How does /tg/ feel about mutations?

This may make me sound like a special snowflake but personally I get pretty uncomfortable thinking about my character growing extra body parts, or losing them, or having some other strange mutation. If you step into the mindset of more old school games where characters are more expendable, I can see it happening a lot easier.

But seriously; how do you handle mutations? How often do they come up in your games? Do you think they are an annoyance, a horrible thing, or more funny/dynamic roleplaying opportunities instead?

I agree, I guess. That's over of the harder parts of playing Black Crusade or other games - I just don't like most of the mutations and I would rather get something nicer or not be mutated at all than be blessed with a third arm or some animal bits.
>>
Also I sort of fucked up on the OP, I meant mutations as in mutations you get from events that happens, not necessarily being born with them.

Like get hit with certain magic or touch the shrine of a chaos god; get a mutation. Maybe rolling on a mutation table.

I've had experiences with it from dark heresy. It really varies game to game since the vague ones can royally screw the players (i.e. the obsession one in dark heresy, make it for dirt since hive worlds have none), can be fun, might not be since developing an extra limb all of a sudden should effect RP potentially killing the PC. If it's a damning effect, I've offered rerolls especially when it's super early game. So case by case basis I guess

Had a couple questions for my anons of the 41st Millennium.

First can a Baneblade take embarked units?
If so can an Enginseer start the game embarked on it?

And then some discussion on the new Tau book. The super heavy support company says to select 1 super heavy but the table says to select 3. Was wondering if anyone could clarify

As a Chaos player, i've been a little annoyed how underpowered we are at the moment, when you consider that most of our best firepower comes from Forgeworld, and most people won't let you run FW unique stuff outside of 30k games.

So, I pose you the important question, /tg/.

How do you fix the underpowered Codeces without breaking them? I mean stuff like Dark Eldar, Chaos, Orks, Blood Angels, etc.

Diomedededes is always relevant

For Orks, it's easy. Bring back Looted Vehicles and give Choppa's a weaker rending, like, 6's To Wound are resolved at AP-3

I've said it loads of times exactly how to make them runable:

1) Bring back Mark of Undivided (only make it something like "All units gain ATSKNF, all units with ATSKNF, Fearless and Zealot instead gain +1 leadership" but make it standard on all units, with the mono-marks being an upgrade. Also, the Undivided mark removes any mono-god restrictions (E.G. a Sorcerer of Undivided would be able to take the Nurgle Discipline, but ride a Disk of Tzeench.)
2) decrease the points for the Mono-god marines, making their costs multiples of their gods number (E.G. Berzerkers cost 16 points each, Plague Marines cost 21 points each, Noise Marines and Ruberic's cost 18 points each)
3) special Vehicle marks of the gods (E.G. Khorne gives them rerolls to wound, Nurgle gives them +1 to all armour fronts, up to a max of 14, Tzeench gives +1 invuln, Slaanesh allows them to move 3" before determining what speed they are moving at.)
4) Khorne Berzerkers get to take a 16 point, each, upgrade to give them Juggernaut mounts.
5) Half the cost of the Palanquin of Nurgle (That shit is NOT worth 40 points)

I point out to the GM that such a creature grossly violates the laws of reality, and unless he rectifies this mistake into something more realistic, I'll let everyone at the game store know he's an awful unrealistic GM, and leave to take my business elsewhere.

You were just winding down from all the death that just ensued, and then Marrius gets killed and zombies attack.

Sure, they were really weak and nobody was hurt by them, but... In the aftermath, those guys got away with the Galeforce axe.

After another few moments of muttering, Sheena just... Passes out on the spot, much to the concern of her pegasus.

It's clear that nobody is particularly in the mood to do much. Finally, putting away her flask, Une is the first to actually try to take charge of the situation. "Alright, I didn't know our boss, this Captain Impostor lady, or that loud kid very long, but you can't really waste time mourning for them here. We have to alert the authorities that there are bounties to reward, and then move on with our lives. People die in this profession. Be sad about it while we work."

Yancy is the one to respond first, disagreeing, "gr... She's right. There's... Nothing to gain lingering."

You feel like this is around where Leigh would raise some sort of moral objection, but she's just... Upset, clearly not up to it.

>A. Yeah, we need to carry on
>B. Don't be so callous!
>C. You don't like that you agree

"I... It pains me to say it as much as you, Yancy, but yeah, we have to hurry along." You recall Yone's conversation with Leigh the other night. "Yone doesn't belong here. He has to get back to his home settlement."

Leigh looks over and nods slowly. "We should just... Return to Elza Oasis as fast as humanly possible. See about getting back to Tordo from there."

You respond, "I doubt Irene would mind. Gods, she's going to be devastated to hear that Marrius died, I'm sure..."

That evening, Calof volunteers to stay in Ulir and handle the rest of the company's business there, "make sure Sheena gets home safe."

"N-no..." Sheena says, shaking her head in response to that. "I... After what we've just experienced, I can't just... Go back. I came along to decide if I wanted to join or not, and..."

"And I'm still gonna have to strongly discourage it," Calof interrupts.

"Hey," Une says, offering Sheena her flask (she politely and wordlessly declines), "it's a person's right to throw their life into this line of work. Not really your business."

"I... I want to do this..." Sheena mutters. "Marrius was going to let me in!"

>A. Marrius isn't exactly in charge anymore
>B. Let her if she wants to
>C. This is a bad idea. Discourage her.
>D. You're staying out of this one
>E. Write-in response

You awaken to the feeling of Abigail nuzzling your chest.

For a moment you're disoriented, before you remember that you decided to sleep in the bed last night. Moriarty is next to your hand, sleeping peacefully and looking fuzzier than normal after you blow-dried him.

It doesn't seem like Abby is awake yet. She somehow ended up on top of you, with her head on your chest and her arms hooked behind you. So you aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Which is just fine, you have a lot to think about before you even think about getting up.

Yui is dead.
Boss is dead.
Dwight is dead.
Jess is dead.

And as if that wasn't enough, Kyla is also dead. Kyla the apparently not so immortal goddess, who just so happened to be your patron in this blood sport. She was also your friend, if that matters anymore...

You still have your boon, but you have no idea how things are going to go now. Can you even go into the Arena anymore? Is the Scholar your patron now? Too many questions, none of which you'll be getting answers to anytime soon.

Then there's Jess. Her daughter will still be at home, hopefully. Jess mentioned that she would go into the care of her sister if anything happened to her... But Sarah probably doesn't know yet. Hell, Claire doesn't know yet either.

You let out a sigh. You think you're done thinking for the time being. It's too depressing.

You grab your watch from where you left it, beside you on the bed. It's 8:00. Still early. You can also see that the light on your phone is blinking, indicating that you have a message.

Too many things to do. You'll have to wake Abby, and then... do one of them... No matter how much you want to roll over and go back to sleep

Welcome one, and I welcome you all to the tale of a world called Thespia.

Here is the odyssey of one that clings to this world with no face of their own! In a place where magic is fundamental to all of creation, all who live wear their lives upon their face, where a fire might wish to be the cooking fire of an inn!

Previously the Faceless set boundaries with a clingy Protean foxwoman, letting her know of his role's status as a widowed man. Bereft with guilt, she had begun to flee yet the faceless urged her to stay.

Feeling that the rebels could potentially become a greater fighting force with the right "Allies," The Faceless incites them to seek out pacts, finding the old innkeep, Valce a friend in a simple campfire while the Huntress, Oddette, made do with a far more vicious partner.

As she performed her trial, The faceless assisted Mira in getting her two pacts to work together and let the girl train on her own as he fell into slumber and saw visions of his Face's past.

His old allies and friends under the cloak of night and a young Hylon King by the name of Acer...

What trials shall we overcome? We shall see.

Rain falls outside of the cabin, some droplets leaking inside to wet the dusty floor. Thunder pounds upon the night of this labor camp with a deafening chorus. Darkness pervades, and yet still you see clearly the massacre within. Guisi slaughtered by the mysterious lunatic guard, and the bodies of whom you suspect to be Odette's children lay among them, especially brutalized.

Another crack of lightning illuminates the dark, and it brings color to the bloody cabin. You remain in quiet silence as Odette awaits on guard outside, she knows not yet what transpired within, her eyes are not as keen to pierce the veil that is the night.

“We must tell her.” Whispers the reaper from within. “If it was I, I would want to know.”

“But is the time right?” You return. “Already, she's at her limits, this could-”

“We are liars, imposter!” The Reaper yells out. “Yet we do not lie to each other, such is the kinship we Guisi have.”

“I spoke not of lying, only... Waiting...” You say with a whisper, a knot choking in your throat.

“She'd kill them all in her rage.”

“Reaper? We need to keep moving, the rain is coming down harder. I fear for the others.” Odette calls in from outside.

Your breath grips tight as you rise up from one of the bodies, a leaking droplet of the pouring rain splattering against your cheek, stinging the lingering cut.
