So we share quite a few ideas for things we that could be used, and already have mods for it.
There was in particular as suggestion for a mix of Dark Heresy and Legends of the Wuilin that sounded interesting.

Honestly, I think that an Eclipse Phase hack would probably fit. I did a really loose version of it to play not!Warframe with my group and it worked. It would take a bit more banging around to get it to an actually playable shape, but it was enjoyable.

Seriously man, I love what Eclipse Phase tries to be, and I support the devs, but their system in a clunky piece of shit that ignores all the advancements in game design made from the nineties, and their idea of combat balance is hilariously lacking.
If you're gonna steal a ststem, you need to nab one that can things like "you are being fired on with several rocket launchers, napalm launchers, and heavy machine guns simultaneously", "you are currently poisoned, bleeding, caught in corrosive tar and coated in swarming nanoplague" and "you are currently fighting fifty laser-spewing deathbots while standing in a minefield and unable to use any of your powers." Like, those are things that warframes just deal with on a mission-to-mission basis, but handling them in an eclipse phase hack would be time-consuming as fuck in addition to being way more lethal than they should be.
IMO, you want to pick something that supports handling masses of enemies in an abstract yet satisfying way, lets you pile on effects without slowing the game down, and encourages ludicrous mobility.

What are some interesting ideas for magic that don't fit within typical "elemental"/arcane stuff? Personally, I've always had an interest in Tarot-themed magic, where it might work by actually changing fate, or the spells cast are decided by what the caster draws from a deck.
While the concept really excites me, I'm not entirely sure how it would work in execution, if it even would. Any other ideas?

Isn't the more "traditional" form of casting present in D&D via the Warcraft RPG? Can always hack off those mechanics and use them as a base for deck-based spells. Could have sworn this was a thing in a specific roguelike.

so i just finished reading Master of Mankind (was a really good read) and in the Authors note ADB talks about how chaos has won and the entire setting is basically everyone fighting a losing war against them. now correct me if im wrong but before wasn't GW keeping an open end "yeah its all grimdark and stuff but your faction has a chance at winning and we will keep it on that threshold" state to the setting, whereas now its shaping up to be The End Times IN SPAAAAAAACE (they even released a new giant evil wizard model)

They really want Chaos to win as it's the edgefaggiest outcome, so they're constantly pushing toward that resolution as much as they can, against corporate's obvious desire to still have a product to sell. In a weird way I think they were happy when WHFB's sales started to flag so they could have Chaos win canonically once and for all.Otherwise they would've retconned the Emperor to be slowly healing circa 2002.
