The general plot is that the Germans hold out over the enter of 1918. Come spring, the Allies begin their offensive, only for the strain on the French homefront to become too much. As things in France begin to break down, the Spanish Flu mutates into a far more virulent form. Instead of a 3% world fatality rate, the rate was closer to 10%. Order immediately broke down, spreading from the front throughout Europe and into Russia; eventually covering the globe. This mass death, far greater than the millions who died in the war, broke something in reality, piercing a hole in the veil between the world of the living and the dead. The bodies of the dead rise, machines of war become possessed, and civilization collapses.
My particular plan is for the players to be the crew of a Medium Mark C, abandoned on the front, encamped in a forest to wait out the worst of the flu.
I'd like some help for which system I should use and some ideas for monsters, campaign ideas, etc. Right now I'm considering Twilight: 2000. HERO system has been suggested, but I'm not familiar with it.
Fucking Madagascar will probably make it through. Shut down everything.
> you will never open fire into a squad of female "dough, boys" charging across open ground toward you, cranking your maxim machine gun fire to bark and crackle, ripping into the grimy young women's bodies and tearing through their soft young innocent flesh, some of them are still virgins who were drafted right from high school, and now they will die having never experienced some idea intercourse. As their bodies pile up your bullets begin to tear into the already fallen corpses, making their asses and thighs jiggle from the impact, the few survivors trapped under the corpses of their comrades, pinned down and left to bleed out, whimpering helplessly as carrion birds gather, pecking at their eyes and exposed thigh muscle, the dead women trapped and utterly vulnerable, their corpses consumed by the hungry vultures and digested to make energy for the birds, the bloated corpses rotting, their bellies bursting from gas buildup and shitting themselves as their bowels loosen in the soothing clutch of death.

Well if we're posting monsters.
Friendly reminder that 2hu should be banned from the Molthune game and all future /pfg/ games for being an asshole.

Hi guys, I'm a new DM running a fairly trad fantasy game soon for new players and I need a system. Dungeon World is appealing, but neither me nor my players like its class based race restrictions.
If it has any influence at all on your advice the setting I have sketched is based on Dark Ages Britain and I've made sure all of the core classes and races have their place, I think it's a setting which gives the players a lot of threats and agency and they should find it compelling.
>>50895860
Dungeon World is one of those systems that really needs a GM that can play it. It's a bit, special let's just say.
Personally I love playing it (even if there are some stuffs in it that suck) but that's mainly because my GM's really good with the system. I tried running it 2x and neither time did I have any fun. The GMing side of the system's just not for me.
I'd say that give it a try. If it's not working for you then just switch to something else.

Apocalypse World: Fallen Empires.
I've just bought this game. I've never played board games before beside shit like monopoly. What am i getting into? Is it money well spent?
>>50895361
Now, when you bought it, why would you ask? Just try it yourself and see if you like it. If you do - it is money well spent. If you don't - ebay is an option.
Game of Thrones is fun, although it's a long game, it can take a good few hours to play, longer if you've got new players.
That all being said? I've had fantastic times with it. It really captures the feeling of intrigue well, the backstabbing politics of Westeros, so as long as your friends are fans of the books or series they should enjoy it.
Helpfully there's also a full video tutorial on Youtube, which is very helpful for getting a hang of the basics.

If you've ever played Diplomacy, the two games are very similar. The GoT version just has a few extra rules added in, which makes for a little more intricate diplomacy and intrigue, but does load up on the random elements slightly.
This is your BBEG's henchwoman from now on.
How does this affect your game?

Anyone knows if this model will ever be available for sale freely and not through a weird and expensive as fuck system only working for brand new stores?
>>50894671
1) Chinaman make 100 per week
2) The point is that only 0.00001% of Marinefags will care about ShittyChaplain#1877442, but will probably buy enough 40k they wont or glue paint just beause they can't control their autism
3) If you are not a newfag you should be pretty bro with your local GW manager and it can give it to you (how most people had them) because no one is realistically going to pay MSRP instead of ordering through Wayland
>>50894892
>instead of ordering through Wayland

>>50894892
But from what I understand, only newly opened stores have them. I'll think about Wayland, thanks.
My DMing style is generally freeform and my players predisposed to shenanigans, but two things I have found are consistently enjoyed by both player and DM is this:
>char Gen
>Loot
With a strong 3rd for
>dice tables
To this end I've struck out to create a d100 system that strongly incorporates breeding and character generation with important choice but strong elements of "randomization" based on how your parent (previous character) lived and with whom they mated.
Starting money, inherited loot, old friends of parent with longer lifespans for allies, ancient blood fueds, etc., all on the table alongside racial/facial traits.
>basic concept
You do the life before, dungeon delve, and post-delve life of an adventurer in 1 sitting. Next sitting/session/2 hours later you're they're descendant.
This might be an awesome idea, flesh it out
>>50894576
So you're saying that your game is going to be crossing four generations in as many weeks, assuming of course a 1-a-week setup.
The system sounds really neato, but maybe have a plan for the course of the world over the next X years while time goes by.
>>50894686
As someone who loves world building and making roll tables, I'll be sure to account for this in the DM section.
Character basics thusfar:
3 Core stats (rate 1-100):
Resolve, Talent, Physique.
An average human has between 20 and 40 of each, but that's for generics--we'll work through characters, then how their genes interact, which comes to an important attribute that may be stupid but I think could be fun:
SEED, a random 1d100 roll, that will be used to contest traits with the other parent. For extra fun, don't tell the player their SEED score until it's time to start having kids.
>What do the stats do?
Mostly act as limiters and bonuses, if you're familiar with WFRP 2e it's like Toughness and Strength Bonuses. If not, suffice to say the 10s column of a stat becomes a number added to\subtracted from certain rolls regarding the player (so a bonus of 5 for 52) but the full number is used when the stat is rolled against.
There's not gonna be lots of leveling up characters so how are we gonna do skills? Here's my thinking.
>Bonus as Limiters
I'm thinking right now you can have Talent Many skills and Resolve Many skill points, while Physique will get broken down a bit more for stuff like being beautiful or strong or agile (to make it a little harder to make a CK2-tier Ubermensch). Could change my mind tho, gotta come up with some skills 1st.

So I'm going to be starting a sci fi campaign in a homebrew system that's heavily inspired by Firefly and Cowboy Bebop, so it's set in space but there's not really aliens and shit like that. I'm going to be using an "adventure of the week" sort of format, where the party are members of a mercenary group and get to go on space adventures and whatnot, each one lasting like 1-5 sessions. The problem is that I'm more used to fantasy games, and don't have much experience with running sci fi. Apart from filing off the serial numbers on episodes of the shows I mentioned, what are some interesting plot hooks I could use for the party's adventures? Anyone run a similar game in the past? Any help you guys can give would be really appreciated.
You can pull off some Space Opera stuff.
Make Nobles a thing, just remind your players how insanely wealthy they are, and have them spar over some corner of the galaxy your PCs fight in.
Then, chuck some ULTRA wealthy guy who bought out all the PCs competitors.
PS, why no aliumz?
>>50893062
That's a good idea, I'll probably do that. Thanks Also I'm going for more of a future civilization feel for the setting, where Earth went to shit and everyone migrated to outer space out of necessity. It's more of a space Western than full blown Star Wars, if that makes sense.I'm planning on hinting that there are actually aliens out there based on some weird shit the party will see in deep space, but nothing will really come of it.
>>50893150
An encounter I just stole from Star Trek might work.
After a mission, the players stumble on an old Cryo-Ship.
That's it.
Just tell the players they found it.
Keep looking at the players expectantly.
Another encounter you can do is the haunted space station of horrors they find in the middle of an asteroid field near the sun.
Looking for any beautiful looking female human spellcaster that is actively casting something.
Will post some swords maiden that I have.

who else is dreading the new meta, you know, the thousand sons now that they can take a fucking demon primarch and all have bolters that are S5 AP 3?
their terminators are as expensive as death wing for fuck sake but have astronomically better weapons.
to top this entire shit sandwich off your average thousand sons player will field anywhere fromm 4 to 6 psykers
If it happens it happens. I mean i have my army, most of the guys i know have theirs, and no one in my local meta plays Chaos. Furthermore i don't think anyone is the kind of guy who will drop tons of cash to play it just cause it's the latest power creep. I don't really care about tourney, and even if i did i have my own broken bullshit as well, so it all works out.
>>50891677
Meta has almost always been shit, it's the fluff that they're raping now. I'm sure once that's been run into the ground they'll find a new aspect to ruin.
>>50891677
I just want the Sons to be good for once in 40k.
So I'd like to play a barbarian. I'm looking for interesting character hooks. Bonus points for interesting takes on Raging, and for leading to a life at sea (might use it for a pirate campaign).
Pic unrelated, it's the closest thing I had to a barbarian
>Pic unrelated, it's the closest thing I had to a barbarian
It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.
>>50892021
This is so, so close to "tee hee don't hit on me silly LARPERS"
>>50891594
Maybe like...your character is looking for the biggest "prey" to make a name for him/herself and MAYBE no one goes hunting in the sea since it's too dangerous. Or no one comes back with anything. Like a kraken or some junk like that.
So your character is like "adventure ho!"
Or maybe there are tales of berserker style sea creatures of some sort and again, no one really goes out to sea looking for these things. So NATURALLY your character wants to go looking for these things.
Maybe when you get drunk you rage, and these pirates have THE BEST BOOZE EVER so you hang out with them to stay "max rage".
Sorry bro, barbarians aren't the first or even fifth thing I think of when I think of the open sea.
