Picture related, his story has just begun.
What a cute fucking baby.
My current game has the party seeking an old as fuck castle which was the center of an extinct civilization. The castle itself was built on what was thought to be the site of some bad shit but to prove the point that such superstition didn't have any room in the new found kingdom they built that shit right on top of the site. When peace started to rein over the kingdom the warlord grew bored and prayed to the war god for some strife.
His prayer was answered by the deity throwing his sear straight though the fucking castle and unleashing the lich was that held in stasis under the site.
The entire side of the country is dead as fuck but the spear remains stuck in the same spot in the castle ruins.
Players wanted to do a crusade sort of thing so I'd figure to go overboard with the undead legions they'd have to face.
>>48439291
That sounds awesome, I'm envisioning a gargantuan spear just impaling the castle and huge chasms surrounding it, weeping this necrotic black sludge while zombies roam about. Fantastic stuff!
I'm running a 40krpg campaign using Dark Heresy 2e. The players are all Inquisitors and they're just starting to understand that some of their peers are massive dicks. Session before last someone unleashed a horde of Daemons upon a ship, the players and armsmen dealt with it. Then one of the players came back with his private army and established a mild quarantine on the ship before getting kicked out, the other player divined and scried who caused the attack and why, and got some nebulous and confusing visions. I'm looking forward to continuing the campaign. Afterwards, I really want to play some heroic high fantasy stuff though, 40k wears on you pretty heavily after a while.
>>48438840
the party is trying to stob a cult from making a physical body for Tiamat, by combining several dragon bodies together
except it's not going to work, and te party is going to end up fighting something kin to John carpenters 'the thing' if it used dragons instead of people
need inspiration for an upcoming campaign. players take the roles of treasure hunters, exploring lost ruins and dungeons in search of rare items.
Impressive
>>48436635
It's impressive for a miniatures company, but it's pathetic for any other sort of major publicly traded corporation. Their entire net worth is less than many company's monthly profits.
>>48436635
>Net income 8 million
>>48436635
They really need to branch out. Establish a media wing and milk 40k for all it's worth.
I've been writing several homebrew systems all with the same base mechanics (all using a dice pool system I designed called PiPs). I however really need to finally decide on which one to move forward with.
Because to a large degree people will base these solely on the name alone I think the best place to start is with names. Which one of these sounds the most interesting?
>Blorg's Ultimate Survival Climax

>Blorg's Ultimate Survival Climax
The climax part makes it sound like an anime or some japanese thing.
>The Practitioner's Handbook
>Benjamin Moore's Field Guide to Primitives
No wrong with these, but they don't really scream "rpg" to me.
>Beneath the Wall
There's an OSR style game called Beyond the Wall so the two could be confused or it may even be initially interpreted as a clone.
Came here for games about pigeons, was disappointed.
> Why not 'Pigeons in Pigeon Space'?

Everyone's Arbites?
So being local PDF, or low ranking Arbites dealing with incompetent jackass cultists and hive gangers?
I love it.
>>48435643
what's the point in making new races at all when all of the core fantasy races fulfill all of the roles you could ever need?
It smells of magical realm fetish shit to me at least.
What are your thoughts?
>>48435479
"roles" of tank, party healer, rogue, etc is canser by desighn. Its ok for dungeon crawler, but not every fucking fantasy rpg must be a dungeon crawl.
Show me a core fantasy race that looks cute and has fluffy ears and tails.
Checkmate.

Welcome to the thread for d20 station, a rules light Space Station 13 server.
>What is Space Station 13?
It's a 2D top down atmospherics simulator with who dun it gameplay layered on top. Each crew member aboard the station has a specific job to perform, while a select few are selected to be traitors (assassin/spy/thief).
>How do I play?
You'll need to download the BYOND client. There's games other than SS13, but enter those at your own risk.
BYOND Download link: http://www.byond.com/download/
You'll also want a BYOND account, which gives you a ckey so you can save preferences and be recognized by the game. It's highly recommended to make an account if you're experiencing connection issues or don't want to be a fat tourist/starving space bum.
To connect: Open BYOND, click the gear in the upper right. Click "Open Location" and paste in the IP below.

>How do I play
Use OOC (backspace say" in the bottom, type OOC and hit enter) and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC. There's also wikis dedicated to documenting the spaceman way of life, but they vary widely from server to server.
>What are the rules?
The rules are very relaxed and admins try to take a hands-off approach to administrating. Admins will generally only intervene if someone is explicitly playing to ruin the game or being a dick. Reminder to read the rules in-game.
>What map/code do you run?
We run a heavily modified Ministation map with mostly custom code. Most jobs on Ministation are merged with similar counterparts and head roles have been re-enabled.
>D20 wiki where?
http://robustvinyl.com/ss13/wiki/
>When does everyone play?
Check out the server pop graph to see when people are playing: https://www.ss13.se/servers/2926/
>Who are these tripfaggots?
Usually admins/coders in the server.
Anyone want to bring a few friends a go a few rounds?
>>48436383
Me and one other guy on right now, come join us.
Hey we've got about 4 people, join up and we can get a good round gonig!

Combined Stormcast (The one that comes with the Getting Started book) / Bretonnian Knight I've been working on.
Going to use him as a Paladin when fielding the Brets, but I'm not sure what stormcast Hero/Lord I want him to be.
Still working on turning those antlers into Horns and cleaning up the mold lines and all that, but I'm happy how he turned out. The sword is made from cutting the sword at the guard and attaching it to the hilt of the SC's hammer. The banner has also been cut in half and reattached at both sides of the shield grip, which has itself been sanded down with a Bretonnian crest attached. Also used a small cylinder of sprue to make a neck for him.
So order is still trampling, right?
So basically, all the fluff that's been published in AoS that is not about Chaos or Stormcast has been pretty good?
The heroes are at your door, it's time to do your thing.

How do you feel about Vampires that can reproduce sexually?
>>48434191
Only when they are full on blood. They are normally undead and most of fleshy stuff isn't supposed to work without blood of mortals...
Zendikar vampires are pretty cool.
>>48434191
I''ve always sort of liked the "vampires are just another living race that happens to have human blood as a nutritionalrequirement" thing
I play Orks. My current force is built around close combat.
Now however I want to make a small army based around shoota boyz and a warboss. By small I'm talking 500 to 1200 pts.
Suggestions?
>>48434023
Simple.
Get more dakka.
>>48434046
Elaborate, some dakka more killy than others.
Lootas are a must have of course. BUT WAT ELS IZ DEAD KILLY DAKKA?
>>48434023
Build an army from 500 to 1200 points based around Shoota Boys?
They play pretty similar to everything else Ork, but you need to keep a bit more distance.
Has anyone run Mongoose 1e before and have tips for someone about to run it?
>>48433090
Play Dawson's Christian and Vargr Moon alternately on repeat
>>48433090
It depends on what kind of campaign you're running.
Are the party murderhobos in space? Miners? Mercenaries? Part of the Navy? Traders?
>>48433185
My players tend to be more on the murderhobo side, and we haven't done character creation yet,
I was reading the 1d4chan page on Cavaliers, and it mentioned riding a Centaur.
Is that actually possible? How would that work?
>>48432871
You use Intimidate or Diplomacy instead of Handle Animal.
>>48432871
With both parties' consent, presumably.
>>48432999
There is not nearly enough art (or porn) of those two
What are, in your opinion, the most iconic and useful bread and butter wizard spells?
I ask because I'm making a game system and want to include all the mainstays. I want to make sure I am not forgetting anything.
If you're making Vanican magic, your system is already shit
I can't post images now, but if I could, I would post the one from the D&D 5e player's handbook of a wizard shooting what I assume is Color or Prismatic Spray at a bunch of lobster dudes.
Color Spray'll always be a mainstay for me. It was a favorite of my first wizard and it's always made its way to my other wizards since then. There's just something really dumb and great about shooting rainbows at your enemies.

How do you write a story for a campaign? Seriously, how?
All the advice I've seen about just winging it never works.
At least in my experience it's just caused people to flounder around desperately.
>GM: "What do you guys do?"
>"We look around for something interesting."
>GM: "Uh... Er, I mean, where do you specifically go?"
>"Where CAN we go?"
>GM: "... There... There's a bar?"
>"Okay, we go there. We order a drink and look around to see if there is anyone interesting around."
I can accept that some people are just naturally more creative than others. Fine, okay.
But aren't there templates for this kind of thing? Anything?
Please respond.
Different systems do well with different levels of preparation, for one. Also, winging it is much easier if you have players with a sense of agency and motivation. Not all players are like that.
At the same time, take a page from certain narrative-focused systems, and always start the players off with something to immediately react to. The cliche of starting in a tavern gets mocked for a reason. At least have it be on fire.
Just let the second or third place they end up going looking for shit be where it was supposed to end up all along.
Example: Party has to find secret hideout of local bandits
So they go to the tavern, no one knows anything. They go to the market square, no one knows anything. Then, they go to the inn, and bam, the imkeeper's son overheard someone complaining about a roadblock a few hours west of town demanding coin for safe passage. But the thing has to be, it could have been any one of those places.
That's what is meant by winging it, not just starting with no prep work and figuring it out
>>48432314
Do away with the idea that the GM has to write the story. Have *everyone* write the story ahead of time. The whole table pitches in on the setting, the overarching plot, the specifics. Craft everything upon the hooks that are the PC's backstories, personalities, goals, desires, flaws.
