Alright. Let's say you had a more lighter version of the Iron golem in your game but it shares almost all the same stats expect for a few.

What would you call it? as the iron golem is already taken.

alright, so for starters I've never really been good when a player picks any kind of addiction. its always been "so did you do it today? good" I've never really worked it into the game.

but most times the players picked something that was sometimes hard to get a hold of or difficult to do.

now most recently a player of mine has chosen smoking tobacco as an addiction, nothing hard about that really, sure. then went ahead and bought a bunch of tobacco to last them awhile.

how can i better work this disadvantage out? how can i do more than just take it away every now and again when someone in town won't sell him a brick load of tobacco to smoke?

Addiction isn't fun when you actually play with it. If it starts having an affect on rolls because your player is ignoring it they'll get hissy, and if you keep reminding them, nagging them, like the addiction it is, it'll get old fast.

Players don't want to play with an addiction, they want to occasionally say "I have a smoke/take a drink/inject rat piss into my veins" and use the buy point refunds or what have you to take something mechanically helpful.

On the off chance you do have a player who appreciates that an addiction is an actual addiction, you can just keep reminding them to smoke/drink/rat piss, when they don't get the opportunity to their rolls should reflect their inability to concentrate on anything other than their vice, and they should have to actually go buy their vice. If they've got an endlessly refillable bottle/cigarette packet/jar of rat piss and no one finds it distasteful when they swig/smoke/piss up then the addiction isn't actually in play.

Fate Aspects are still the best way to handle addictions because they actively incentivize the player to have their character pursue their vice even when it would be detrimental to their own wellbeing.

Why the FUCK is it possible to open draft-only cards in rare slots in Take The Crown? Wizards already solved this problem in the first Conspiracy set. All draft-only cards were relegated to a special sixteenth slot so that you always opened a real card as your rare, not this limited multiplayer meme horseshit. That was a perfectly fine solution. Why the fuck did they walk right into a problem they had already once solved?

Neither of those because they both seem absurd, Lolth will not want her precious spiders to die in the acidic hellscape that is a vagina or the biological waste dumping ground that is the anus.

If you're looking for something insidious should the players try and diddle her slit, give her a toothy or poisonous vagina - not only does that make sense given the female domination thing Drow have going on, but it's useful for biting off the umbilical cord!

Hey /tg/, if you had to run a sci-fi game a la firefly where pcs are space travelers/explorers/smugglers/whatever, which system would you use ?

I heard about Halo Mythic but it seems too much combat-focused for me.

Basic Set, Ultratech and Biotech.
Want space combat? Spaceships series.
Want a premade setting? Transhuman Space (it's 3e though, so you shouldn't use anything but the fluff in there).

Besides GURPS, other popular systems are Traveller, Stars without Numbers, Eclipse Phase, warhams40k Rogue Trader, probably some I forget. I think Firefly had its own system as well, and there's a cowboy bebop system even

Ok thanks I'd look into those, I don't know much about GURPS so I basically only heard about the basic set before.

Also about eclipse phase : I heard a lot about it but is it playable without the whole transhumanist/bionics part ? The game seems to rely heavily on them.

For me, he's a Hawaii-shirt sporting owner of a chain of island resorts and navigator guilds in control of more than half of the world's trade and if the BBEG messed with him, it would be very inconvenient for the BBEG to try and go fishing in the ocean ever again.

my buddy and i love The Thing, both versions. and we were contemplating how to convert it into a game, a one shot most likely.

We were trying to think about things like, what would the monster be, player or npc? would the player know? if the player knew wouldn't that eliminate the fear they had and give it away? what system could we even use for such a thing?
