"A gamemaster who hates meta-currency (such as "Fate points", "action points", "bennies", and the like) is simply opposed to player agency and player control of the narrative. Such gamemasters are overly controlling, addicted to railroading, and in general are opposed to the players enjoying any part of the game besides the narrow corridor he forces them down. In other words, such Gamemasters do not want to roleplay, they want to write novels, and terrible ones at that."
I agree.
They want no player control of in-setting serendipity.
>t. "I attack the questgiver" murderhobo
>>48494451
Not quite right. I can force my players down preplanned narrow corridors regardless of any meta-currency they might use, so I don't particularly care.
Also, who are you quoting?
>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule
>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict
>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon
>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

Your return to Kakariko is already certainly an eventful one. Monster attacks increasing in frequency. The boy in red. The girl with "your eyes." And not a word of Impa since you last saw her on the start to your journey. Madas knows nothing of her whereabouts, but as he reminds you, if she doesn't want to be found, you're not going to find her. And for good reason, usually.
There's probably not much else to do aside from catch up with the locals, though if you stick around long enough you may be able to get some more information on the girl that's been helping them. Still, there's the goal ahead of Death Mountain, and the boy in red. And if the last Temple was any indication...
>A. Ask around town, see if there has been any troubles coming to the Gorons recently before heading off
>B. Try to stick around and gather info on the girl
>C. There's no time to waste, on to Death Mountain!

We've been doing pretty well but a potential sidequest or two couldn't hurt. Ditto for more Rupees and Pieces of Heart.
Why don't fantasy games let you play as a dragon? I've only seen, like, one or two that let you do it. It's fantasy, why can't I play something other than multiple varieties of dude?

Pay excessive amounts of cash for toys to build so you can pay even more money for expensive paints to finish them so you can play a needlessly convoluted game for a few months before all your toys are made drastically underpowered by new toys and rules

RIP DN 2012-2016

ForeverGMs, let us share in our loneliness and tell tales of the worst players/characters you've had to DM for.
I did a homebrew setting that my friend and I thought up of when we were in college.he died before he could GM it. Summoning our closest friends, we rolled characters out and plunged them into this Dark Souls-inspired setting.
"The Guy" of our group played Ivellios, a Drow Ninja who was the most unlikable fucker ever. He constantly drew his blade on peasants whose only crime was "they were happy", and casted darkness on a king who was pissed when he learned that he lied to him about destroying his fleet. He kicked a half-elf girl in the middle of the street at midnight because he mistook her crying at night for her dead friends was her summoning a Daemon.
here's the bio
>A very aggressive Drow, skilled in the arts of Shadows and blades. His background isn't really known. However, he has specified that he comes from the Underdark, a realm where people, such as the Drow and Duegar, come from where viciousness and anger seem to be what allows them to continue their existence. Ivellios is a man who can't seem to stand complete peace, reasoning that it isn't a natural thing! He despises his arrival here on Terra Fatalis, so much so that he's come to reason that this place is nothing more than an ill-conceited dream birthed by his mind. He only cares for himself here, in this realm of dream.
>"It is a Dream... Right? Surely my mind plays this theatrical trick of a life I can live differently! I will not submit! I will keep myself alive and ring the bells, so I may return and fulfill the mission I have been given! The tyrant of the Underdark will fall!"
>>48493031
One kid is pretty aggrivating IC and his character revolves around pretty much disagreeing with everything that the NPC handlers/ Questgivers hand them, and near starting bloodshed within minutes of meeting friendly people. The dumbest shit he's done so far was during a tail on a certain strange guy, he stood up on a bar table and drew his bow and was promptly tackled off the table causing a massive bar fight and the burning down of the tavern with everyone inside subsequently. He bitched about how he got tackled saying it doesn't make sense when, man who the fuck draws a bow in the middle of a crowded bar?
>>48493031
How did this dumbass not get lynched? I never understood how DMs let their players get away with autistic shit that would in any "real" land them in the shitter.
>>48493031
>Terra Fatalis
Now THAT is a good name
What was the setting?
My worst player was jsut a guy who tried to rape a female player's female PC. we kicked him out.

>>Information
This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a sixteen year old boy named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.
>Rules
At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.
In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins
Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.
Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process
I hope everyone has fun.

Choose one fictional character. You are now that person's best buddy, and you get to go on great adventures with that person in the appropriate fictional setting.
Who do you choose?

Why is Earth magic so criminally underrated in most systems?
>>48458975
Because it's not as flashy as fire or air, and it doesn't heal like water. Plus, what can you do with Earth? Earthquakes, chasms, grow plants?
>>48459181
Earth would be the most quickly and massively destructive element, really.
Earthquakes are no fucking joke. Sure you can't flash fry someone, but you can impale them. Or crush them. A lot of things, really. I also don't see why water would be healing. It's just as destructive as its other counterparts.
>>48459220
>I also don't see why water would be healing
When somebody passes out, you don't throw a clump of dirt on their face to revive them.

Have you guys used or encountered art at all in your game?
>>48486501
You mean like painting and sculptures in game? I had a side quest planned one time for my party to be guarding a museum for a few days, and on the last night a mage would animate some of the statues and other artwork to attack the party with. The quest never got explored while they were in town and the group broke apart shortly after.
Why don't you guys play Dungeon World instead of D&D 5e? It does everything 5e does except better. You want fast combat? Dungeon World does that. You want bonds and roleplaying? Dungeon World does that. D&D 5e just restricts you with rules and complex class abilities that, let's face it, no one really wants to learn.
Last time I played Dungeon World, my barbarian wrapped a vampire in a bear hug and wrestled him out a window. We are talking about real roleplaying here, not baby 3.5 shit. I don't want to have to roll a bunch of complicated checks just to do something cool. All D&D has is this autistic "lol on a nat 20 you can do anything!" bullshit. Dungeon World doesn't do that; it gives justification to your characters actions with a unique multi-staged success mechanic that leads to interesting outcomes for every action, instead of the boring binary pass / fail of D&D.
It's a superior game in any way. Please give one (1) legitimate reason why you haven't tried it yet.

"It's over Scheherazade." Your brown opponent slumps dejectedly on the arena ground, legs sprawled to her sides. "There's no shame in saying it."
She's powered down her defenses. She's surrendered. But she still holds on to a modicum of pride. She still holds her sash defiantly in her one good hand.
"...Make me, Yakuza cunt." She snarls through gritted teeth. "You come here and take your prize but I"m not going to give it to you. I'm not like you who just rolls over for her enemy like a dog with its belly rubbed. You'll have to cook my neurons before I beg like the dog you are!"
She's not taking her loss well. She's probably still shocked that you utterly destroyed her. She probably thought like so many others that your loss to Lesath made you less of a terror.
She has thought wrong.
SAY/DO?
>>48485618
Hmmm, so much for Feels/Sisterhood. Really figured the speech was going to do more. Maybe in time?
For now I guess we could always move in closer to her, stare into her eyes, hold onto her good hand, but not clutch at the scarf yet.
"Are you afraid of me, Sheherezade? You shouldn't be. The old version of me, you should have been scared of. But I have learned a few things."
And maybe we could correct her about the whole "we're a dog" thing. Maybe with some humour or levity.
>>48485618
Glad to see you running again Bookie. I'm the speech guy from last thread by the way. As for our new friend, she's being far more difficult than I'd thought. I think we should show her Lesath's gentle domination, teach her exactly why we love her. Let her keep the sash too, I'd feel bad about taking that. Once we make her feel like she's in heaven, maybe play with her a bit. She has been very rude after all. But only after we show her that she has nothing to fear.
>>48485618

Some Dos and Don'ts of this thread:
DO:
- Post what you want to do with your list (tournament, casual, etc.)
- Post the points limit
- Post the total cost of each model (for characters) or unit
- List the upgrades a unit has taken
- List the dedicated transports a unit has taken
- Clearly identify which detachment/formation each unit belongs to
DON'T:
- Post the individual cost break down for each upgrade
- Post the individual stats of a unit
- Copy the list directly from battle scribe (or equivalent)
- List ALL the war gear/special rules a model/unit has
- List all the command benefits a individual detachment has

Hows this for a competitive list?
1850 Imperial Knights and Dark Angels
Household Detachment
Knight Paladin with Thunderstrike Gauntlet - 385
Knight Paladin with Reaper Chainsword and Stormspear Rocket Pod - 415
Knight Warden with Meltagun and Stormspear Rocket Pod - 420
Ravenwing Strike Force
Librarian with Bike, Melta Bombs, Auspex and Mastery Level 2 - 120
Ravenwing Command Squad with 6 Black Knights, Apothecary Upgrade and One Ravenwing Grenade Launcher - 270
3 Ravenwing Black Knights - 120
3 Ravenwing Black Knights with One Ravenwing Grenade Launcher - 120
So im working on an ashen claws list atm.
The plan is to use the mor deythan Squad as the ashen claw combined With alwarex and a apothecarion to establish a forward point where i can coordinate deep striking flyers and outflanking veterans
im probably gona put the furies in the storm eagle so they dont get a pieplate on their head in turn 2 With an assult ramp i should be pretty mobile With a 6 inch move 6 inch deployment and a fleet charge that can kill anyting exept a primarch.
Fire raptor is there for light anti tank and infantry removal + its a cool model
the caestus is far from an optimal Choice but its pretty durable With a str8ap1 pieplate and can carry one of the veteran units probably With + ws
the strike fighter is my go to spartan/typhon removal unit its just plain nasty.
so this list lacks staying Power but the goal is to take out most of the big nastys before getting into Close combat and runing away when they have to.
