Roll under or Roll over, which one is better?
36 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>49348503
It depends

But the way GURPS handles roll under is pretty solid. 3d6 bell curves and the assumption of 10 as the average.
>>
Looks like a wall to me.
>>
>>49348520
Generally speaking the more dice you're rolling, the more 'average' the result will be. Of course, it'll vary, but the bell curve will be more accurate with more dice. 3d6 is pretty good for this, but other piles-o-dice systems can also work.

I just started a Khorne daemonkin army, which happens to be my first serious delving into the tabletop aspect of this hobby. Reason i was drawn to KD was the CSM/Khorne Daemon combo it's got going on and the fact the new Daemon models look fantastic imo (not to mention the Lore behind these guy's is as brutal as it gets.). I've yet to actually play a game (time constraints.) so i couldn't tell you how it's fairing gameplay-wise but i look forward to it.

Sister of Battle because no one played them, and I loved how they played.

>tfw the models I bought 12 years ago are the most recent versions

That being said, I don't think I regret picking them. I love when I play new people because they've almost never seen a Sisters of Battle army, let alone one that can do 1500+ points. I'm also glad I started playing them when they were readily available.

My only regret is not getting more models and immolators while I could.

Describe members of your adventuring party without saying what they look like, what kind of costume they wear or what classes and abilities they have. Describe their characters to me as if I've never played DnD.
Also, refrain from describing your own characters. I'm sure they're very complex and multi-dimensional inside your head, but other players at your table can't read your thoughts. What matters is the outside perspective.

I don't get why appearance is apparently bad

"he's an old bearded man" is fine. "She's unkempt, but still wears an expensive necklace" describes a character

So fuck your "le funnay bad movie man with le funnay voice" shit because it reduces characterisation to a fucking meaningless checklist

I agree describing a character with a word salad of game classes is terrible but appearance is pretty fucking universal
>>
>>49435297
>I don't get why appearance is apparently bad

Appearance isn't bad.

It's that you should be able to describe a person without saying what they look like. You should be able to tell a person about a character and they'll come up with an accurate picture on their own.

Character traits inform non-genotype appearance, not the other way around.

So, you are on fire with your character, rolling good ones to perform great skill checks and hitting those attacks, nailing those saving throws, but what was the Nat 1 that ruined your momentum?

I make all players adhere to the same rules.

I like the buy attribute system and usually lower the 27 points to 23-25. I enjoy having characters who have some stats at a disadvantage. But I do usually discuss my plans with players, sometimes they ask me to keep it at 27, so I do.

Gold I usually work with the group and give them gold based on the adventure, characters and setting.

The character stuff I allow them to go hog wild with. Most anything they want I allow, but their ideas must fall under one of the backgrounds. So if someone comes up to me with a Guard Captain background I would use the city watch background as a jumping off point and homebrew a bit of the bonuses.

Have fun, let your players be creative but don't let them be super OP.

I'm actually the player. Since I'm new and haven't found a group yet, I was wondering if I should make a character sheet beforehand or wait until I meet them. Is there generally a time before the campaign starts to allow players to make their characters?

Stand: [ARTIFICIAL HEART]
Namesake: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_Heart_(album)
Appearance: A small, bright white humanoid, resembling a robotic baby. The ball-joints that connect its moving parts are purple.
Ability: Remote Manipulation. [ARTIFICIAL HEART] can place on/off switches on mechanical objects (anything with moving parts, basically) by touching them. By flipping one of these switches to the ON position, [ARTIFICIAL HEART] allows its user to control the machine from afar. [ARTIFICIAL HEART] may only place 3 of these switches at any given time, and these switches do not allow the machines to move in any way they could not be moved manually, they simply may be manipulated at a distance (e.g. driving a car at range).

Hi /tg/, I'm an illustrator looking to get in on the scene. I'm currently doing stuff for Games Workshop although they've yet to give me any work since getting in with them.

I've applied to Wizards, Paizo, and Hex today, but was wondering if there were any other "big" companies that I should try sending my stuff to?

>>
>>49451533
Look man if you are at GW already, yo should be doing fine. You also applied to the right laces if you want to go to the biggest companies. However do not count out the video game scene apply everywhere you can.
>>
>>49451585
Dunno how 1 and 2 are contradictions. A lot of companies don't send you work for a long, long time. I've been told that Wizards usually goes 7-weeks between jobs.

Also I don't understand your 3rd statement. I know about those companies because some of them are big ass companies, or in the case of Hex, I have a friend who does stuff for them.

I really don't have much to gain by making a fake post to ask for other RPG companies. I dunno what anyone would gain from that.

>>49451645
Haven't really got anything from GW (can't specify when I got in, but it's been a long time). I need money while I wait for them.
