Alright.

1st one: What happens if i cast Blessed Alliance with one or two escalate costs when enemy has Eidolon of the Great Revel on the table?
Do I still take the damage or not?
>>
>>50911188
The Converted Mana Cost of a card is the sum of the symbols in the top-right. That's all it'll ever be; no more and no less. Whether you're paying 0, W, 1W, 5W, or WUBRG to cast Blessed Alliance, it has a CMC of 2, because that's the sum of the symbols in the top right of the card. No matter what you're paying to cast it, it'll always trigger Eidolon of the Great Revel.

Lets say my opponent flashes back Faithless Looting and i counter it with Remnand.

Does the spell he flashbacked goes back to his hand?

So if you are running a setting where pillage and rape are a fact of life how do you portray rape victim? Would they be traumatized like women of today? Would they think nothing of it since it hapens often? I can't imagine any peasant to hold her virtue in high regars in these circumstances
45 posts and 8 images submitted.
>>
>>50910386
It can give you the oportunity to crate a lot of thing. Lets say a more inocent women or a woman of a higher class. You can make then traumatized ptsd victims or a character that learned that the real world can be a bad place in the worst way possible. Or you can make them more realist about this thing, it was bad. . but life go on. This depends also of who the characters was and what impacts rape would ocur in a character of that mindset( there is a diference on what would ocurr in the mind of a young female cleric and in and tavern wench)
>>
>>50910386
Really make sure rape needs to be there. If you put rape in there and it does nothing to enhance the character it's kinda pointless and sick-minded. If there is a trait that can be gained without rape I would chose that. However if I were to make a villain I would have him rape no doubt.

Self-pity is the ugliest of emotions. Grow up.

Hi guys. So, working on a d% system with only one roll for its combat resolution. Player rolls a d% to attack and get everything from it:
- if roll is under (his base accuracy minus target dodge) is a hit.
- weapons deal damage based on how low you roll (a sword does 9 damage if <25%, 6 if <50% and 3 if <75%)
- hit location works by switching the numbers (so a hit with 37% checks the 73 on hit location)
- hitting doubles (11, 22, 33...) allow special effects to take place.

I want more on this.

What can I use for the sum of the numbers? Or if I reduce the higher from the lower? Or multiply them? I want one roll to give me the most info about the attack as possible.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Are you aware that your damage thresholds are fixed while your to hit is variable, meaning that incompetent people are only able to hit for high damage....other than that it looks too much trouble to keep on messing with a single roll
>>
>>50909715
> I want one roll to give me the most info about the attack as possible.
Commendable, just don't let it get more complicated than just rolling another die.

>hit location works by switching the numbers (so a hit with 37% checks the 73 on hit location)
Works pretty well (see 40k RPGs).

>weapons deal damage based on how low you roll (a sword does 9 damage if <25%, 6 if <50% and 3 if <75%)
Fairly certain this is a bit finicky. calculating percentages of a percentage is a bit complex.

>What can I use for the sum of the numbers? Or if I reduce the higher from the lower? Or multiply them?
What more do you want from an attack? You've got hit location and a suggestion of damage, as well as a way to add special effects. What more do you need?
If you do choose to use either summing or multiplication, do a bit of spreadsheet magic and figure out where your distribution lies and the probabilities and positions of each result. Some results can only occur at the top and bottom, respectively.

If you're interested, there's the blackjack-like system in RuneQuest 6/Mythras. You roll, and the closer to your skill, the better. So a roll of 50 versus skill 55 is really good, while a roll of 14 isn't so good. Critical rolls occur is one tenth of your skill, rounded up, and always trump regular rolls. With 55 in a skill, critical range is 1-6. Higher criticals trump lower ones. In opposed rolls, whoever rolls the highest but still succeed wins, with crits beating normal rolls as above. No calculating how much under you rolled, just comparison. Fumbles are at rolls of 00.
Also, in combat, almost all rolls are opposed, and the difference in success levels dictate how many special manoeuvres you perform (like ignore armour, max damage, unbalance opponent, cause bleeding, etc). So a successful attack versus a failed block is one effect for attacker.

I think there was a light/sample version around if you're curious.
>>
>>50909801
While you're right, the idea is that a professional can hit more often, even if doing less, than a nobody, but when he hits was lucky enough to do damage. I could go percentage of percentage like >>50909836 misundertood, but no.

>>50909836
I guess I could use the other means as variables. Warriors can use maneuvers at doubles, rogues do extra damage on sneak attack equal to the sum, cleric heals the multiply if he hits the skill...

And as >>50909801 said, while optimal, one roll can become convoluted and too much table checking if done wrong. That's why I would like /tg/ advice on how to deal with it.

/tg/, I need some help on steering my party away from this insane path they've chosen. Faced with the choice of investigating the dangerous cult of abyssal-monster worshipping madmen who they know are close to turning all life into monstrous forms, or killing pic related, they have chosen the latter.

Some campaign background first.
> Running DnD 4th edition, am forever DM since my friends insist I put my degree to good use
> Also whole table is fond of randomly rolled people, towns, and even higher stuff like pantheons, with huge excel documents we all dump inspiration into
> this game is a standard enough party, CE tiefling barb, TN elf diplomancer, and fellow /tg/ bro who's playing a CG Fey Corgi bard/fighter that worships Petyr the War Beagle. Also an NPC priestess because they didn't have a healer.
> part of a Netherlands-ish trading empire, playing in the not!Mediterranean. Have been working with NPC priestess to investigate why our country isn't getting the amount of tariff on goods we should.
Without giving too much of the plot away (as I mentioned, there is at least one player I know for sure who browses /tg/), they've discovered a cult of not!Atlanteans and who blatantly state they want humanity to 'evolve' into monstrous abyssal fish/slug/snake/whatever men.

The whole foxsquirrel problem started when they first arrived. Wanting to give them an easy first encounter, I had their ship flounder off a reef, so they had to swim to shore. This is where my randomly rolling system bit me in the arse.
I rolled their enemy would be a God's minon. Easy enough. God rolled was Chaotic Evil. Expecting a shark or something, I was kinda amazed to get "Rodent", with the characteristic "Cute" right after that. I asked the players if they wanted a reroll, they thought it was hilarious there was a chaotic neutral god that had cute rodents, and the elf player cracked a joke it was like a foxsquirrel, at which point the idea stuck.
Things quickly got out of hand.

So upon wading ashore, they're greeted with a small, reddish-brown and white furred foxsquirrel chowing down on a fish that's washed ashore. Laughing among themselves, they decided to pet it.

Since it was chaotic evil and basically a blood-crazed monster, I had it go apeshit crazy and try to rip it's way through their boots until they got bored of trying to capture it alive and just stomped on it's head. Thinking that would be the end of it, they headed up the beach towards the nearby town, looking for supplies to repair their ship and get to their real destination.

In town, they saw a few more of these little things around, and were surprised they were much more docile than the ones on the beach. While buying repairs from a merchant, he mentioned in passing they were just a pest around the islands, and that if they saw any it'd be a good idea to leave them alone, since I'd dug myself into a hole and wanted to move on from this mistake.
The barbarian, laughing, asks how something so tiny could harm him. Since I didn't have an idea at the time, I just blurted out the first thing on my mind.
> well if they catch you while you're asleep they might
When they got back to the ship, they insisted they scour the hold and actually managed to find a few that had slipped aboard, and demanded they be thrown overboard. Not being able to swim (for reasons that the ocean in this area is polluted with not!Atlantean magic which is anathema to the gods powers), the little foxsquirrels died like rats.
Fastfowards the campaign a bit, they haven't run into these things again except in towns, and they've made sure to check the inns are free of them. Cult has been discovered to be tampering with the shipping manifolds (a few laughs that something so innocuous brought the party here when they've seen blatant human sacrifice performed by these guys) Priestess has been interrogated under suspicion of being a cult member, and they've stopped for the night to do some camping.

This is where the madness begins. Greetexting to save space
> Party has set up camp for the night with their traveling caravan. All their goods are in a cart, and there are a few other merchants who are traveling together for safety from bandits.
> Corgi bro uses his nose to see if anything is nearby
> Discover that there's 3 dens of animals
> Roll to see what kind of animals
> All three are dens of these foxsquirrels
> Party is nervy, but agrees that one person on watch should be okay
> Don't tell the other NPCs about the foxsquirrels.

> night rolls on. Barbarian is on watch when he makes his first of many spot checks and detects a small foxsquirrel rooting among the bags
> barbarian smash with hammer
> these things are so small I have been ruling any damage is enough to kill them. A splatter of blood is all that's left to mark it's existence
> blood scent wafts. Crickets stop chirping.
> Hiss rises from the trees
> Barbarian spots bright green eyes and wonders if he fucked up
These little bastards had gotten upwards of 90 on every 1d100 roll I had to check the numbers coming out of their dens. There was a fucking horde out there, capable of 1d4 bite attacks a turn, and with their blood lust from their dead comrade, they were fucking pissed. The party saw three of their merchants go down before they grabbed the horses and legged it down the road at night.
Again, I thought it was nothing. They'd lost their caravan sure, but they recovered it the next day, and only really saw a few merchants get nommed. No big deal, right?
In the next village they saw a little girl playing with one of these foxsquirrels, and the Elf, who until now hated working with the barbarian, gladly teamed up in beating her head in, and throwing her down a well, before adding the foxsquirrel to the impromptu grave.

I'm fucking terrible at social hidden-role games. Werewolf, Resistance, Spyfall, Secret Hitler, you name it. If a game has any sort of secret traitor role, I ALWAYS either:
>Come off as excessively pro-team, arousing suspicion when I'm just trying to get things done.
>Come off as excessively quiet (usually as a knee-jerk reaction to the previous case) and arouse suspicion anyway
>Give off some stupid sign like staring intently at a particular part of the board or not making eye contact with people (even if the supposed "tell" has nothing to do with anything, it throws people off)
>Show the pressure of poor performance over the course of several rounds, getting even worse as I continue into multiple games or rounds
I don't get it. I'm not even that awkward around my own friends, but for some reason I'm just awful at these kinds of games. I can even hold my own lying and bluffing in free-for-all games like Coup, but for some reason I always fuck things up in team games. How the fuck do I get better at them?

Choose a gimmick and stick to it as a persona - it's easier to act like another person in your own way as any alignment - then work on your deduction skills based as much on facts as possible. The deduction is important to figure out teammates or opposition. Basically get used to "lying" if you are a good guy or a bad guy, you have to always be ready to be either in those games.

If you can nail a consistent behavior pattern you will be much harder to read.
>>
>>50907479
Just admit it, you're bad at them because you're autistic.
>>
>>50907560

This. You need to adopt a single pattern of behaviour no matter what. Any variation and people will get suspicious.

Where can I learn about Tarot games and get a deck that has nothing to do with all that occult "the cards know the future" horseshit?

I'm genuinely interested in proper Tarot and want to keep as far away from the new age cartomancy crap as I can, even if that means taking a graphic design course to make my own cards just so I can keep as far away from the superstitious crap.
13 posts and 3 images submitted.

Without all the new age crap it's really just a gimmick set of cards. I don't even think there's a whole lot of consistency in cards that make up a tarot deck. Some of them do have pretty cool designs though

tarot decks themselves had the occult stuff pasted on over top of the games because of a french guy's dream diary. other than that it's just a weird deck.

Why the hell did he fellate the other mage so much?

>game is Rogue Trader
>GM sends us to a chaos infested temple
>pass through a big spooky archway
>each of us is to be tempted according to our major vice
>session ends with us walking through
>next week rolls around
>old friend we haven’t seen in a while comes by and wants to play

Now here, we probably should have done something different in retrospect. Old Friend is the That Guy, because as it turned out, he had no interest in, or knowledge of the setting. We tried to explain the basics of the setting but we would get shit like…

>”Okay Anon, I see you’ve picked seneschal, cool, we really needed one, so what’s he like”
>”He’s a sniper”
>”O-oh, uhh, alright. What’s his name?”
>”Joe Bullet”
>”Umm, thats not really a name in this setting…”
>”Oh, fine, Josephus “Joe” Bullet

Which really isn’t that big a deal, there are all kinds of weirdos in 40k, but we really should have taken that as evidence of his ambivalence for the game. The next issue was admittedly on the GM, who was unaware we were getting a new member, and thus, when we entered through the archway, he just stuck him into my temptation dream.

>Be Rogue Trader, being tempted by woman in sexy black dress, or I would be being tempted, were it not for Joe…
>”NO BOSS SHE’S A HOOKAH, STOP, SHE’S A HOOKAH! (He was doing this weird as fuck accent)”
>I continue to attempt to hear what this entity of chaos is offering
>Joe takes of his shirt, pisses on it and starts whipping me with it
>Chaos Demon uses magic dream chains to restrain Joe, but he is undeterred, and begins peeing on the ground and rolling around in the piss mud like a retard
>”HOOKAH, HOOKAH”
>Finally the Chaos demon starts offering power in exchange for service, the usual chaos shit, and then he starts throwing fucking piss mudballs at us both

The GM ended the dream segment in frustrated resignation and we moved on

That being said, it was probably the best game I ever played. It had everything, That Guys, Gaming group drama(We almost stopped hanging out over some shit that happened), a group directed story with the GM just sort of being our Facilitator(As I think all Rogue Trader games end up being) It didn’t end up finishing for the same reason every game ends prematurely, but I still hope one day we might come back to it.
>>
Holy shit, I just pissed myself laughing

Joe Bullet is already the best character in the entire fucking 40k universe. Everything you just described was hilarious, and not even in a game-derailing way.

>>
>>50898648
It's a pretty simple and straightforward system.
There's a lot of potential for interesting stuff, too.
>>
I like the system a lot and the setting. The monster manual is a thing of nightmares. And it's the only sci-fi/fantasy I've encountered that I fully enjoy.
>>
I run a Numenera game twice a month and it's fantastic.
The system is simple abs easy to learn, it's a breeze to GM and come up with encounters on the fly.
I will say that the setting itself leaves a bit to be desired, mainly because a lot of things just get handwaved away with "soooOOOOooo weeeeeird!!!" as the only explanation. It actually gets boring after a bit.
With a good GM, though, this game is definitely a gem.

Requesting a picture of a group of stormcast eternals being overwhelmed by a seemless endless tide of Nurglings, with hands, heads and legs sticking out from the mass of Nurglings to further add to the "endless tide". If you feel like adding additional things to make the picture better then feel free to do so.

Thanks in advance Drawfriends.

My reason for wanting this is becuase my group of 6 Nurgling swarms killed all stormcast in a single combat phase in my previous AoS game I played
