Fans of 'roll %, try to get under your skill'; How does the defender effect what I need to roll? Does a big bulky dude have the same chance to be hit as a nimbly dodgy guy?

A fair amount of systems give a bonus to hit larger targets. As an example, Rogue Trader gives +10 to shoot large targets.
>>
>>43926836

Depends on the system. Usual response is a bonus to hit easier targets and modifiers dependent on what your target is doing.

These. RQ6 gives you a bonus, if I remember correctly, and if you get it you'll probably need it.

In real life, and as such in many fantasy settings, it's pretty common for crooks to have all manner of tattoos and shit to display others their status and deeds. But in what manner would other races and cultures perform this kind of marks? How would you know that elf over there is a real badass humanslaying ranger boss?

I'm particularly curious of the more hairy monster races - bugbears, gnolls, minotaurs, dwarves, etc. - because all that fur obviously makes it impossible to tattoo them at all.

I'd guess elves could have tallies or notches on their ear for every kin slayed. As for hairy races, patches of baldness with tattoos or magic-ing their hair to grow in a color pattern could work. That Bugbear with yellow stripes on their mane might be a professional vault cracker.

Last night, you slept little and dreamed even less.

Your name is Mia Vespucci, and you found that second part far more agreeable. Although your dreams, recurring things of darkness and impending suffocation, have been far less traumatic of late – strangely enough, the knowledge that they were dying memories from a past life made them far easier to cope with – you still tend towards waking suddenly and violently. A habit, formed early in life, is not easy to break in later years. Regardless, this is one morning that remains undisturbed, to your great relief. You've got other things to think about.

Things like finally rescuing Marco, your father, from the clutches of his demonic captors. Tonight, the night of the full moon, will be the moment you've been waiting for ever since this whole ordeal began so few days ago. You sooner you're ready to move, the better – it's just a shame that nobody else feels that way. It was closer to noon before all of your companions had assembled, each one bearing excuses of their own. Joseph had blamed the strong painkillers he had taken for his damaged face, while Leon was in a drunken stupor. Laziness and nervousness accounted for Petra and Cassandra respectively, while Elliot kept his silence.

Fine. So be it.

“Well!” Amelia announces, the cheerful lilt in her voice betraying the frustration beneath, “You all seem well rested this morning!”

Afternoon, you add quietly, this afternoon.

“Right,” Amelia still sounds distracted as she nods in your direction, “So I don't want to see anyone napping off. Now, Mia, why don't you run us through the plan?”

The plan, of course. The same plan that Cassandra told you last night, in a quick rush of words before she retreated into her borrowed bedroom. You're not quite sure why she isn't the one giving the orders here, but you don't have the time to worry about it. Instead, standing, you run the group through the plan. Meeting up with Sati in the demon world, you would all enter the tunnels beneath the auction house and march to the Lady's domain. When she is out of the way – defeated, forced to surrender or otherwise removed from the equation – you can use her portal to enter the Intoxicating One's fortress. From there, Marco. After rattling that off, you ask if there are any objections.

“Actually,” Cassandra says slowly, “I don't think we should commit all of our forces to one path. A diversion could draw a lot of attention away, maybe you could slip in and out without being noticed.”

A feint, in other words. Biting your lip as you think, you then ask Cassandra if, perhaps, she has some kind of ulterior motive – some other motivation to attack from another angle, perhaps?

“I want the guardian beast dead,” she says simply, “There – it's not ulterior any more, is it? We should divide our forces, half down the tunnels and half above. That way, if something happens – some delay or anything like that – we won't suffer too much.” With her point made Cassandra falls silent, gazing around with defiant eyes.

But Leon gets to go with Cass. Bastard might end up killing Marco, at this rate.

Petra goes with us. She's not very subtle, but that fire sword means business. Joseph's packing some fire too.

I don't suppose we can item that ice oni into a null ice item for the tunnel team, or just lend it to someone in said tunnel team?

We stare down the hole that just swallowed Kara, easily deep enough that the thin lights in the woods doesn’t penetrate to the bottom.

My master is peering down the whole, and testing its depth by kicking a rock in. He listens for the impact, as it strikes soft dirt. “Twenty feet, at least.” He sighs. “More than enough to snap your legs from the fall.”

I peer down into the dark as well. “We have to get down there somehow though.” I reply. “That thing- that man took her.”

I notice the corner of his mouth twitch at that. “Funny that.” He remarks dryly. “You heard what he called her.” His grip tightens on his staff as he kicks another rock in. “He called that girl ‘honey’. Rather a familiar title to be used between our little friend and this person who nearly killed us, don’t you think?”

I catch the sound of soft nickering and tramping boots. Ashwyn and his pikemen are approaching slowly, still marching to his poorly timed “One-Two!”s.

“Honey implies a very few specific relationships. Either familial or romantic.” The spook continues. “Either way, evidence points to her being a bad egg.”

“HO!” The squire calls, spotting us through the trees, he directs his men towards us. “Found another entrance have you?” He asks, a playful grin on his face. “We’ll need to find this beast, and sharpish!” The men roll their eyes, fidgeting with their nets.

>Look around for another entrance, there’s got to be one
>Ask to tie their nets into a rope, quick way down.
>Ashwyn, ride back and get more men, this is serious.

What does the Imperium consider to be "heretical" when it comes to porn? Is there any "big no nos" for that kind of stuff in the Imperium?

>>
Whatever Lorgar said so. True father of the Ecclesiarchy and the Imperial Cult.
>>
Depends. Everything feeds a chaos God in one way or another, but some have more of an effect than others. For example, porn of a human having consensual sex with another human might be a minor boost, but a human, sheep, and Eldar doing Warp Dust off a dead Tau's face while masturbating on each other would feed Slaanesh more.
>>
>>43925724
You don't understand what Slaanesh is about.
If it's not excessive, slaanesh couldn't give half a flying fuck.

Consensual sex would mean nothing unless it went on for like a full week, not stopping.

The kinkiest BDSM where you fuck seven midgets and a horse, while children are being skinned in the background and their screams are being autotunes and mixed into a live DJ set would probably attract slaanesh's attention, but there isn't a half a chance that slaanesh cares about your minor kinks or you masturbating twice a day.

The break is over. I'm back!
-----------------------------------------------
Summary so far: You don't quite get why you're here and if this is not some kind of weird dream, but there are these goblins, this castle and you're referred to as the new 'overlord'. You already got your first set of armor and led your first expedition into the forest, hoping to find something of interest there. And you kind of did. Also you started rebuilding your caste.

Now rallied your troops, momentarily consisting of nine goblins, and left your castle, heading towards the A'Kash Mountains outside your castle. You hope to find something or someone interesting there.
After only a short march you find a good spot to set up camp. Kislax, your sergeant, asks you for what to do now.

Good question. What do you want to do now?

I've passed last 2 weeks studying a campaign for Pathfinder
Pretty standard setting with nothing special, stealing ideas here and there.
I manage to form a group with Game Finder players.
Everyone has got their sheets and we're ready to go
After 2 hours we're into it, one of the players (call him good player) leaves, but then explains he has a family urgency the day after.
I believe him since we spent a lot working on his character and he seems to like my way of GMing, but he can't stand two other player going full powerplay and repeating rulebook word by word.
After he quit another one leaves for work, even if I specified the session would have lasted at least 3 to 4 hours.
After good player calling out, the group tears apart, I didn't want to play with 2 powerplayers and a player that would always be available for no longer than 2 hours.
I manage to keep 2 of the old good players and look for more to reform another group.
We all set once again, 2 hours before the first session one of the player calls out because he didn't know it wasn't text only.
One doesn't show up, we still decide to start with 3 players only.
As I start introducing the setting one of them says "I'm not playing this campaign" and flakes.
Now, I can understand him not finding the setting interesting and such, but I had already introduced them to the main story when recruiting them for the campaign.
Now, is it my fault? Is it him being an asshole?
I feel like shit for even thinking of putting effort in something that involves people from the internet.
Good player told me that he's still playing whatever I feel like running, but I don't think I wanna try anymore, I'm too demotivated for this shit.
Tl;dr are players shit for flaking or am I shit at GMing

That's how finding groups online works mate. You keep sifting through shit, keeping the good players until you have a full group.
Then again, you should make sure everyone are on the same page before you start a campaign. A player should know that a game isn't text only, and the general gist of the setting so that he wouldn't leave the moment he sees it. That was your fuck up.
Now, it's always possible you're also just a shit DM, but that's impossible to tell from the information you've given us. It's also possible that except for that fuck up you're god tier.
>>
>>43925524
Players who actually play usually like me, of course I can't give you any proof in a 4chan thread.
I supposed it was obvious since in the Game Finder post I mentioned roll20+skype voice call.
Any suggestion on how to read players? I try to ask them a couple question, but they always do the same answers "Yeah very serious here i like the game of where you play the role not le rolls" but then are always a bunch of murderhobos
>>
>>43925479
Focus on what KIND of campaign you want to run, what sort of mood, is it dark and serious, upbeat and silly? Silly and dark? And so on.

Be specific with what kind of players you need, how long and how often they need to be available and any other relevant info, like voice vs text, time zones, minimum session length, rules for being absent, what system to use etc.

Kick people who don't obey the rules. The good players will see that they don't have to put up with disruptive players for long and be more inclined to stay if they know you're going to boot the bad apples instead of sucking their dicks because you desperately want to keep the gang together.

Be a little flexible. If all you really have is a specific setting you made up, there's bound to be people who'll be turned off by some aspect of it, so work with them if they seem good.

Honestly, most of my campaigns start by me telling people a bit about myself and what I enjoy as a DM and then brainstorming stuff together with the people who are on the same page.

Oh, and do yourself a huge favour and just pick some free rules-light system to run your game in. It serves the dual purpose of attracting people who might be awesome but didn't have the PF books or felt like the wouldn't have time to learn it etc, and it scares away the powergamers who always start shit.

You don't get any "muh system mastery" autists if you're running Barbarians of Lemuria or Lasers and Feelings.

Hey guys, I need your help here. I have this roleplaying game going on and I'd need a image to represent my character (we're playing online most of the time so an image is nice).

The game take place in the Naruto universe, in a place far away from where we know the manga story (the story from the manga or anime doesn't affect our game at all). The players are in a three man squad and the GM is the team captain (who never helps in combat, talk about a captain :P).

A little of the backtory of the character might help figuring what I'm looking for. He and his clan are pretty dark characters, cursed hundreds of years ago because of the greed of the clan leaders who were too proud of their ocular powers. The result of the curse was that every child related to the clan would be born blind and that anytime someone would look into their eyes, both would suffer an horrible and painful death. With this curse going on, nobody wanted to deal with them, as their condition inspired fear in people, leaving them to live as refuge in a great ninja city. Still, they survived, some of them lucky (or skilled) developped a new sense, giving them the ability to ''feel'' their surrounding, allowing them to ''see'' the world while not really seeing it (kind of like the Miralukas in the Star Wars universe). The clan stayed united even with the separation made by this ability, but it allowed to some of them to take part in the village, getting the most skilled one to enter the ninja academy and eventually becoming ninja of the village. Many people disliked the fact that these ''monsters'' were allowed the same rights than the ''normal'' citizens, but the village leader decided that this was the best way to take the cursed clan out of their misery.

That's the background.

Now, for the character itself.

The character is a 16 years old male from the described clan. Having developped his ''seeing skill to an unexpected level, he is the ''eyes'' of his team and a huge part of the sensory devision of the village. He's been lonely his entire life, his parents disapearing from his life at a young age (ninja life), he's not good socializing with others. He's grown into a cold blooded killer, using water style ninjutsu to anihilate his opponents. His lack of empathy irritates his team members, the people would want him to be more on the bright side, but being constantly tormented by his curse, he's just not open to being a good helping little ninja. He fights with a scythe if he need to take a weapon, but he usualy only uses his ninjutsu.

Anyone have ideas for a picture I could use for him ? Ask questions if i'm not being clear in this little description (the game has been going on for three years, with a game every two week, so I can't put everything in here)
