Welcome back to /sss/, where you can discuss JoJo systems and share Stands for people to use in their campaigns.
>Thread Prompt:
Make a Stand that has anything related to the word "quiet".
>What is a Stand?
For those unfamiliar to the series, a Stand is a physical manifestation of a person's spirit. Each person has their own unique Stand with the possibility of a host of powerful abilities. Stands are named after songs or albums!

「Foggy Notion」
>Stats
Power: D
Durability: C
Speed: C
Range: A
Precision: A
Potential: B
A purple and gray, feminine, humanoid stand covered from head to toe with glass eyes. Looks like a fortune-telling gypsy/belly dancer.
>Abilities
Up to 100 of these eyes can be embedded into surfaces to record sights and sounds from afar. These eyes are effective within a 10 mile radius of the user. Foggy Notion can calculate the probability of any given event occurring within the scope of its vision based on its observations and the user's own knowledge. If the user doesn't specifically look for certain events, Foggy Notion will automatically project the most probable course of future events over a time frame chosen by the user. The shorter the time frame, the more accurate the predictions. Monitoring a wider area and covering several angles of the same area will also improve the accuracy of its predictions
>Combat
When the user embeds the eyes into her own skin, they enhance her awareness of her surroundings and slow down her perception of time. This can be used to predict an enemy's attacks and capitalize on their weak points. It also improves the accuracy of anything the user throws.
>Weaknesses
Paying attention to too many distant eyes at once hinders the user's attention to her own surroundings.
Eyes can't see anything if you cover them up.
Embedding more than 3 eyes into the user's body for too long will have harmful effects (dizziness, nausea, migraines). The more eyes in her body, the faster she'll get effected. At least 5 eyes are needed to have a noticeably slowed perception of time.
Bright flashes and loud noises may disorient the user when too many eyes are in her body.
Hiding objects from the eyes allows an enemy to spring surprises on her.
The Stand itself isn't very strong or fast, so the user has to rely on dodging and throwing knives while FN guards her.
>Alternate names
Watchtower, Private Eyes, Rhinestone Eyes, The Vigil

First time doing this, Any good?
The year is 1936, and the Spanish Civil War has begun.Your name is José Quintana, and you´ve lived in the countryside for all your life, helping your family tend to the crops you´ve needed to survive, hiding your strange ability, the Stand [Iron Maiden], from everyone. Or so you thought, for the day in which you were to be drafted into the Republican army to fight the fascist forces, you fled, and were found by another Stand user by the name of Francisco Sánchez. You joined in his plans to stop this senseless war, and set out to find if the rumours of a falangist Stand user murdering Republic sympathisers in the Asturian city of Gijon were true. Upon arriving at the city, you were immediately assaulted by the enemy´s Stand, [A world without logos], whose ability is to make everything bland-looking and indistinguishable. After engaging him in melee range by surprise, he has lead you into a trap, and you´re now surrounded by his lackeys, armed with guns aimed at you.
You are in a very bad position, and your friend is too far to be able to assist you.
What do you do?
>Call out for help
>Attempt to use Iron Maiden´s magnetic powers to disarm the enemies (DC:14)
>Try to stop the bullets with your Stand (DC:20)

Why would anyone still play 3.5 when two clearly superior and popular games exist?
>>48841105
idk man this is what all my friends play
plus i can find all the 3.5 literature for free on the internet
>>48841105
I'd consider pathfinder more of a lateral move at this point. As for the other options beats me

>>48839824
Because it's thematic, and allows to both specialize and diversify mage's knowledge, depending on the setting.
Why?
Why not?
Fantasy wasn't doing well because the high price of entry, instead of trying to fix it they decided to look to 40k for help and try something completely new
They even released Total War: Warhammer right after. GeeDubs is fucking stupid.

The best rule of AoS is...
>"if both players can carry out abilities at the same time, the player whose turn is taking place use their abilities first"
Discuss.
And the resources supply link/ring is kinda broken atm, we have no WD131 and Everwinter epub, and don't expect any resources in near future.
first for assmad order players pissed that destruction has two good factions
Friendly reminder that these are perfectly fair, balanced, and historically inspired lists.

I'm the guy from the last one who squabbled with you, I meant nothing by it, in fact I like the list, I meant people will get butthurt because of your focus on shooting
Your party's foe has permanently transformed all of you into ball pythons. This is your new form; your previous form is now lost to you. You may be able to shapeshift using spells or other abilities, but your true form will always be a snake.
You all now have a bite attack, and you gain racial bonuses to hide and move silently. You also have a suffocation attack, which has a low chance of succeeding, but if it does then the target must make a fort save or die. Your scales grant you a small amount of damage resistance.
If you are a caster, you still have your magical abilities, but you must cast all spells as still and silent.
If you are a druid, you may be able to use your skills to communicate with other races.
Does this put an end to your adventuring days? How will you continue in your new serpentine forms?
Serpent druid
Would wildshape allow me to turn back into a human?
>>48836924
>Does this put an end to your adventuring days?
Yes. If the GM absolutely HAS to force us to live out his scalie fueled magical realm then the least he can do is make us a species of snake that isn't bitch tier. A retic, a rock python, an anaconda, hell, i'd even take being turned into something of similar size like an STP before I took a ball python. Then again it'd probably put an end to our adventuring for much different and more pressing reasons, i.e. my ranger's animal companion deciding to do what any monitor lizard would do when faced with a snake that's smaller than it. I can only hope that the GM doesn't also have a vore fetish.
>>48837001
Yes, but you are limited to one hour per druid level as a human, once per day.
What is your favorite magic system?
In a perfect world, how should a magic system work in a game?
>>48834669
I rather like Shadowrun's system. Flexible but not overpowered and smart magician players often make sure their characters have some abilities in other areas.
I quite liked DnD 4e because it cut away the fat from 3.5. Having a load of at-wills and once-per-encounter/day with fairly generic rules actually worked well. People who said it was boring are people who don't use their imagination. My main problem with it was the same problem I had with 4e powers in general: insufficient detail on how those powers worked OUTSIDE of combat. Yeah the DM can make a ruling, but it needs to be consistent so you soon build up a big sheaf of house rules.
Generally my view is magic should be balanced to be either very powerful but inflexible, or highly flexible but only moderately flexible. Otherwise you end up with a dual-wielded swiss-army sonic-screwdriver plasma-bazooka that dominates the game and is awkward to balance encounters for.
>>48834808
>or highly flexible but only moderately flexible
Derp, should be *highly flexible but only moderately powerful
>>48834669
Favorite "balance with everyone else" system would be Unknown Armies. Effects are kept to the low end of power, unless you're willing to go far out of your way, and being the normal guy with a lot of practical skill is a valid option when the rest of your party is a hoodrat mage, a thaumaturge, and the walking incarnation of "the guy who fights things."
Just generally, Ars Magica's system is a lot of fun to play around with. The only possible problem is if someone goes in thinking that an average person will be able to keep up with team wizard. The book does warn about this, though, and gives suggestions on how to keep anyone from being overshadowed while still getting to play non-mages.
What is the most effective way to take out an enemy that can warp reality to its will?
>>48833331
Shoot it in the head from half a mile off, before it even knows you're there.
>>48833331
Trick it into warping itself out of reality.
I assume the being in question is not omniscient
>>48833331
Talk it down.
Why is the "jaded grizzled veteran takes in an orphaned teenage girl as apprentice" trope so common in all things tabletop?
>>48833154
Like what?
it's a trope in all mediums. it's a great way to have an almost unkillable character while maintaining tension. your grizzled veteran can impressively dismember countless foes but in their need to protect the innocent child they are forced to compromise themselves and become vulnerable.
it humanizes the monster. it's really not a bad thing imo. the only time it's problematic is when it's poorly written. the character of leon in the professional is very well thought out.
>>48833210
I've yet to see it applied in tabletop.
Negative-zero occurrence in non-RPG tabletop.
What's the melee equivalent of grapeshot?
A club.
Multi-Headed Flail
Grapeshot fired at point-blank.

So an interview addressing a lot of the popular concerns we have had with what they've shown so far.
Or at least that's what they think it was, because that "interview" sounded like a lot of bollocks to me.
Thoughts?

The other video this guy uploaded.
this game exists to rip the assets and import them into tabletop simulator
>>48829670
They wanted to make the visuals look like tabletop which is kind of cool I have to say and the gameplay stream from the mission they showed looked fun as hell, but I guess you are from /v/ and you will hate it anyway
>You set down for a game and one of your players whip these out.
Do you let him use them?
>>48828733
>Do you let him use them?
that D20 is fine, but everything else?
FUCK NO!
Use polyhedral dice like a normal person you smug, hipster, son-of-a-bitch.
>>48828733
Dip them in salt water and that will make them roll true.
>>48828733
So long as they're a decent random number generator device sure why not.
At least nobody can mistake them for anyone else's unlike generic dice.
Why are Magic players so smelly?
If you go to the shop/tournament, could you please be so nice to shower and try to act like a normal bean.
Also ITT: Your shop stories.
>>48826829
Most of these shops, tournament areas aren't air conditioned and are stuffed with people. Even if you had a shower before coming you'll be sweating and smelling in half an hour. And people sometimes spend half or a full day there.
You might as well complain that people smell at rock concerts.
>>48826931
It doesn't help that the people are fucking disgusting. Went to a weekend event with a few players, was worried they'd get mad at me for taking too much shower time because there were like 6 guys to one shower.
Nah, they just all fucking rinsed their hair, pits, and crotch in the sink and said that was good enough. In florida. In the summer. Maybe one of them took a shower after me but that was it.
Some people just don't care.
>Shower every day
Well memed. Washing like that ruins the protective oils on your skin and is bad for you
Once a week is fine.

TIERS ARE USAGE-BASED. A Tier 2 deck may be better than a Tier 1 deck in a specific Metagame.
First for UW D&T.
So what's the deal with D&T decks now? Is eldrazi and taxes a straight upgrade or is it meta dependent as to which is better?
