Post great Japanese games that will never get translations or rereleases.
>>3138118
It's not that great, honestly.
Megaten games that actually deserve a translation are If... and Devil Summoner.
>>3138348
Funny enough, I would translate this but I don't know how to hack and insert the text. Hook me up and maybe something will get underway.

I like all kinds of shmucks.
if the deal with sony hadn't fallen through and they weren't delegated to a non-game console, do you think the CD-i zeldas could have been good?
>ALTTP with loading times and anime cutscenes
maybe
You've got to be kidding.
>>3179538
thing is, the cd-i games are a direct result of nintendo handing the IP's over to philips after their deal with sony went wayside.
If things went ok with sony, the end result would have in no way resembled the youtube poop fuel we ended up with.
Has anyone here bought/used this (PS-IO)?
- Does it live upto the hype?
- Is it worth the high cost? (150AUD = 143CAD, still pricey)
- Easier to physically mod a smaller portion of your system (Switch Board Kit) versus a larger modchip?
It's truly tempting, and I do believe nothing like it (PS1 FLASHcart) has come out before, so it's a "part" of a flashcart collection that'd be missing, but I'm not sure it's really worth the cost.

they're sold out, dumbass
I'm sure you can find something better to spend your money on
They're not available yet. Only preorder/beta got it.
Read the forum.
There are a few shitty bugs from what I remember reading.
Some compatibility problems too.

In relation to this unit, or in general?
Why don't you suggest me some better things then, but you are correct.

Cool to finally see what it played like.
Also kinda glad it got canceled because if this is the best they had to show for ces it probably wouldn't have been very good.
Post retro games that you loved to get lost in, and could play for hours, make almost no progress, just wander around, and not even know what happened.
You posted it. Shout outs to Wet Dry World. I used to play on that level just to dick around as if it was a playground.
I also fired up Bob-Omb Battlefield just to surf around on a turtle shell. Almost a proto Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, if you will.
Hey that's every game ever made if you play it shitfaced drunk.
Let's talk about one of the best sci-fi RPG series out there, /vr/.

That video's really sad.
Are we allowed to talk about episodes 2 and 4?
>>3168284
Seeing as Ep2-4 run on the PSO engine, why not.
Well, why /vr/?
Because underage don't know PSX was the name used in the first year of PS1
>>3163851
Playstation X was a codename and it stuck. Deal with it, you fucking muzzie.
I have no idea, but this "thing" started elsewhere many years ago.
My main suspect would be PS1 ISO sharing websites. They are bare-minimum venues for piracy that couldn't care less about proper terminology.
Whatever, that's my 0.02.

Retro computers are more fun and interesting. And useful.
Besides, can you get BoP on a SNES?
Hey /vr/ I purchased Mischief Makers on N64 today. While testing it, I saw the game has a gorgeous sprite based style just from the intro, and it's a perfect example of why we needed more 2D games in the 5th generation of consoles. I feel like gen 5 is the perfect sweet spot for 2D games - consoles like the saturn and n64 were capable of 3D, but when they stayed in 2D, the result was for some gorgeous games; unfortunately developers solemn left in the safe zone that was 2D games. Symphony of the Night, Yoshi's Story, & Guardian Heroes are some notable examples. Post some 2D games from the 5th generation worth playing.
There's tons of great looking 2D games on Saturn and PSX. The N64 is really the only console that had a vast majority of 3D games.
I don't have much to add but thanks OP. I agree completely. Mischief Makers and Guardian Heroes are two of my favorite games of all time. Treasure really made the best games.
>It's a 3d is shit shitpost.

First for Memento Mori is inconsistent
Your opinion on Bart's Nightmare
A game which has all the fun sucked out of it by its bullshit difficulty. I could only ever beat the tomato-hucking level.
>>3177015
Wait, I just realized I'm talking about Virtual Bart. But what I said applies to that game too. Both the SNES Simpsons games are pretty awful.
>>3177015
That was Virtual Bart.
On a scale of 1 to Mail, how popful are you?
>>3175332
0/10 because I'm not a cute anime girl in a leotard.
>>3175470
>0/10
>because I'm not a cute
Actually that alone puts you at like, 7/10
I'm pretty popful, I think.
Sega updated all of their MD/Genesis games on Steam to launch from a 3D hub designed to look like a 1990's bedroom. More than that, they've added Steam Workshop support, meaning people can upload "mods" (i.e. romhacks).
https://steamcommunity.com/app/34270/workshop/
So far, most of them are just garbage sonic hacks, but somebody figured out that you can just upload an entirely different ROM and call it a "mod", even if that game isn't for sale on Steam. Currently, Contra Hard Corp is listed as a mod for Sonic the Hedgehog.
I would never pay for ROMs, but maybe this will help popularize romhacking and inspire people to get into it.
>>3175030
>I would never pay for ROMs
Whenever you buy a physical game you're paying for a ROM.
>>3175050
Thanks for the pedantry, anon. Very much appreciated.
>>3175030
I like it just cause of how comfy the UI is.
Bedroom with a CRT in the corner and adjustable time of day.
