Your party is getting ready to start their adventure. You're all level 1, with nothing but the clothes on your backs. A wizman, taking pity on your lack of equipment, transports you all to a modern day sporting goods store. You can take whatever you can carry on your person. He'll pick up the tab, then send you back to the tavern so you can start in on those rats in the basement.

What would you take with you?

Surely this sporting goods store has a hunting section. I would take a modern hunting rifle.
>>
>>49377398
Unfortunately, the store is in Connecticut, and the shopkeeper can't sell you a gun or ammunition without a permit.
>>
>>49377398

Assuming this is a standard early medieval setting, how would you know what a hunting rifle is?

Does anyone play LOTRSBG anymore? How long do you think it has left before GW officially kills it off and stops selling models? They already stopped selling most of the books.
Pic related is my small collection I got just to build and paint.

It was the first game I got into. I still have a lot of the models, including a solid Uruk-hai army from the two towers days. it was a very solid game. Yeah, it's sad that they're probably going to go away soon, but it was bound to happen.

The hobbit models look terrible.
>>

haven't played in years, I often use the models for pathfinder.

>>49377287
it's not going anywhere. It's with forge world now with Iron Hill dwarves, Dain a new supplement and old models getting re-releases happening at this very moment.

Any truth to the stories of vampires selectively preying on women with robust figures? Is it because they have more blood?

Spears are a primal weapon. It makes sense that barbarians would prefer to use spears.
Why, then, does it seem so wrong for a barbarian to use a spear instead of an axe?
40 posts and 5 images submitted.

Because an axe is viewed as weapon requiring mostly strength to use, and relates easy to survival/self reliance

Its like every game starts with a lit candle of creativity only to burn out in a few months.

If you play with the same people and they keep loosing interest then maybe it's time to try something different? If you're always getting together with whatever randoms you can find then it's random chance that they even want a long term campaign. If you're worried about how you're running games then try and look at the long running series you've watched/played/read and try and figure out what you like about them that keep you coming back. Interesting characters and stories will always help, but a lot of the time you'll have different people sharing the same story and it can be hard to keep them all invested.

When you think of a paladin, you probably think of pic related. A man (or a woman) clad in plate armor, with a sword and a shield. Probably of noble birth, probably raised in a church or a holy order, definitely on a horseback.
Due to the plot of my campaign, the players will meet a lot of paladin NPCs on their journey, and I really don't want them to be the same. Can you give me ideas for some justice dispensers? It doesn't really matter what's different about them - their equipment, their background, their character, I want your paladins - unusual or plain exotic.

Paladin/Rogue. A self-trained street rat that came into the service of the church. They keep vigil over the slums of the city where justice supposedly does not see, smiting evil where it thinks it's safest.

People really hate tl;dr's about characters but:

Street level SR campaign and everyone makes combat monster gangers with their reduced build points. I cook up a social, reasonably qt, grill that dreams of being a dancer or manager for something high society, but pays the rent by selling drugs and handling the wardrobe in a shitty Barrens streetclub.

I end up being the only one that can talk to people or even move in civilized society without causing a scene and, even though she wasn't really that smart or anything, she had more common sense than the other murder hobos/hackers.

>A tank built by hand by medieval blacksmiths

This is my dream
23 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
>>49374438

People are building castles using old techniques from those eras. You could learn medieval blacksmithing techniques and figure out how to forge a modern tank using those methods.

You may have to allow for some contemporary technology, though, like the engine and various mechanical components, plus electricity. Also the primary weapon would be hard to figure out.

Actually, it might be damn well impossible to build a tank using medieval methods exclusively, even with the requisite knowledge.

You could have a rapid fire ballista, a Greek fire thrower or a breech loading cannon with medieval technology.

The engine would be a much bigger issue.

Tell me about the fictional religions you've created, /tg/.

And I really mean that.

Not gods, not pantheons, not mythologies - religions. I don't want to hear about your boring D&D-derived "classical" anachronistic "gods". I want to hear what theologies, philosophies, and organized systems of belief exist in your fictional worlds.

Well, there's the Faith in my sci-fi setting, but it's really more of a confederation of monotheistic religions that the Varjren Empire that still ultimately places the varjrens at the top, rather than a single religion.

The basic tenet is that there is only one God. However, God reveals Himself to the various species of the universe in different ways according to their needs and His plans for them. The Faith posits that all examples of God in various cultures are the one God.

Of course, the Faith is still a political tool of the Varjren Empire, so the varjren version of monotheism is the "most" correct in their view.

Other tenets of the varjren religion that gets woven into all the religions of the Faith include the idea that blind faith is worthless, and that the lesser of two evils is still Evil and so shall still be punished. They also greatly object to the idea of the sacrifice of animals, to say nothing of sapient beings.

However since the Faith is inclusive it tends to be pretty accepting. If the varjrens rolled up to Earth they'd peg most Abrahamic religions as being compatible with the Faith...after some slight "corrections". God would not have a Son with humans (or anything), for example, although various Prophets are certainly possible, even probable.

I made several attemps at writing something, but it's not possible without mentioning the gods once.
