Alright, so I'm currently in the middle of a situation with some of my players and I'm just looking for a bit of advice.

To summarise, we've been playing a campaign for a while for a stream/YT channel. People like it and we have some fairly new players in the group. One guy decided to play a female character straight-up, no sexual overtones, just a standard alchemist/dilettante and all was fine for a decent amount of time. Then people, to be precise a particular commenter and the GM, started implying various sexual thing, despite the player asking them not to.

Recently, the commenter posted a couple of paragraphs of explicit porno about said character and when we approached the GM his attitude was effecively 'if he doesn't like it don't read it'. Which, I suppose, is sort of fair.

It's just that I know this player has a hard time speaking up anyway and as much as I love disgusting and ludicrous humor, I still feel like he's allowed to ask for this shit to acually stop.

I suppose what I'm asking is: How hard do I go at this? I really enjoy the game we play and the lewdness adds nothing to the campaign, but if I push too hard I worry the GM will just get rid of us and find new players (the joys of online gaming). Fuck it.

Help me /tg/ you;re my only hope.

You can't do individual bans or remove shit from your own jewtubes? Iunno?

Other than that, the GM is pretty much right I guess. I mean,
>youtube comments
>>
>>49435006
Do you stream first and then upload to youtube? And if so, where does this viewer normally post?

There's something you learn relatively quickly after starting a youtube channel, regardless of how big you get. If you can't take it, don't read the comments. That's really all you can do.

If the viewer is from twitch you have really no recourse, because twitch is a medium that is based on viewer interaction. Someone has to read the comments. I don't know your setup but if your channel is small it's practically impossible to shield him, doubly so if the GM doesn't want to.

I'm assuming this is youtube comments however, as the "erotic fanfic" thing is a pretty well known joke for a certain part of the youtube community. The only thing you can do is tell your friend not to read them.

The GM is probably reacting to the fanfic guy by trying to give his audience what he thinks they want. You really can't fault him for that, because this isn't your normal game. It's entertainment for others. It's sad but it just sounds like this player doesn't really have skin thick enough for the environment he's jumped into.

Hey guys,

My PCs will do some serious travelling in my next campaign (Sword coast) and a lot of it will be between small settlements. I do not want to reduce this on "you pass from one town to another", but I want to give them some fluff to chew on between two locations. Perhaps a caravan leader that tells them something about the region, perhaps a ruin that tells them something indirectly about the area, perhaps a carcass of a specific magical beast ... Unintrusive things that make a journey a bit more fleshed out.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have them pass by traveling merchants, or scenes of robberies. Great way to set up villains long before they're seen.
>>
A small bird sitting on the road, if they help it back into the nest they find a interesting or valuable item. (A key to an unknown door\chest, an interesting letter, an amulette with a description, etc.)

A traveling witch trading potions for samples of their hair and blood.

An old oak tree with a hole under its roots leading to a small cave, there could be corpses of dead animals surrounding it.

A talking mushroom daring the party to a battle of riddles.

An old sign warning of random obvious or impossible dangers. (An avalanche in a sunny forrest for example)

Said dangers appearing out of thin air.

A small cat bringing gifts to the party in form of freshly killed small critters increasing in size until it brings freshly cut human body parts.

The hut of a charcoal burner with a smoking shed infront, the smell of burning flesh is surrounding it.

A riding postman passes the party and drops a book with " positively do not read under no circumstances" on it.

A parting of the ways with a shabby wooden doll resting on the pole of a roadsign showing with the rotten hand to the left while the sign is too damaged to be read.

I like these.

So, while I was scouring over the old thread of 'gets shit done' on 1D4chan -- I started thinking about some other homebrew codices that I've run across and figured I'd get some more observation and opinion from fellow 40K derps.

I always ignore nightfighting because it's retarded that space marines and other races can't see in the dark or have the means to.

I always allow my space marine squads to break into smaller squads or individual models.

Hi, a concerned parent here, I'm new to this intertubes thing so be kind :)

My son has come home from school asking if he can play a game called "d&d", and he said he had heard about it from a friend who browses this site.

Now I've seen this kid and he has a sticker on his bag of one of those nazi Trump frogs, the "rare peepees" (the PTA sent a warning to all parents last week about how the Peepee Frog is a sign your children are part of nazi cults).

Was it the "d&d" that did this, and should I let my son play it?

There are frog men in D&D, but they aren't nazis and typically not named Pepe.
>>
>>49434602
...this is far to obvious a bait.

Though on the minute chance it's not, and you are actually serious, Dungeons & Dragons, or D&D, is a roleplaying game. Think of it as a collaborative story telling game, where each player controls a character and they work with the GM, a special role that guides the game, to tell a story.

Hello everyone. I've been alternating between player and DM for almost 5 years now, and now that my most recent campaign is coming to an end ive noticed a trend. I can't write bad guys for shit.

Players usually love my worlds, stories and characters (or so they tell me) but I've sort of realized when it comes to the final confrontation I usually drop the ball. I feel like intermediary bad guys I'm pretty good, but the final big bad in my last three campaigns has basically just been "MUHAHA! IM EVIL" or "IM NESCESARY EVIL" without being particularly fun or memorable.

So what do you guys think is are good tips to make a memorable villain?
20 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>49434601
Make them relatable.
Make them tragic.
Good villains are just as human as the hero's.

Althoughe, not saying it's bad to have an all-powerful pure evil guy once in a while.

It's just great to actually have someone feel something other than "we gotta stop 'em" when you tell them about your villain.
>>
>>49434601
Ok, the thing with a good villain is that they are someone with whom you can relate in some way. They have a believable (even if unreasonable) goal and enough reason to strive for it that they feel that the suffering of others is justified by what they are trying to achieve.

Perhaps they are a conqueror who seeks the best for his nation, even though his hubris has him thinking that whatever he wants at that moment is 'best for the nation'.
Perhaps he lost his family to some tragedy and is blinded by his grief and guilt so pays little heed to the suffering he does in order to get them back. Or even end the thing that killed them so they can rest easy and it won't happen to anyone else's family.

Basically, take a reasonable motivation and take it to an unreasonable level of devotion. A good villain is one who isn't a reasonable person, because a reasonable person can be convinced to reconsider their goal.

It is that unshakeable, insane devotion to a cause that makes a good villain scary because deep in your heart you know that they will never, ever stop.
>>
>>49434601
You're worrying overmuch about the portrayal rather then the actual personality.
Honestly, most really memorable villains are sympathetic or unsympathetic. There's rarely any actual middle ground. The difference isn't their motivations because in a lot of ways all human beings EVERYWHERE have some remarkably similar motivations, but their portrayal was extremely memorable.

Example; Darth Maul is a ridiculously flat character. He has two speaking lines and we get very little indication of his personality outside of those, and all of it revolves around this one-dimensional guy who served his master and wants to kill some Jedi. His portrayal is extremely memorable nonetheless despite his nearly nonexistent personality and motivations.

Focus less on the "why" because ultimately a person can be well-intentioned or ill-intentioned or even the most decent human being ever in secret but if he comes off as boring then the "why" he does shit is icing on top of a very boring flavored cake.

So, best way to run a Hellboy/B.P.R.D. game?

There's an official Hellboy RPG game out, published in 2003, that uses GURPS 3e.

I'm not sure GURPS would capture the feel of the Hellboy comics very well, but if anyone has played it and disagrees, please share with me your experiences with it.

The Atomic Robo RPG sounds like the perfect fit, but I'd have to change around some parts of it for it to work. For the people familiar with ARRPG, what would you change?

If that doesn't work, or requires too much tinkering, maybe just plain Fate Core might do it.

Ive used GURPS recently to run a game; it revolved around a rogue necromancer in Louisiana, and the players were a motley crew. Rehabilitated Cro-Magnon Neanderthal, a human-bullet psychic midget, and a 'totally not hellboy' tiefling with a golden tongue.

The game still used advanced combat options (hit locations, techniques, full combat options + martial arts stuff) but otherwise was a very loose, not quite !Wildcard! skills cinematic game.

The schedule killed it in the end; the game ran fine in GURPS and the 3e book converted to 4e (for some small things like expanded setting and equipment lists regarding Zinco goods) was quite helpful.

I'd go with Godlike for 30s/40s and Wild Talents for modern. The dice mechanics are really good and it's very easy to mod. Also look at Better Angels, it's different but has great ORE ideas. The system toolkit will help with any custom work.

>>
And here is the fluff about some of the hives:

The planet Unver-Seum has 4 major hives.

The biggest and most densly packed hive is hive Kors-Seum (thinking of having "Seum" meaning home/known place in the langauge that the people speak) and is home to billions of imperial souls. From the outside the hive might just look like any other hive city, but when entering it one could see that has been overgrown with the jungle covering the planet.

Hive Kors-Seum is also the home to the majority of the planets nobility and the govenor himself. They mostly live in hanging garden style mansions overlooking the upper and middle hive from their "garden towers".
But the hive isn't without it's flaws, during the rain seasons many areas in the middle, lower and underhive are subject to rapid flash floods due to heavy rainfall. Along with hostile fauna wandering into the hive, that itself takes up a lot of the arbites resources. So crime in the underhive is almost rampant

1/3
>>
these threads are real fuckin cancer
>>
>>49434337
2/3

The second largest hive is "Hive Mayra-Seum". Mayra-Seum lies on the far east continent "Normeko" and spans around a large piece of land around the coast and goes several kilometers into the ocean. This hive is the main commercial and mercantile hub for the planet. This is due to gigantic loading docks that have been constructed over the years. This has lead to the formation of a city wide dialect and langauge called "Gothic Void" on the planet. This is becuase the langauge itself is a mix of the imperial high gothic and the native langauge.
This has made the planet to be the "face" when it comes to imperial relations, this has in turn created a bit of jealousy between the leader of Hive Mayra-Seum and the govenor. But the rest of Unver-Seum wouldn't get the supplies they needed without the support from Mayra-Seum.

The hive is also known for hunting the exotic Jaw Serpents. These serpents have often been called the kings of the oceans. Mainly due to their speed and snake like maw that are rumored to be big enough to eat boats and even aircraft that fly to close to the ocean.

The underhive is also a hotspot for smugglers, crime lords and other forms of criminals. The most notorious crime boss is Cassy "the Snake" Korger. She is wanted and sought after due to her being able to hide and smuggle rogue psykers off world, away from the black ships.

Godbound General!

What is Godbound? It's a 3pp Pathfinder class that basically transforms Pathfinder into a brand new game, though still a d20 game.

In Godbound, you play a Godbound. You're a superpowered godling whom no mortal hero can stop, no matter how powerful they are. If you're a level 1 Godbound and the other guy is a level 20 mortal wizard, you'll win because your can fling your divine powers at them and they'll have no chance of resisting. Your only opposition comes from other Godbound.

What kind of Godbound can you play? Think of an Exalted type. Those are the playable Godbound, because Godbound's setting is actually just Creation from Exalted. So you can play a Solar Godbound, a Lunar Godbound, a Sidereal Godbound, an Alchemical Godbound, or whatever.

What do you do in Godbound? Take over the world, try to make the world better, or both. But don't worry, because this game doesn't have any clunky domain management rules to slow you down. You'll just have to trust in your GM to fiat how things work in downtime.

Sounds good?

>>
>>49433193
I don't get it. This is just exalted? Or is it a specific different setting? Or D&D with epic level characters from the start?
>>
>>49433208
Yep, it's D&D Exalted and is _exactly_ as shitty as that sounds.
>>
>>49433313
Yeah, gotta ask, why would I play DnD Exalted, when I could play Exalted Exalted? I mean, they're both broken shit systems, but at least Exalted is interesting conceptually.

I mean, I kinda like the idea of Godbound as presented, but trying to make it DnD Exalted rather than DnD classic God-King edition is retarded.
