You know, I was just wondering.

I've been reading a lot of stuff from Arc Dream, particularly Progenitor and Godlike - As well as the upcoming Godlike campaign, which is about black tankies fighting the Nazis.

Pathfinder and WoD have a lot of the pro-liberal stuff, and we've all seen how the Confederacy is a stand-in for evil in most game settings.

With that in mind, are there any settings which are predominantly right-wing? I don't mean racist, it's just that I really can't get behind the very liberal principles that have slowly but surely crept into a lot of gaming material. Sort of like how 5E has to state that your character can be of any orientation or whatever.

I mean, I'm just not really onboard with the whole thing. Are there any games with very conservative, very traditional values? Sort of like the opposite of Blue Rose? So far, the only one I've really found is Warhammer 40K.

You could try making your own setting, but we all know that conservatards are not very creative
>>
>>48499808

Also, for a game about humans who become ubermensch by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, you'd think Exalted would be very right-wing. Oddly enough, it isn't - There's a lot of weird sex stuff, and there are those freaks with weird pronouns in the recent Third Edition.

This is pretty much entirely dependent on DM and how they choose to spin the world.

There's a weather table in the DMG but it's not that great or useful.

Mostly I just wing it though, when I remember about weather at all. It's something I wish I focused on more and have been incorporating a bit more into descriptions.

What cards are you surprised arn't banned in EDH?

The obvious ones being Serra Ascendant or Sorin Markov but for me personally, it was learning about Felidar Sovereign and Nevermore (say goodbye to any interaction that your deck has with your commander!).

You're gonna get shit on by modern players who play Edh on the side.

"Git gud skrub"

Just filter through that shit.
I agree that sorin and ascendant are super strong in Edh. But in the end you'll probably have to suck it up and use politics to 3v1 the degenerate player.
>>
>>48489477
If your deck is so dependent on the commander that it falls apart without it, you deserve to lose.

If your deck cannot answer a 3 mana enchantment, it deserves to lose.

Ascendant is very strong, but it paints a giant target on you from the word "go". You might get in 2 or 3 solid hits with it before it dies, and grudges carry for longer than that. Sorin can be painful, but it's not instantly game-ending on its own, and if you're gonna argue "But other cards!" there are 5 mana spells that WILL end the game with other cards.

Felidar Sovereign requires you to either be playing a lifegain deck or to have not taken a single hit for some 5+ turns, and then have a creature with no protection of any kind survive 3 opponent's turns. If you can pull that off, that's your win, clean and fair.

I was in a Greyhawk campaign playing as a Cleric worshiping Pelor. We found a group of goblins, who we killed. One of the other characters, a Paladin, said we should have given them a chance to surrender. This sparked a debate between him and I about whether or not goblins in Greyhawk were inherently evil, and -thus- if their genocide was morally justifiable. My character believed that it was.

I had two main arguments, one was spiritual and the other genetic.

From a spiritual standpoint, there are no good goblin gods in Greyhawk. This meant to my character that spiritually, goblins -as a race- were evil. They had no moral campus to guild them that didn't point in the wrong direction. While individual goblins might turn to other races gods, the goblin race as a whole was irredeemable. In short, their souls were inherently evil as represented by their pantheon.

From a genetic stand point, human morals evolved from our particular pack mentality. Our capacity for altruism (and other actions we consider 'moral') come directly from our evolution as a social animal. If goblins had a different evolutionary path (as my character believed) their morals would not be coherent with ours. The actions of goblins showed their societal instincts weren't -in anyway- "moral." They were -genetically- an "evil" race, as the system the DnD characters find themselves in defined such terms as 'good' and 'evil.'

Since the DnD system has defined 'good' and 'evil,' within that system one can see goblins are inherently "evil." Thus, the wholesale slaughter of their races is not only morally justifiable, but a moral imperative.

Is genocide morally justifiable in these circumstances?

>>
>>48488995

That could make for a very interesting campeign, Though ultimately I think the evil in D&D seems to come more from external sources (the gods) as the gods created everything right? So the moral imperitive is to kill the gods, destroy the universe, and create a universe that is morally superior.

So, when is it alright to attack a sentient creature on sight?
Like, if you heard rumors of Ogres raping and pillaging, would it be OK to then attack a group of Ogres you find in that same area? Or would you not feel morally justified until it was proven they were the correct Ogres?
Would you (as a good character) not attack a black dragon, unless you knew for sure it was up to no good?

A particularly harsh king, but powerful decides to purge the kingdom of corruption.

After years of monitoring all the noble houses with a secret network of informers, he springs his trap, and massacres ALL members of families determined to be involved in theft of royal funds; bribery of officials; murder; conspiracy; and all other major criminal charges. Of course, the deed is not so easily completed and the remnants of the corrupt houses rise up in civil war.

Who are the good guys? The royalists or the rebels?

>>
>>48487588
No one. Conspiracy and corruption of the nobility is obviously a tragedy and a travesty, and some measure of accountability needs to be exercised over the ruling class, but a government-funded secret police force and private army with no oversight answerable and accountable only to the king is also wrong, and killing the innocent is never the right decision.

I've always been a fan of Satyrs and Minotaurs. To an extent that I would usually talk to my DM and seeing if we can homebrew them in a campaign.

I don't know why but I like Satyrs too. Not that short and fat kind like Phil, but slightly shorter than an average human but still a bit taller than a dwarf. When I implement them, they're either a legitimate mundane race low in population and loosely based off ancient Greece, or a creature from the Feywild intent on hanging around the PC's plane for the lulz.

because we all know it's there, but none of us have actually been there. Lots of unexplored space, and sometimes weird, dramatic landscapes. Plus all that open sky; lots of stars at night. Something about being at "the top of the world," too, contributes to the ethereal weirdness of the area.
