Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

Had to create one, since all of the threads I browse are swarmed with irrelevant stuff, I can't even think of the whole /trv/

I start.

Are hostels guest-friendly? Can I bring over a girl (Hooker or someone I picked up)?

Does it have to be double room in order to be able to have guests in your room? (Doesnt have to be over-night, just an hour)

Sorry your getting no traffic my /trv/ansexual. I have no answer but I have my own hostel related question. How do you even find out about these places? Very specific internet searches? I want to use hostels but I don't know how to find them.

You google 'hostel in lovation'

Just as with hotels, each hostel has its own policy regarding guests so who knows? Ask the hostel and find out. It's not hard.
If you're too autist to do that in person, send an anonymous e-mail.

In a few weeks I'm travelling to China to teach English. I'm excited but at the same time I'm also pretty scared. I'm 21 and this will be the first time I travel anywhere alone, everywhere I've been has either been with family or friends. Any advice from who's done this sort of thing before?

I mean you'll probably be looked down upon a lot. White english teachers are basically the Polish plumbers of Asia. That's not to say you'll be ostracized. Especially if you speak Mandarin, which you obviously do. Generally just try to have fun. China is a great country with a lot of cultural history and beautiful scenery. If you get some free time, check the country out.

Hi /trv/. Im a latin american staying alone on Brussels for three weeks and have no idea what to do with my time. How do I have fun here? What is there to see or do? Which places around the city to go? I can leave and go for other cities or countries but can't stay away for more than four nights. Recommendations?

burssel is a shit, go to amsterdam or paris (personaly dont like paris)

brussel also has a pretty big airport. look for wizzair, ryanair or easyjets flights. You can easily find some destination wich costs less than 100 € roundtrip in europe. If you got luck even for 20 € rounttrip

Go to Brüxsel Jardin tomorrow at Tour & Taxis. Go to J'peux Pas, J'ai Piscine next Wednesday. Visit the Cantillon Brewery. Go to the aub-svp rooftop picnic. Go to Bozar. Go to all the museums on Mont Des Arts.

Canadian here, I really want to travel down to Mexico. I understand most tourists stay in resorts but that cant be the only option. Are there places in Mexico that are safe for travellers? I really want to visit that country, but I dont like the idea of being kidnapped, decapitated or having my corpse burned inside a van.

literally even national highways are untravelable because gangs with armored vehicles will raid and kill travelers

are you a fucking idiot? mexico is probably the most dangerous widely traveled country in the world. it's murder rate is comparable to wartorn middle eastern countries
>>
>>1144713
>are you a fucking idiot?
I dont think so. Just had no idea, its why I asked.

> it's murder rate is comparable to wartorn middle eastern countries
If thats true, that sucks. Cant even experience other cultures and countries, thanks to faggot gangs, rebels and drug dealers
>>
>>1144711
Only way to travel around Mexico is having a good grasp of Spanish. On the highways, you'll either be a victim of drug dealers/ gangs or get hassled by police officers until you give a hefty "mordida" (bribe). Without some Spanish, you get fucked over by the locals.

>>
>>1144619
Read the sticky, you don't need to bump your thread after 4 hours
I haven't personally used rideshare, I prefer to hitchhike as it is free and you can go without an itinerary. If you're looking to "see the country" outside of seeing a roadside for 40 hours or so, I recommend hitching.
PS it is illegal in Nevada and New York, you can and will get arrested, so don't
If you are a pussy ass bitch who can't make it hitching then just do rideshare

Hello /trv. First time in this part of 4chan.
Can you guys give me some tips about visiting NY and Philadelphia?
I am planning to visit USA for 8 days in October.
What are the places that I should definitely visit and what places should I avoid?

Btw I am from Europe.

Why Philadelphia..?
I visited NYC once and spent 3 days there, which wasn't nearly enough.
You might as well just spend a whole week in NYC
>>
>>1144553
How long do you plan on being in Philly?
>>
>>1144568
Im flying in the Philly because its cheaper than direct flight to New York

>>1144597
It depends on if there is anything worth to visit.

OP, eat at major brands of 4star hotels for dinner (or lunch to save money). They'll carry whatever continental foods you like, or basic mild versions of local food, but they'll also be equipped with filtered water, will scrub their vegetables and autoclave level of sanitizing dishwashers so you don't catch Hep A and other food borne illnesses. Chain hotels tend to have corporate paid chefs, year round, and the restaurants can have nice decor, nice location, barely anyone there, and be a nice little treat, especially the bar chats you can have. Obviously you don't have to stay there to dine there.

Bring a box of favorite nutritional bars in your luggage, for fiber protein and vitamins, in case you are out and about need to do a skipped meals if necessary. Buy fresh fruit that you can peel at markets, or take one from your hotel breakfast for later (ask waiter, you can even pay for a washed one if you ask nicely). Wash and peel market foods for yourself back in your room, or have something easymode like a banana or orange (can pack an orange peeler device, or in checked luggage, a swiss army knife or multi tool). Seek out very cooked foods that are usually alright the world over, such as takeout pizza or hamburgers (skip LT). Bakeries exist the world over where you can get a coffee and some kind of innocuous toasted bread or pastry fresh out of an oven. Pack drink mix packets and stick to bottled water, and not the cheapest one in the store.

India is one of the best culinary destinations in the world. Easily top 5. Do you not like any vegetables? Or curries? Or breads?

When I went McDonalds in Delhi was the place that gave my friend's food poisoning. Just eat at places where you can see your food being cooked and make sure it's hot.

Hey guys!,

I'm an electric engineer/technician from europe and I would love to live in the US and start a life/family there but I have some questions ^^

1)
Now- I don't know which state to move to.
I'm looking for a ,,quiet" place, with many friendly/down to earth people, less degeneracy :D, a nice landscape and kinda good weather conditions all over the year :D

2)
Is it hard to find a decent/good paying workplace as an ,,electrician"?, and how exactly do I apply for a job?I have work exp., I'm fluent in english etc

3)
How exactly do people pay off their mortgages? :D, like with a income of 60-80k $ a year and a house value of like 200k $ people are working their whole life just to pay off that mortgage :/

4) How much should the annual income be for having a ,,good" life? I'm scared that I would end up being broke all the time :/

Yeah- these are my main questions ^^

1.
If you're looking for quiet places that are degeneracy free, try the flyover states, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Wisconsin, etc. These places can get very cold in the winter. It is pretty remote, so if you're looking for a place that's bustling then those won't be your places. Oregon (other than Portland) and Nevada are great places as well, Oregon has beautiful forests.

2.
I'm not so skilled in that, but you might want to try North Dakoda, as they're experiencing quite an oil boom over there and there are plenty of people moving in, which means there are plenty of people trying to get their houses wired, and building new houses!

3.
It's a very difficult thing, and buying property in the US is a very big investment when it comes to taking out mortgages, but try to be conservative in your choice of a house/apartment/condo!

4.
When people make 100k or more, that is generally the "good life," "making six figures" is what people call it, if not that, 70k would be the minimum for a "good" life, and 60k is kind of pushing it.
>>
>>1144132
>Is it hard to find a decent/good paying workplace as an ,,electrician"?, and how exactly do I apply for a job?I have work exp., I'm fluent in english etc
There are a state and county licensing steps. Electrical engineers are different than electricians here. The latter need to appreciate up to journeyman, get certificates and what not. I think they are in high demand, but not in every city. Tell you what. Pick a climate that you desire. Winter, no winter. Dry. Humid. Flat. Mountainous. Predominately english, or diverse immigrant population. You might just pick a coast closer to East coast if you intend to fly home to Europe often to see family. What country you from? What is your religion?

One you pick a few states to choose from, you go to cost of living indexes. Compare salary vs housing and utility prices, and you come up with your quality of life, the amount of money you can save every year for retirement or spend on luxuries. There will be places with expensive housing like Miami and Washington DC, but unlike Washington, in Miami people make about 30% less income for the same exact jobs. And insurance is much higher in Miami, from homeowners to car insurance. So, relatively speaking, you can get more ahead in life in Washington like 40% better: take more vacations, dine out more often, maybe have a nicer car, pay off your house sooner, and so forth.

Thank you guys!,

I'm from germany, christian/agnostic(don't know really ^^),

I prefer ,,hot" areas
I don't like forrests and big cities etc
beautiful blue sky with white woolish clouds
preferable english people, a good place to start a family/find a partner,
away from the west coast
a normal home with a small backyard garden

a place away from all the problems in the world :P

These would be some key-word's for my dream life ^^

Hello, first time poster here. I will be travelling to Budapest next month and staying for 3 weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me or general information. Aside from staying away from the tourist traps such as those girls who get you to buy drinks for you etc. I will be staying in a hotel (also wonder about the plug in situation if i should bring an adapter for mah electronics?) on the pest side of the river and just trying to soak up as much as I can before getting back to the bullshit daily grind. If anyone has any tips or do/don'ts with the locals and attractions I would be very beholding to you.

See if you will be there during the Buda wine festival in the castle grounds Sept 8-12? Good local music and all the wineries in the country!

Mmmmm, wish I was going to have 3 weeks in Budapest. You'll be able to do it all. In fact, I think you should probably train around outside of the country a couple of times.

Since I dont know what country you're from, I do suggest you look and see about adapters. Their voltage is different than US/Canada, for sure.

Sziget festival is awesome, I'm there every year, wouldn't miss it for the world

anyways, three weeks is plenty of time to get to know Budapest and its surroundings, so what I'll do is just greentext you a couple of sights you would probably miss out on otherwise

>Elizabeth viewpoint atop János hill
>Gül Baba's Tomb (a nice hike uphill from Margaret bridge on the Buda side)
>Aquincum and the scattered roman ruins all over Óbuda
>Szentendre (a quaint Baroque town north of Budapest)
>ruins of a Benedictine monastery on Margaret island
>the old Jewish cemetery in Kozma utca
>Szemlő-hegyi and Pál-völgyi caves
>escape rooms
>the Gázgyári lakótelep in Óbuda, a fairy-tale apartment project from the early 20th century, right behind Aquincum
>Epreskert (a gorgeous secluded park in the downtown area - entry is tricky though, you have to bargain a deal with the security guard first)
>local public transport company BKK's cheap as fuck river cruise
>a Tesco Disco party (they're usually held either at Corvin Club or aboard the A38 ship)

if you have any more questions, shoot

Poor Britfag here (19M), just wondering how much money people generally spend on flights to Europe. I travel quite a bit for somebody with very little money, in the past year i've travelled to:

Dublin- £9/each way
Poznan- £8/each way
Budapest- £23/each way
Amsterdam- £35/each way
Verona- £17/each way

Can I do better?

Are there other similarly/better priced destinations that I am missing?

How does /trv/ find cheap flights?
Are there better websites than www.skyscanner.net?

What do you guys think of cameras while traveling? I was thinking of getting a dslr before I went on vacation, but I was looking at some of the pictures I took with my phone, and while they definitely not as high quality as a dslr (like on /p/)... they seem, good enough I guess to capture whatever I wanted.

I'm leaning towards just using my phone. What do you guys think of cameras while traveling?

>>
>>1143970
I've used both a dslr and just a phone when traveling; the real camera is bulky enough (especially when I bring along a telephoto lens) that it really makes sense to me if I'm going somewhere especially photogenic or expect to have time to dedicate to taking pictures. Phone would not have sufficed on my Kenyan safari or Tibetan hike, but everywhere else it's good enough for snapshots. But my answer is colored by the fact that I'm not a very serious photographer to begin with.

There are plenty of small, point-and-shoot cameras that take high quality photos, though--if you're really into photography the dslr may be a good buy, but you can probably get surprisingly good shots with something smaller, too.
>>
>>1143970
I appreciate good photography, but I'm certainly not a good photographer. That said, I can't stand the added bulk of a camera that doesn't fit in my pocket. And at that point, why not just use my phone?

Phone with a nice camera does it for me. As with the previous Anon, I don't go places with the intent to take pictures, neither as a job nor as a hobby.

I'm happy with pic-related quality levels.

don't know where you're from, but I doubt you'll be safer in NYC, Chicago, LA or whatever than in Germany or Belgium. The chances of you getting killed while being in Germany or Belgium are probably as high as those of your plan crashing.

So canceling the trip for safety reasons would be retarded, though I don't get why you're going to Frankfurt and Belgium out of all possible travel destinations

Would it be worth moving to eastern Europe from Canada if I'm a musician and want to be able to live cheaply instead of being a wage slave?

Any bros have suggestions regarding this? Are crime rates much higher? Is it better to live poor but happy doing what you want and not working over 40 hours a week, than to live in luxury but be a slave?

You better be damned good if you're a musician and plan to sustain yourself on that in E. Europe. I guess this is true anywhere.

You still need to land a comfortable job, but I what I think you will find here is that life is a lot more relaxed, with decent money you'll earn good money and you'll live in peace and comfort.

Compared to the rest of the world, it's pretty quiet here, no violence or minority, refugee stuff. Crime is low, too.

Serbia is the most turbulent country that still has some kind of Muslim issues, but they've been there decades and no grand stuff is happening.

Romania and Bulgaria are your best best for a civilized, completely peaceful, cheap, beautiful and interesting land to move to, with enough opportunities to be economically sound.

Pic related, I was a recent national gathering.

Or, you could finish your education, and at least get a better wage so that you can retire early or have more money for free time hobbies and travel.

Do you have a EU passport? Good luck working without one.
