How would newtypes work in warhammer 40k?
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ohnyl_Colonies
^That made me think about them.
How would you have them work in 40k? A kind of genetic mutation like Navigators? Divergent evolution of psykers? How would they work in WH40K RPG?
>>50190631
Newtypes make no sense in 40k. You can't have a power of possibilities and the potential for understanding in a universe where there is only war. Gundam is a story about how mankind keeps failing to progress and become something better and more enlightened. But that's due to our failures, not the fact that the universe is full of horrors that would eat our minds from the inside out if we tried to use the magic rainbow naked space to communicate with them.

>How would they work in WH40K RPG?
Divination and telepathy.
Why did Black Library choose to push the lolchaos dagger instantly turning Horus?
I was reading through the Collected Visions and Horus being driven by ambition and the belief he was the equal to the Emperor, fear of being left behind like the thunder warriors because of the High Lords, and generally being in control of himself up until the Siege of Terror made me for the first time not think of him as just Chaos's little bitch. His conversations with the demon Fulgrim and Magnus in particular show this off, with him viewing chaos more as an ally to be dealt and bargained with then an overarching goal.
I just dont feel that way about the BL version of Horus where he feels like he has no say in the decisions. To me he's a much more compelling character even in the shorter pieces we get about him in CV then what I've read of the HH series so far.
Am I wrong? If I am tell me why because I want to like Horus as hes supposed to be the best of the Primarchs but I'm just not seeing it.
I haven't read CV but I have read the first third of the HH series. I agree that Horus seems to fall too quickly. He's going about the Crusade business, gets some accolades and a new role, and then gets wounded. We quickly go to Davin and just kind of pussy foot over any real details of the turn. It's been over 5 years since I read the novels so my memory may have glossed over a few things.
I stopped caring about the HH series from BL about the time the one with the dinosaurs came out, but I distinctly remember in the one where Fulgrim became the demon his legion was working with the Iron Warriors, and Pertuarbo and his legion were disgusted by what the Emperor's Children had become, because they believed they were simply rebelling against a distant and uncaring father figure, and a government that didn't appreciate them. They thought Horus would make a better Emperor and they followed him, at the time ignorant of the chaos side of things, and I think that made them one of the most interesting and compelling chaos legions at the time.
>>50190358
Well, I read the first three HH novels recently, and I would say it's kind of a mix of those two views.
Horus already had doubts about the Great Crusade.
Meeting the Interex made him realize that there were alternatives to the Imperium's brutality (and yes, even the "golden age" Imperium was still pretty brutal). He was becoming increasingly suspicious of the Emperor's motives. He didn't want to be stuck doing the heavy lifting wild dad fucked off to do esoteric shit.
All the dagger stab does is put him in a trance/coma, wherein he learns what Chaos is and what the big E has been hiding from him. Does the warp subtly influence his mind? Probably. But mostly, it's portrayed as him being given new information and making a choice based on that. Even after his conversion, his goals seem to be primarily political rather than religious.
Ladies and Gentlemen; I have frightening news. Some one, on this very board, is a heretical Xeno. We have also recieved reports that some one here is worshipping the Dark Gods.
Thankfully, I have been able to contain them this to very thread! All we need to do now is to deduce who the alien, and who the heretic is!
>>50189961
Does one of them always lie and one of them always tell the truth?
>>50189968
We have deduced that one always lies about the truth and the other always tells the truth about lies. Or, was it the other way around?
>>50189998
So if we ask them which one of them is deceitfully telling truths and which one of them is telling truths about the lies, what would happen?
I'm thinking of buying a board game to play with my friends and this caught my eye. How convoluted is it? I haven't played Talisman btw.

What is your favorite monster, and how are you going to buff it up to CR 30? Then, how is your party going to beat it?
I thought of a way to make sorcerers not suck. Just give them the option to switch spells known/prepared/whatever after a long rest the way every other caster can. Wizards can change spells daily from their book of infinite spells, clerics and druids just meditate on it, but sorcerers? Nah fuck them, they can only change spells on a level up.
>>50187840
Bards, rangers, EKs, and ATs are all spells known casters as well.
>>50187862
Bards are the jack of all trades master of none, the others aren't fullcasters.

>A campaign settings where members of the Wizard Guild dip
>>50185412
I mean, sure, but that's not a setting. That's a minor detail of a setting, with no particular consequences or implications. What are we supposed to be considering?
>meet pleasant NPC
>"you don't like him"
>enter miserable place
>"you like this city a lot"
>be forced to take a drug I'm addicted to or act like a junkie piece of shit for the rest of the day
>"you feel great and you love the stuff"
What is it with bad GMs and character hijacking? When was it the last time a GM invaded on your character's personality?
>>50185370
It's lack of communication with the DM. I find a lot of them when DM's say stuff like: "You feel x", or "You think X", or "You see/do X" that the player has failed to communicate what their character is trying to gain knowledge of, do, or what his/her personality is like to the DM. It's not about hijacking. Take your mind control/charm spell bait elsewhere.
>>50185370
>>enter miserable place
>>"you like this city a lot"
How do you know the place is miserable? What the DM is doing here is what could be called reverse worldbuilding. Instead of building a city that makes you say "I like this place", he tells you that you like this place so you imagine the rest of your city in your head.
Your scenario is impossible unless the DM directly contradicts himself.
>meet pleasant NPC
He's emitting a weak level of negative energy/has a control unit making a high pitched whining sound outside of character perception which the players fail to make hidden perception checks for
>"you feel uneasy despite his pleasant demenor"
>enter miserable place
Area-wide mood enhancing spell to keep slave-drones in line, or undetectable mood-enhancing gas
>"you like this city a lot!"
>be forced to take a drug I'm addicted to
>forced to take
>drug I'm addicted to
Fuck off at this point, you take an addiction flaw at anything other than the lowest level and you're a goddamn junkie with various levels of discretion.
Because stopping at this point would be breaking tradition.

>>50183689
heathen implies believing in other gods. synonymous with pagan.
apostate is sorta like atheist, areligious or anticlerical guy
heretic comes from word "free choice" and means all of the above
and one word is enough, since they all gotta burn anyway
