Why is killing monsters evil?
>>48516001
It's not and you should ignore anyone who says it is.
It isn't.
>>48516001
Wrong question. What you should be asking is "When is killing monsters evil". The answer is "When more humans than monsters are killed".
Good morning and welcome back to Ask A Judge!
>>48499953
Hey gA, I have a question for you.
Future sight is on the field, I cast Maelstrom Wanderer, can I cast cards from the top of my library as they're revealed but before the cascade triggers?
>>48500558
If you mean before those triggers RESOLVE, yes, but only if those cards are Instants, have Flash, or something is allowing you to cast them as though they had Flash. If the top card of your library was a Snapcaster Mage you could cast it, but not if the top card was a Divination.
>>48500577
Oh ya, you've explained the stack to me a few times, once the cascade triggers I can't do anything, but I could throw instants on the stack before the cascade resolved. Thanks man, you're the best.

This is a Dwarf thread. For Dwarves. No Elves allowed.
Let's talk about hammers, axes, beards and ale. And why those bastard elves need to shut up.
>>48533582
Too many bloody Okri are making everything out of stone these days. Treated wood is just as fine, retains heat wonderfully, and is a fraction of the weight.
We don't turn into Elgi just by using wood in our craftmanship.

How would I go about converting the necropolitan template to 5e?
>>48530880
Which is what, OP?
>>48530941
All it dead back then is make people have the undead type. That means a lot less now, so just literally do that. Being undead doesn't come with a laundry list of innate immunities and shit anymore so I don't think it even really needs an LA or the like. Just straight up "you are undead"
POST STORIES FROM YOUR DND GAMES
My party recruited an undead band for their brothel after torturing a dirty old man who cheated the fighter's mom in a game of backgammon.
>>48524461
And they got the building for the brothel by killing an elf supremacy terrorist and taking his house as their reward.
>>48523410
My drow rogue convinced the party to not spend their ill-gotten gains on magic equipment but on a ship, a crew, cool clothes and become pirates.

>>48527849
Even D&D has chasing rules.
Hell, one D&D adventure actually introduced a card-based chase sequence.

>game about fantasy superheroes
>huge list of powers
>Oh boy, I can't wait to see what I can do with my awesome powers!
>80% of them are dice/success-riggers and fiddly point-adders
Why is this allowed?
Because white wolf can't design worth shit.
Also because the fanbase is terrible and enables this shit
Because the shtick of Solars is excellence, they do shit better than other people. That is why most of their powers are just about making them flat better at shit, because their theme is all about them excelling at their fields of expertise.
That's why there's powers like being so good at jumping that you can leap like 40 feet and being so good at balance you can run on water or balance on a falling leaf but there isn't anything like laser eyes because that's not an extension of what a person does.
>>48524763
>That's why there's powers like being so good at jumping that you can leap like 40 feet and being so good at balance you can run on water or balance on a falling leaf
Except they don't do that. They give you more chances of successes or more successes, which lets you do something more "epic" because the Storyteller might have the presence of mind to set a higher difficulty or something.

To this anon, for Ravnica, I suggest the actual cards themselves. The City of Guilds is exceptionally vibrant and visually distinct, with tons of bohemian architecture woven in (the city is based on Prague).
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&block=|[%22Ravnica%20Block%22]|[%22Return%20to%20Ravnica%22]
Here, this should have all the cards from *both* Ravnica blocks, so the sets Ravnica, City of Guilds, Guildpact, Dissension, Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash, and Dragon's Maze.
Check the mechanics too. The Ravnica blocks are famous for being very mechanically dense, with each Guild having it's own exclusive keyword that brings out the flavor of the guild. Between the two blocks, that's some 20 keywords and 1300 cards, with tons of art references to help you world build.

Note on Inheritance; RAW it's +1k1 to non-combat rolls made with the item. Specific skills are given for items as example uses, but it doesn't quite restrict you to one skill. It's just a smart way to do it.

Welcome to the thread for d20 station, a rules light Space Station 13 server.

It's a 2D top down atmospherics simulator with who dun it gameplay layered on top. Each crew member aboard the station has a specific job to perform, while a select few are selected to be traitors (assassin/spy/thief).
>How do I play?
You'll need to download the BYOND client. There's games other than SS13, but enter those at your own risk.
BYOND Download link: http://www.byond.com/download/
You'll also want a BYOND account, which gives you a ckey so you can save preferences and be recognized by the game. It's highly recommended to make an account if you're experiencing connection issues or don't want to be a fat tourist/starving space bum.
To connect: Open BYOND, click the gear in the upper right. Click "Open Location" and paste in the IP below.

>How do I play
Use OOC (backspace say" in the bottom, type OOC and hit enter) and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC. There's also wikis dedicated to documenting the spaceman way of life, but they vary widely from server to server.
>What are the rules?
The rules are very relaxed and admins try to take a hands-off approach to administrating. Admins will generally only intervene if someone is explicitly playing to ruin the game or being a dick. Reminder to read the rules in-game.
>What map/code do you run?
We run a heavily modified Ministation map with mostly custom code. Most jobs on Ministation are merged with similar counterparts and head roles have been re-enabled.

You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!
Currently, you were having a bit of a tea party with the Royal Navy ships Exeter, Achilles, Ajax, and Victorious, with Anna here as your American backup.
So far, you thought that Achilles and Ajax were pretty cool. Honestly, you saw them more as glorified destroyers rather than cruisers, considering their smaller size and armament compared to their larger cousin Exeter. Their aggression and physicality also made a good impression on you.
Exeter reminded you a bit of Mulberry. She had that quiet air of coolness and calm that served as a counterpoint to Achilles and Ajax, to the point where you suspected that all three ships had actually served together in the War. Your knowledge of foreign navies wasn't really all that great, though, so you could be wrong.
(cont)
>>48526223
Victorious, on the other, looked to be a constant nervous wreck, like she had the constant feeling that she wasn't supposed to be here. You could also notice her sweating rather profusely, even though the weather wasn't particularly that hot. However, despite that, she seemed to get along well with Anna, both of them being carriers, and all.
Meanwhile, you weren't all that much of a tea person. The shit was way too bitter for your taste, which was why you ended up just pouring sugar liberally into your cup, much to the poorly disguised disgust of all of the present British ships.
The scones were fucking excellent, though.
"So, Hoel." Exeter gives that typical glowing smile of hers. "How do you like the Falklands? I understand it's quite the far cry from the Pacific."
>Fucking COLD AS HELL. How do you Brits stand this?
>Eh, I got kinda used to the cold in Norfolk.

Bully Victorious into our harem!
Jesus Christ the Beast-master ranger is fucking atrocious. Like, seriously irreconcilably awful. Easily the worst path of any class in the game.
It makes way of the four elements monk look playable in comparison.
/tg/ how do we fix this utter garbage?
>>48525161
1. It's not actually all that broken. Reread the animal companion guide because 9 out of 10 discussions I get into about this don't notice really simple things like you get to add the ranger's proficiency bonus to the animals' AC, Saves, Attacks, and Damage.
2. Barding.
3. Stop expecting to play a 3.5 druid that gets a free fighter with every level
4. Realize that the animal is an extension of a singular class feature that will come back after a long rest. You can even change out the animal for added utility, and eventually can even begin casting Hunter's mark on the creature.
5. The largest weakness of the animal is that it has the HP of a wizard with no Con. Considering the bonus to AC and the barding potential, this is only bad if you get hit with a breath weapon. If you want to remedy this, allow the animal to add it's con modifier plus ranger level.
6. If your concern is roleplay reasons for having the animal, but you still think the animal is too weak to survive, keep in mind that the animal doesn't have to die at 0 HP and can be cured/revivified. Baring that, talk to the DM and see if you can convince him that when you rest for 8 hours that the same animal companion comes back. They will RARELY say no.
7. Stop sucking dicks and trying to make 5e into 3.PF.
>>48525161
By not exaggerating how bad it is, letting companions perform a short command instead of just swapping an attack for a worse one, and telling the DM to throw a companion a magical item or two.
>>48525256
So lvl 6 ranger has an animal companion with 24 hp, and an AC of.. 18 if you're lucky and have somehow gotten the gold/opportunity for barding?
Still gonna go down like Monica Lewinsky in any decent fight that would challenge a party of lvl 6's. And as soon as it hits the dirt you now have to worry about healing it/keeping it alive.
Why the fuck would I ever bother? Hunter far far better (and ranger is already somewhat under-powered).
Not about making 5e into 3.5. It's just bad. Like SUPER bad. I'm not talking 'zerker barbarian bad' or 'valor bard' bad this is a whole new universe of terribleness.
