If you play online, what tools do you use?
>>48872786
Should've included that, it's basically just getting a shield instead of pact weapon. Also Plate is OP, I'll probably just replace Mecha with the ability to bond with heavy armor, but I kind of want mecha transformation to work.
>>48872851
>If you play online, what tools do you use?
Roll20 for character sheets, battle maps, and rolling.
Discord for chat between sessions, private messages, and voice.
>>48872983
Right now I'm using Skype and we're going to try discord out. Any tips for a DM with 24 hours before the game?
DISCLAIMER: This is entirely hypothetical, and I do not intend to do this.
That said, if you were going to be the worst GM ever, what would you do? What would be your first step, and how would you proceed? Just discuss the worst GM you can even imagine, and try to come up with a way to do a terrible, terrible job at it.
Step 1: Add a social combat mechanic.
>>48870716
What's that?
I figure I'd just railroad like fuck, make the players listen to me talking for hours without them really contributing much in the way of choices, maybe throw my magical realm in there.
Constantly make sexual comment about all of the other players, male and female, both in and out of character.
Alternatively, identify the least willful player and focus on harassing them in an overt manner that makes all of the other players recognize what you're doing.
Have someone get raped.
Make nonsensical decisions about what is or isn't balanced, and come down unreasonably hard on the things you deem broken. Find the most mechanically powerful character in the group and accept it after a minor change, but when someone gives you a character designed for roleplay turn it down because "if I can't see what's broken about it it must be really bad."
In order to simulate improper hygiene without actually having to live like Chris-chan for several months soak a shirt in a tub of melted butter for an hour, then hang it to dry in the sun. Wear the shirt. This is a test of endurance.

So I have been reading up on the Scions and I gotta say the 68th Deltic Lions are my favorite but it is said these guys have a renowned immunity to anything nurgle to the point that fucking nurgle himself is interested in these guys.
Question is what do you think it is? Isha wanting to get back Nurgle? Tzeentch wanting an "Ace up his sleeve" to mess with nurgle? Or maybe a little of both?
>>48866585
>have a renowned immunity to anything nurgle to the point that fucking nurgle himself is interested in these guys.
They're not immune to Nurgles plagues. They're just significantly more resistant to toxic conditions than normal humans are, and their resistance to that makes them of interest to Nurgle. They're not immune to things like Nurgles Rot.
Also, I'm 99% sure that neither Isha nor Tzeentch have nothing to do with this.
>>48866585
Psh, 55th Alphic Hydras are where it's at.
>>48866802
I just thought its kinda weird how nurgle himself takes notice to tacticool humans.
Is this the shittiest faction in whole 40K? In a setting filled to the brim with edgelords they are by far the edgiest and for the dumbest reason possible I mean where the fuck is the connection between torture and filling their soul? Seems like something 14yo Hellsing fangirl could come up with. Also their armor is made of shit a decent Ork warband could shitstomp their entire race let alone things like Chaos Marines.
>>48850586
If you want to talk edgy you should see the grey knights. I dont think even dark eldar would use SoBs for armor polish

What are the advantages of adding a Social Combat mechanic to a game? What options does it provide over plain roleplaying? Does it add to it, or does it replace it with rollplaying?
I haven't played any games with a social combat mechanic, but I'm interested in the concept, so I'd like to know what /tg/ has to say about it.
The main advantage is the same as the advantage of adding more mechanics of any part of a game, the players have a greater ability to understand and therefore plan around the rules. A game system with social combat means that instead of just character stats and role-playing how well you play the game itself (in whatever form the social subsystem takes) is also a factor which means that there's an element of player skill to social situations. It also gives social focused characters something interesting to think about and engage with, obviously they always have role-playing but some players prefer to engage with the 'game' part.
>>48859010
Social combat mechanics take away the RP in RPG if you ask me.
Personally, I handle this kind of situation like this: Whenever a PC wants to persuade, intimidate or seduce a NPC, I let the player role-play the situation. Based on what the player said, I will give a bonus/penalty to his skill roll. This way, I keep the role-play part and players who want to create smooth-talkers can.
It let's the players who are inept or inexperienced play too.
But I wouldn't recommend it if everyone at the table needs it. Because then you're basically having storytime.

"Because no one else was going to do it" edition.
So, I'll kick it off with a question. Is there any good sources for Miami in Shadowrun? I've been considering setting a game there, if it is as beautifully 80s and neon as I hope it is.
What are the best "actual play" podcasts or videos of SR out there? Any edition counts.
I've seen Mirrorshades, wasn't that thrilled with it, but it was entertaining.
>>48857836
Cyberpirates! is the last time I remember anything with Miami specifically. Look up Caribbean League stuff for general background. There's also this https://www.reddit.com/r/Shadowrun/comments/2g04zd/worldbuilder_wednesday_shadows_of_miami/
The local Dark Lord made an entire time period itself his phylactery.
How does your party fight him?
>>48854592
Wait him out.
>>48854592
Bring an end to an era via either a golden age or violence. Preferably violence.
Time travel may be necessary, but if the period has already passed then the phylactery was destroyed, and if it's in the future then the Dark Lord doesn't have a phylactery yet.
>>48854592
Go to the future and wildly distort facts surrounding the period of his rule. Then use the resulting disturbance along the sympathetic link to paradox his ass into oblivion.
Itt we make a setting that's metal as fuck
Just combine Iceland with inner city Baltimore and maybe some Australian fauna.
Don't we already have Hail and Kill? Needless to say it needs to be improved.
>>48846062
You're never going to top 40K in sheer metal-ness.

BEGIN PART VIII: THE GIANT'S DRINK
>>48792498
You are Brianna la Croix, increasingly professional adventurer, and you are in Lora's waiting room, the night (day? /Camp/, damnit, why is this still fucking with you?) before you're to begin your assault on the Cornucopia.
"I have good news and bad news," the angel says, once you've arrived.
"Hit me," you invite.
"The good news is, the Master needs more and more of my attention. The Lush is unlikely to field me as a weapon or agent, though he /has/ planned with this in mind," Lora tells you. "The bad news is that the Master is also actively attempting to prevent me from bringing you back. It's only a matter of time before I'll be constrained against doing such a thing."
You wince, but then nod. "I haven't relied on your power," you point out. "Living like I only get to die once has been good practice for that."
"Indeed," the angel agrees. "Also, you should know this ahead of time - if the Wyrm kills you, you're staying dead. It is in his nature."
"To destroy?" you ask, tilting your head.
"To change, with a powerful will," Lora corrects. "The Wyrm is very old, and has had a lot of time to hone that will. If he changes you from a living thing to a dead one, you'll stay changed."
"Thanks for the warning," you tell her, gratefully. "I'm guessing you can't really talk about the Lush or his defenses directly?"
"Not even a little," your friend agrees.

Shinobi Quest #31
This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.
(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime met up with her teammates and co-conspirators, in order to go over the plan before the first part of the chunin exams. After giving the plan a verbal once over, and teasing Shikamaru, Tsuki and Company met up with Neji and Sai, who introduced their partner for this round of exams: Kabuto Yakushi.
After a bit of verbal sparring, the genin were summoned inside the Academy building for the test, proctored by the frightening jonin, Ibiki. Seats were randomly assigned; this ended up being beneficial for Tsuki’s neighbor, Sasuke, who proceeded to copy her entire test.
Tsuki, of course, passed the exams with little issue, whilst many genin were eliminated by Ibiki’s strict proctoring.
Upon the reveal of the final question- a stupid and wasteful question, according to Tsuki- many genin teams opted to leave when faced with the threat of never being able to participate again.
Once all exams were collected, however, Ibiki revealed his falsehood- there was no such restriction. It was simply a test of his own to weed out those unwilling to face the unknown head on.
Even more aggravated, Tsuki heads out into the hall, having passed her first round of examinations….
You hang around just long enough for Nori and Hinata to appear- they seem in much better spirits.
“We passed! We did it, Tsuki-hime!” Hinata celebrates.
“Yeah, we did it. Even if I only answered one question.” Nori says, scratching the back of her head.
What? Wasn’t Ino supposed to help her….?
