 gameovers, I think. I had a great time while playing it, I think it's my favorite Zelda game now. The combat was fun and the game overall felt fresh.
Also, I'm proud to say I beat Shadow Link or Dark Link or whatever the legitimate way(not the pussy way of being against the left wall and thrusting). There is a trick to it, I'll give you a hint.Think about what portion of the triforce you are supposed to be receiving
Nice blog faggot
Nah you're okay. Good for you that you got yourself into 2D platforming ARPGs. They're a good and underappreciated genre. Hit up Faxanadu next then if you can handle that report back.
>>3191461
Faxanadu was pretty easy actually.
Battle of Olympus would be an up in difficulty I'd say. As long as you don't read walkthroughs.

I-I was just trying to get a Zelda II or Zelda overall discussion started... pls no bully

Yeah, I've seen some Faxanadu stuff and thought it looked cool. I've got some other games I want to play but that's pretty high on my backlog. I haven't played Popful Mail and that looks like it'd be really up my ally so I'll probably play that first and then get around to Faxanadu.

How does Mario leave the castle after destroying the only exit?
>>3190809
He uses the axe to make a hole in the wall.
He didn't destroy the exit, it's probably beyond the screen with the toad.

Who would put an exit in the same room as the prisoner?
