How do you get a group of super high powered and rare beings to cooperate and find each other without it being forced or "you meet in a interdimensional tavern".

Is this interdimensional tavern for ants?
>>
>>49389084
You talk to the players and politely ask them to come up with reasons why they are working together.
>>
Context is everything. Set a premise for the game which requires cooperation, talk to the players about shared backstories, pitch the game in a way which brings them together... You can't really speak in anything more than abstract terms without defining some factors.

And life is not easy for the astartes who garrrison the fortress-monasteries of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium.....

So I've been on a bit of a Berserk binge over the last few weeks, and was thinking about running a game based on the Golden Age Arc. Think Battle of Doldrey, armies fighting, general having fancy duels, as well as a bit of intrigue. Any idea what system I should use?

Didn't see any image-request threads (mods/janitors feel free to delete this if I'm a retard and managed to miss an active one somehow). Anyway, I'm looking for pics of characters who look magical, but aren't necessarily Wizards or scholarly types. Looking for something more in line with DnD's definition of "sorcerers" who's magic is more natural and innate rather than learned through study. I'd start this off with an image dump, but I was barely able to scrounge this up for the post pic.

Help is appreciated, thanks.

Nice.

How do you get a new group through the first few sessions of a campaign?

With a group new to the system, and the overall lethality of WFRP, it seems really hard to get a new group into an actual campaign without the first half-dozen sessions just being a series of TPKs, even with fate points. I mean, sure it's a survivable game if you know the system and what all your combat options are and all the possible modifiers to stack up, but until the players get their heads around that it's pretty deadly stuff. I ran my group through a one-shot of the campaign from the back of the core rulebook (Through the Drakwald) - there's two combats in that scenario, the first one mutilated them through crits, the second one was a TPK even with Fate points.

Does anyone have any tips for easing newbies into the game without either a) requiring them to learn the system through-and-through before playing, or b) running half a dozen one-shots before starting the "real" campaign?

Also WFRP General I guess

The official adventures tend to throw some ridiculous bullshit at you, my advice would be to ease them into it by designing your own adventures which you tailor more to their experience with the system.

just played it one time, and that one time wanted to try combat out, it was brutal, so i guess that you shouldn't focus on combat at first

Looking for one more player to round things out. Opener is Topaz Championship.

Imagine a setting where each small community is uniformly neurodivergent from modern humanity.

There may be a community where everybody has frequent auditory hallucinations, a community where people can't see their own faces (agnosia), a community where everybody has lucid dreams, or even a community where everybody is autistic.

And every one of these cultures is perfectly adapted to their surroundings.

Now, I think you can see where I am going with this.

What would an isolated community composed entirely of autistic people actually look like? (inb4 "4chan, lol". I'm asking this question seriously.) What would such a culture excel at? What problems might such a culture face?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>49385256
Such a community likely wouldn't exist. Autistic people normally have trouble communicating, which makes it hard if you're to have a community that's ENTIRELY autistic.
>>
>>49385301

The autistic community will include 'high-functioning' autistic people.
Anyway, it doesn't have to be a perfect community, it just has to be good enough to survive.

Might have already been churned over but did anybody see this piece on Vice about 3d printing and Wargaming (sp. Games Workshop)?

Frankly the models featured have done nothing to convince me that home 3d printing won't just be a pipe dream similar to how nobody with a printer expects cheap publisher quality home printed books.

Those where 3D printed? I'll stick to Geedubs thanks. Or I would if I had any cash.
>>
>>49385119
it wont effect companies like GW (well not in the short term anyways.) The only difference I can see 3d printing making is when it comes to people trying to get their homebrewed games kickstarted. In the long run I mean years and years down the road this could lead to more competition for GW which could maybe slow down the rate of inflation on GW models .
>>
High resolution prints will do well, but frankly those models in OP's pic are shit.

What are the economic implications of a bank losing the contents of its gold vault in a fantasy setting?

My initial plan is for the antagonist, who is a native of a long-suffering region that has been neglected and overtaxed by a dominating kingdom, to attempt to carry out a major heist on one of the capital city's main banks and distribute that wealth to the people. Would that be counter-intuitive? Would the region simply suffer more because of the destabilization?

We are assuming that the economy is based upon coin currency, and that the technology level is pseudo-Renaissance.

>>
The value of a country's currency drops if word ever got out.

Options would be to acquire more gold or bull some economic bullshit to try and trick everybody to making them feel like everything is ok.
>>
>>49385133

*assuming that their currency is backed by gold

If you are literally talking about the bank has no money then all those people who have their money in the back is fucked and so is the bank.

Companies closing and the such.

Also there may not be any contract talking about the state helping out people or whatever if the bank loses their money so then you get all the bad shit from that.

Probably riots.

Also probably backlash from those who are invested in having their partners get their money back as they go after the antagonist and the people he gave the money to.
>>
>>49385133
>>49385155

Hmm, okay. I guess that's out, then. He's attempting to push the kingdom into either loosening their direct control over the region or scaring them into providing more to the region so that the people stay in their good graces. While he is basically being a terrorist, he's trying not to throw the entire place into chaos, just attempting to improve life for his homeland through some carefully applied violence.

Sup, elegan/tg/entlemen? I've been toying around with running a game in a very Persona-esque setting, and I was looking for some insight on what system would be best to run it in. Thoughts?

More details needed. What's going to be the plot, bruh? That's what matters.

Even something like the setting. Is it going to take place on a train, that the further back they go, the weirder it gets.
>>
>>49384960
There are some pretty decent straight up Persona homebrews out there, that rip the game system out and make it a functional tabletop. I don't have any on the hard-drive, but if someone else does I'd appreciate a PDF.
>>
>>49385051
So the setting is very homebrew. I was inspired by Fallout, how culture kind of got 'stuck' in a period and tech moved on. In this case, magic re-appeared in thr 1980s, so neon, leather jackets, big hair, walkmans, wedge cars, demons, and fireballs.

So, and hear me out on this, i'm DMing for a group using 3.5. One of the characters plans to use the soul eater prestige class. Instead of going with the "Evil by default" rules i'm running with its description that many soul eaters are forced into it on the verge of death.

So what i'm going to do is allow this person to keep their alignment, but instead use the sanity variant rules from unearthed arcana, using it to show a decent into madness and soul sucking craziness.

So basically, i need 2 things. First is how often i should make him need to suck souls to survive (being a soul eater i'm not gonna allow him to just blow it off). The games timeframe will be pretty wide, a couple weeks between dungeons and towns due to travelling.

Second, i need to know if there's an item in 3.5 that could substitute for those needed souls without outright taking souls from things. Something he'd gain by persevering for a long enough time without going insane.

I know this is all pretty specific, but if anyone could give me advice on this, it'd be great.
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
He should need to suck souls as often as you see fit. Is he essentially a drug addict needed a fix at least once a week or is it more of just an inconvienence at one month. As for the item don't be a stupid GM. Make it up, nothing in the books matter you are the rules.
>>
>>49384611
I would rather not make up an item when there's already one perfectly capable of filling the role.

The point of me asking about the timeframe was more because i'm not sure how harsh i want it to be. To often and his character will go insane to quickly and be put down by the paladin. Too slowly and it won't matter. I want a happy medium.
>>
>>49384687

>when there's already one perfectly capable of filling the role.

I'm pretty sure 3.5 has a massive pool of items to draw from. You shouldn't be afraid to just make up one instead of sifting through all the pages.

Although if it is already an existing class then the same source might already have an item if not materials that came out around the same time.

As far as how often I'm not entirely sure. I like to imagine souls are a powerful thing irregardless of source so I'd say once a month or year. Month could definitely put on the clamps cuz weeks add up to a month real quick.
