VA fag here, I've been doing some reading trying to make plans for the future, and while looking at places to live I found the Utopia of N. Arizona. So far this place seems God Tier because
>Most based gun laws in the country
>Based immigration laws
>Innamountains + innawoods
>temp range similar to VA (fugg hot weather), average summer highs around 96 and lows around 60 in lower region summers, still decently cold lows in the winter, really cool and plenty of snow in the mountains
>Not too many libs, mostly just hippies instead of tumblr tards
>overall pretty great
Can anyone provide info about this magical place?
Anything I should be aware of?
Also which cities are not small and depressing but arent Phoenix?

N. Arizona here
Flagstaff or Prescott are probably your best bets if you want to live in the high country in this state.

Flagstaff is the largest city by size (70k) and sits at around 7000 feet, this summer has been pretty hot but usually highs are in the low/mid 80s.
Flagstaff is a college/tourist town and has a lot of hippy types and outdoors enthusiasts.

Prescott has a smaller city population (~40k) but feels much more like a city thanks to the proximity to Prescott Valley, Chino valley, and Dewey-Humbolt.
Prescott is only at ~1 mile high so the summer highs average in the high 80s/low 90s but gets above 100 a few times during the summer.
Prescott feels much more wild west than Flagstaff and has more amenities since it's really a 'tri-city' area.

Both places see snow in the winter, but the cycle is usually: 2-3 days of snow then about a week of sun that melts most of the snow, then repeat.
Flagstaff gets quite a bit of snow but it's rare to have more than a foot on the ground for more than a few days.

There are other, smaller places in the eastern part of the state too.

Hey /trv I'm here in Vietnam and I'm not sure what to do. Situation is a little complicated, but I'm in HCMC, for a month. A 6-7 white male since I gained weight(not a lot, was solid 8) from US, mid twenties.

It would be nice to meet someone to fuck and build a strictly for fun relationship while I'm here- but just enjoying the country is my goal. I'll take any tips for anything. Google just give some basic noob tourist shit.

Tips on meeting girls.
Tips on places to go and eat.
Tips to not getting in trouble. I heard porn and prostitution is illegal?
Tips on not being an idiot foreigner.

What I kinda liked in HCMC: go to the park near the tourist area, just read a book or something. Students will come and want to practice English with you. Spent most nights there as I'm not into drinking.

Also, go to Dalat, and do some canyoning. Didn't really see much special in HCMC. But for cheap clothes it's the best place to go (i found it way better than BKK).

Random thoughts:

Use Badoo. Tinder works too but I had an easier time meeting interesting girls off of Badoo all over Vietnam for whatever reason. Get the extra credits and buy the "extra shows" and you'll be set.

It's a conservative culture where all girls live with their parents. Unlike in most "conservative" cultures, though, the girls truly are difficult to get with.

There are relatively small numbers of "bad girls" that will sleep with you on the 1st date - but you won't know until you actually invite them home. Most girls don't drink anything. Every girl acts innocent and you need to avoid making them feel like sluts - invite them back to your place to just grab something quick, or at most watch a movie.

Start dates early (6 or 7PM) because they will need to be home by their curfew (often 10PM).

The sheltering of the girls means that they're very immature. Talking to a 22 year old viet girl feels like talking to a 15 year old American girl.

For hookers you can get a BJ at any number of "hot tocs" during the day. Or go to any number of clubs to pick up freelancers at night - the ground level of apocalypse now and the upstairs of one of the clubs on Bui Vien is full of them.

You can't bring a girl back to most hotels, so be careful and look up the girl friendly ones before you book.

Thanks for the legit replies. I'll try all of that. I have just the book, too. Oh- I know 0 Vietnamese. Again, why I'm here is complicated.

My friend is from VN. And says he gets new ladies almost every night while he visits. He's already back in the states. I would call him out on it, but he has pictures to prove most encounstates. He keeps what he knows a secret. He's not handsome or anything either. Maybe he pits on a good front for being rich.

I'll update later this week, in case any of you are curious to see how your advice worked.

Thinking about relocating to another country and living there in the long run. How to know if I will get used to life there? It's not like I will quit my job to go backpacking there. I get the impression that traveling to another country for a few weeks will be different from living there in the long run.

Yup. Which is why you should at least spend a month or two or three there, and make some local friends, before actually moving to be on the safe side

How do I into coachsurfing /trv/? Never done it before but looking through profiles atm for where I am currently travelling and like 98 percent of hosts are men. I have the feeling that male hosts will never accept a male guest. Am I right? I also kind of feel like I am sponging by doing this to travel but desu it is pretty appealing as I am on a small budget and want to keep travelling for as long as possible. I am also questioning if the effort and time required to send a bunch of requests is really worth it compared to just spending 15 dollars on a hostel? Your thoughts?

i'd say start with hanging out with people from the community first, get some positive references and then you may have better chances of being hosted because of your positive reference rate

Hard to believe it was a broken router that took 12 hours to reboot.

Maybe too US-centric for here, but still damn curious.

Heard that out of SFO they'd put people on planes, only to pull them off again and make them wait until the next day. This three days after the problems started.

Any tips on forums where I might get some real info from fellow travelers? Google only leads me to the official news articles.

Hey /trv/.

I realize this might not be the ideal question, or the ideal sotuation to ask. Just about three hours earlier I have been rendered completely homeless. I don't have a car, any other means of transportation, anyone I can call for help and nothing to my name except two grand and a backpack without any survival essentials. Now, I know the /out/ commuters here are probably banging their heads mad reading this, but I am sort of between a rock and a hard place. I'd love to go travel outside the US, but as I understand my situation should dissuade me from doing that. All the local shelters near me are rubbish and I'd like for once to get some fresh air.

Tell me what to do, /trv/.

To me, you're free. If you feel like travelling, go for it. You have nothing to loose anyway, and everything to gain. Experience, maybe even a job with some guy who just needs help and doesn't care about taxes.
It would be tougher in countries which are poorer than the USA, though.
Good luck.

Hello, /trv/ this is my first time posting here and I come seeking advice from experienced travelers who have traveled the U.S by van / truck with camper cover. Me and my wife are planning on traveling for our first time freeballin' as soon as we can have enough money saved after purchasing a van. Any suggestion as to what type of van would be best for ease of access to parts / Mileage / and cost if possible. We also have 2 mid size puppers that will be going along with us. Any advice pertaining to traveling is GREATLY appreciated.

Kinda wanna go somewhere different for a couple weeks, driving up from WA, was thinking about Drumheller. Has anyone here been and is it nice? All I see is dinosaur bullshit and that mostly fime with me.

A couple of weeks is a long time to spend in Drumheller. It is a prairie town, boring as shit. It is a one trick pony, worth a visit, maybe even worth an overnight, but if you are out there, lots to see/do in Calgary, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenays.

Badlands and Tyrell Museum are good. This time of year there's a lot of families road tripping to there.

As already said, it's something you can do in a couple of days.

Hi guys, I want to visit Koln for a week (monday until sunday). can anyone recommend me some good things to do, hotels, places to look at and so on? Thx

went to cologne last january, a week is too long unless you rent a car and visit the surrounding villages. we spent 3 days in cologne, then took a 10 euro flight to berlin for another 3 days.
>>
>>1141813
>>1141817
I agree, a week in the city itself is too much. You can get a feel for Koln in 3 days. It's not that great.
>>
If you are there go to Bonn. It's easy to reach by train or Stadtbahn (U-Bahn line 16 and 18)

And go to Düsseldorf. Also easy to reach by train or S-Bahn.

ok... dont know about romania, do you have maybe a russian shop somewhere close to you? if yes go there and ask for a russian travel agency

here in germany there are pretty much in every big city at least one travel agency owned by a russian. They know what to do. You give them your passport, evidence of work/university, ravel insurance and i think 80 € and you get your visa within the next 3 weeks. they get a fake invitation for you.

if you are staying for just one week you also dont have to register there because you got 7 workdays time.

What is a good itinerary for Italy if I have just one week during December?

Should I just go to Rome for 5 days and Florence for 2 days?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
It depends on your budget. 5 days are enough to see most important rome places, 2 are perfect for florence. In my opinion, you can sacrifice 1 or 2 days in rome to see another city if your budget is ok with travel. You will have some more intense days in rome but anyway be able to see everything you can't miss.
>>
>>1141824
What is another city that might be good along with Florence?

Here are some ideas I have:
>Naples + Pompeii
>Siena
>Venice
>Cinque Terre
>Milan

Some concerns:
>Naples
I've heard a lot of bad stuff about this city
>Siena
Maybe this city just needs a day so that might be good.
>Venice
I've heard it's touristy, cold, and floods in December
>Cinque Terre
I've also heard this area would be cold and dreary during December
>Milan
Maybe there's not a lot to do here?
>>
>>1141751
>Should I just go to Rome for 5 days and Florence for 2 days?
yes those 2 cities for 1 week. But, how to divy it up would be your call. Note that for Florence you have to RSVP one of th museums you'd wish to see. Plan ahed.

Check with Rick for all things Italy (and ireland too), he'll condense your itinerary, minimize line waits, figure it out in a way you will appreciate. https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/itinerary
