"Rules": http://pastebin.com/JuTyfdDr

Last time on Heritage Ship Quest, our bold captain Solomon the Ceph discovered a love for Corvid techno, dusted off his old plasma shotgun, and found out his new engineer is a little racist. But who isn’t?

Later, he spent some quality beer time with Deg, where we learned a little bit about the history of the Hot Needle. Our current destination is the far flung system of Kerls, on the edge of some dicey space centred on the backwater of Freerock.

The adventure continues…

______________________________

A low tremor rumbles through your body, jolting you to a slow wakefulness. Empty beer cans float across the dim, gravity-less room; they glint eerily in the mottled blue and green lowlight. As you gather your senses, the ship’s intercom comes crackling,

“Rise and shine beauties, time to put your shoes on!”

You grumble: Deg’s “endearing” antics are far from the first thing you want to hear this early in the morning. Weariness draining out of your body with each movement, you slide into your exosuit, stretching and morphing into its humanoid shape as its pneumatic seals hiss shut.

Heavy steps echo throughout the hallway as you once again make your way towards the cockpit; the remainder of the five day voyage out to Kerls passed uneventfully: minor maintenance, casual drinking, and cards helped to speed the passage of time, but you are glad to be at your destination.

>>
Cockpit door already ajar, Deg sits in the pilot’s seat with his feet up, one hand clutching a cup of coffee and the other one of his strange Felinid “cigarettes.”

“Good morning cap, get enough beauty rest? Man knows you need it.”

You huff in his general direction, making your way towards the minifridge,

“I really need to disconnect the intercom, maybe then I can get some decent sleep.”

You sit down next to him, cracking the eye-wateringly coloured can of Instanergy.

“Is that it?” you gesture out of the viewport towards the grey blot that grows faster and faster before you.

“Sure is cap, Kerls 2. Boringest, greyest rock this side of Constantinople.”
You pour some of the noxious, fluorescent green liquid into your grille, instantly feeling the electric buzz go to work at waking up your brain.

“It better not be. I didn’t schlep halfway across the galaxy for boring and grey.”

If what Deg’s contact said about the relic was true, this whole trip would be the best investment you’ve made in a while.

Just then, the ship’s computer pings; a priority transmission. You hit “Accept Call” on the screen, and the strange warbling, clicking Cetacean dialect of Prime comes through:

“Unidentified spacecraft, you are entering secure space under the sovereignty of the Cetacean Republic. Please identify immediately or turn back.”

Location: Unknown Planet

Information: With rule over Planet Afhan secure, Daikon sent his team out into space in order to locate a planet worth conquering. Azu and Soko reported worlds that sounded promising, but communication with Sabi was lost. Travelling to Sabi's last known location, Daikon's ship was shot down, crash-landing on an unknown world. After a brief but intense skirmish with some machines, Daikon and the others have fled into the nearby forest, and now begin their search for Sabi.

Welcome to Saiyan Quest. This takes place shortly after the war against the Tuffles, as the Saiyans look for more foes to battle in the absence of their old enemies.

Voting will operate on a first to five system, at least for the time being.

Dialogue is allowed to be added to votes, as are actions (though I'll ignore what I consider shitposting)

During battles, options will usually have a number assigned to them. After that vote has won, players will roll a d100, and have three chances to match or beat that number.

If a 100 is rolled, it is considered a crit success (unless 100 was the number you had to match).

If a 1 is rolled, it is a crit failure, regardless of whether or not the other two rolls are high enough to succeed.

If, during a battle, players want to attempt a writein action, that is allowed, but I am the one who will assign the number to it, so use caution

You're a young male Saiyan who fought in the war with the Tuffles. You are an average fighter for now, but have the potential of one of the greatest warrior races to roam the universe flowing through your veins. There is no limit to what you can accomplish through blood, sweat, and tears.

Power Levels (as of the start of this thread)

http://pastebin.com/JvPqwvaU
>>
Your scouter gives you a basic idea of what's around for several miles.

Some sort of city is not too far off, and according to your scouter, the average power level there is in the low hundreds. However, you also detect a few power levels over 1000 in the city, which is enough to make you consider your options.

Farther away, you detect an isolated group of power levels ranging from 100 to over a thousand. Perhaps it's some sort of outpost.

"Well, doesn't look like anything's coming for us just yet," Rugula comments. "Betting that will change pretty quickly once we show ourselves, though."

"How should we take this?" Toma asks. "Start knocking down some cities? Or should we check out that smaller group of powers?"

>A. Cities

>B. Small group

>C. Split up

Time to meet some Samurai, ah yeah.
>>
After your first sleep in a month that wasn't done sitting on a flower, you wake up feeling quite refreshed. You get up and make one last check over all your gear, then head downstairs for breakfast. Your uncle already has a spread ready for you while he digs in, himself. You sit down and start eating as he makes some conversation.

"Back for a day, then gone again. What a schedule they've got you on." your uncle sighs. "But it just goes to show how important you've become, eh? Land of Iron is a bit of a ways away. You'll probably be gone another two weeks. Well, good luck. I'm not really privy to all these politics, but from what I've seen of him, the Hokage is a fine young man. I'm sure everything will work out. Just make sure you try and stay a bit longer after this next mission. You're gonna run yourself ragged at this rate."

After you finish eating, you thank your uncle for the advice and help him clean up. You leave your house with a bit of time left. You could head straight to the gate to meet up with Neji and Itachi, or you could use the extra time to run by somewhere real quick.

How do you play a somewhat dim character, /tg/?

I'm not talking "giggling at mushrooms and talking like the Hulk" stupid, but just a little dimmer or not as analytical. I always find myself breaking character because I tend to overthink and plan out what I do, but I sometimes find DMs that wonder if that's really in character for who I'm playing.

I'm playing a 'dim but wise' druid soon and I want to get it right.

There are so many variables even when selecting individual skills that this thread is essentially incapable of reaching a satisfactory conclusion.

Because he's an abomination which exists for the sole purpose of preying on sapient beings.

Being an animal which preys on a man because he is convenient prey is one thing. A beast designed specifically for that purpose is anathema of all things related to human self-preservation, one of the keystones upon which the tower of human morality stands.

Okay then. ITT we discuss how to go about running a R&C campaign, starting with the level of technology. For the sake of comparison, let's pick the Star Wars universe as the baseline.

So what is /tg/ opinion on rolling dice vs drawing cards in rpgs?
34 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>43895715
Card drawing has some incredibly complex numbers associated with it, and deals heh with shit that dice just doesn't, like shuffling and card counting and discard piles and whatnot.
So balancing it is an order of magnitude harder than dice. Not to mention dropping a deck of cards blows.
>>
>>43895779
True but I think there's a nice element of the derminalism of drawing from a deck of cards rather than the truly random roll the die. Plus if you drop a card you're not gonna have it land in your shoe.

>>43894139
Some armies really benefit from BL books. Not always, but some. The Night Lords are one, since the codexes play them up to be one-note crazy fucking morons.

Path of the Dark Eldar did the same, where the codexes made out the Dark Eldar to be much the same as the Night Lords: crazy murderhobo fucknuts. Path of the Dark Eldar showed that they had a method to the madness of their society, that there was a structure and even stores and shopkeepers, and manic backstabbing, while certainly part of their culture, had a time and place, and was generally not allowed to occur on the streets of kabal-held territories.
