Did anyone else like Age of Sigmar more before they added in the points?

I understand that t was not ideal for competitive play at all, but atleast it forced players to be honest with eachother and have generally more balanced and relaxed games


the main problem I find in games that use points like W40K is that people justify using insanely broken lists by saying "well i paid the points for it". on top of that I think the act of affixing a point value to a unit causes more butthurt to the player if it gets destroyed
Thoughts?

Hey /tg/, I'm thinking about running a tabletop-type game for a few friends of mine set in a specific location from a previous campaign they all played in. It's an island equivalent of Las Vegas, with cards, roulettes, prostitution, alcohol, mafia, etc etc.

The problem I'm encountering is that I want it to be based around actually PLAYING the games that would be simulated in-campaign. So we would be gathered around a table, playing (some modified variation of) poker, or baccarat, or whatever. The thing is, I want to retain the more roleplaying aspects of it, like being able to roll a bluff check, or being able to use "skills" in the course of the real-world game that would somewhat be the equivalent of cheating.

What I'm looking for is basically an RP system intended to directly overlay real-world card games. Is this a thing? If it doesn't outright exist, is it something /tg/ has discussed before and come up with a system for somewhere in the archive?

I'm starting a new session and the setting is 21st century with weird-ish elements

I am playing it safe and making a character that is essentially a modern day Paladin/Knight with elements of Don Quixote.

What's a good gun that a Paladin would use in the first century?

While I know that it was my fault since I spoiled my players by allowing them to play without asking them to read the rules on their own, most of them accepted the situation and decided to move onto something simpler so that they have a better idea on how to build their characters.
I still have issues with that one player, and I'm really considering slapping his shit so that he can see how little understanding of the system he has.

In a scale of 1 to 10 of the dickscale, how much of a dick would I be if I offered these players one last boss battle in pathfinder to show how an actual battle of that level goes? No holding back punches, only two optimized level 18 enemies, they know what classes those guy are and both have enough prep time for the battle.
Note: My players had to be reminded each session how to add attack bonuses.

Can we get a thread going about some of the ugliest models ever released by GW?

I think we can all agree that GW makes some of the best plastic model kits out there (even if they are over priced) but some of the things they release are just plain retarded, and you have to wonder what they were thinking when they made them

Im not talking about models that are low res or from the rogue trader days, no im talking about models like pic related that utilize all of GW's model making know- how and modern casting techniques, but are visually repulsive.

What the hell were they thinking when they green lit this flyer? Not only does 0% of it actually make any goddamn sense but it looks like someone took a regular flyer, left it out in the sun all day, and then blew air into like a glass blower.
