Looking for superhero character art, preferably of the male variety but I'll take it all.
Gonna run Lost Mines of Phandelver for a newbie group tomorrow. I've never GMed before.
Any advice?
>>50940669
Don't run 5e.
Read the adventure, then read it again, then read it one more time.
Got it?
Now realize your PCS are going to do absolutely nothing the way you or the author expects them too so get ready to improvise all of it.
>>50941009
Explain, you cuntnugget.
Do you hate fun.
Thread starter question: What do you think can be found in the ground and sky of the planes? If you keep spelunking into Mount Celestia's caverns, digging into the soil of Baator, or flying into the sunny or starry sky Elysium or the Outlands, what might you find?
Discuss Planescape and the Great Wheel here, whether the original AD&D 2e version, the 3.X version, the 4e version (traces of the Great Wheel exist in 4e, down to the baernaloths, the yugoloths, the Heart of Darkness, Maeldur et Kavurik, Tenebrous, Pelion, and the Last Word all being canon as of Dragon #417), the 5e version, or your own original blend.
I am exceedingly well-lanned on planar canon under a holistic blend of 2e, 3.X, and sporadically even 4e lore. If you have any questions at all about the setting's lore, feel free to ask, and I will give you direct quotes and citations from as many primary sources as I can, unlike afroakuma. I will note when something is open to GM interpretation, and explicitly note whenever I give merely my own personal interpretation.
If you would like to ask anything under the context of a single edition and nothing more, please mention such.

I am relatively well versed in 2.x official Planescape fluff, but now transitioning to 5e for the ruleset and also because I'm quite happy with the "new" cosmology.
My only question is about how they now represent the positive and negative energy planes as being separated from the elemental planes, i suppose to have them feed into the outer good and bad planes. I dont like that because first they do not yet explain how the pos/neg planes fit or are connected to the rest; and second because I dont like positive and negative energies to be associated with good and bad, to me they are unrelated. My current gm fiat decision is to bring the pos/neg planes back to the inner planes topography. Same goes for Feywild and Shadowfel, I like to keep them unrelated to neg/pos energy planes.
As for flying through the infinite skies: i like to imagine it like in video games where you think you are advancing but in reality you're not moving: "fog of war" hides the island you are swimming away from so it seems you are constantly swimminh forward but if you turn around and swim back it would take 2 min for the island to come back into view.
This doesnt really work with digging though, so for this case I just imagine inifinite ground (not leading to "lower layers" planes unless the character really wills it hard enough)
In any case it is for me kinda like the Outlands, in theory infinite but you can travel from gate town to gate town. I just arbitrarily assume that people in the outlands can get lost forever if they dont know where to go or do not will to reach any plane in particular; whereas if someone WILLS to reach a particular place, they will eventually reach it no matter where they chose to go in the Outlands
>>50940628
To be perfectly fair, the Negative and Positive (Energy) Planes have very sparse detail in 2e, 3.X, and 5e. There is little canonical lore on them, and few locations, organizations, and native creatures.
The most lore that the Positive ever received was in 3.0's Bastion of Broken Souls adventure. That book introduced the "soul fonts" of the Positive that spawned the multiverse's preincarnate souls. Crystalline forests where souls grow as flowers and fruits, bizarre "spiritovores" that tend to the forests' ecosystem by pruning and nourishing souls, and a power-hungry red dragon with a literal balor for its heart; it is all wonderfully fantastical and surreal. (Can you imagine what seasons are like in these forests?) I like how Ashardalon left a legacy as a vestige and as a prestige class, solidifying just how memorable the Positive was during this adventure.
The Negative, in contrast, never received any big push from any writer. I suppose Atropus from 3.5 Elder Evils could count in an oblique way, and voidstone and the Sargasso of Entropy from pages 185-186 of the 3.5 Planar Handbook are interesting enough. The Deathheart of the Void from page 67 of the 2e Inner Planes book and page 82 of the 3.0 Manual of the Planes does not quite capture my imagination.
In my opinion, if there are a Positive and a Negative, there should not *also* be a Feywild and a Shadowfell. There is too much conceptual overlap between them as "place of vibrance, radiance, and life that is not necessarily benevolent" and "place of entropy, shadow, and death."
>>50940848
Ah yea I see what you mean by Feywild/Plane of Shadows being redundant with positive/negative.
From what I understand, you can see the Inner Planes as a source that feeds outwards (Prime is made of elements like rocks for mountains; even outer planes still rely on matter); and the Prime feeds the outer planes with their ideas and religions (their belief empowers the gods and their souls unite with their "favorite" plane)
So basically it seems to imply that shadowfell is an "echo" of the prime material that is fed almost exclusively Negative energy, and Feywild mostly Positive energy. That way I can see them kind of like a "border" plane in the same fashion as the Border Ethereal separates the Prime Material from the Elemental/quasielemental planes. Feywild and Shadowfell could be interpreted as border transitive planes for neg and pos.
But in any case, I dont think I'll ever go to such depth with players in-game (its a nice out of game discussion though)
I have this idea that there are two dominant models for the inhabitants of the multiverse, the "new" 5e cosmology with the prime at the center of the multiverse; and the "old" rule of 3 and rule of rings model that is favored by planars. The whole point of factions in Sigil is that obviously, nobody had the definitive answer and full knowledge of the planes.
The only details I need to arbitrarily set though, are a clearer definition of Feywild and Shadowfell, and of the pos/neg planes, and how to travel from and to them.
I'm very scattered in my post and probably hard to follow, sorry
Have you ever played a character who was a smug, spoiled brat?
Were the other players annoyed by this?
Was it fun?
>>50938907
Stainless.
He was a blatant iron man rip off who inherited his fortune 500 company and was pretty much being a super hero just for the shits n giggles of it.
The group actually didn't mind despite me doing my best to act like an entitled ass in game. I think it might have been because I was always willing to throw money at a problem whenever needed.
>>50939000
>was it fun?
Actually yes. He wasn't my favorite super hero but he was pretty entertaining. I remember a incident where I was golfing with the prime minister of China when we got attacked by mind controlled swans.
Shit was hilarious
>>50939000
how smug was he?
Recently, I bought Valkyria Chronicles Remastered and was reminded how much I love the game and its world's charm along with the gameplay, making me want to play a tabletop game with friends based on it. I already have a few friends who are also fans of the game and of tabletop interested in it, so I'm good on the group-front for now. What I need is a system for our group to run it with. I've seen a conversion of Only War floating around in the past, but from what I've seen, it only has chapter 1 and most of 2 done (with no advances and example potentials included) with no equipment or anything to go along with it. Can anyone point me in the right direction either for a more updated version of that conversion or another tabletop system that would run a Valkyria Chronicles-style game well?

Tell everyone about some amazing deals you have gotten in the past.
I recently just got into wargaming and bought my first set! I was talking to the shop owner at my FLGS and he offered this at an amazing price ($125), made out of genuine finecast (the best material according to him)! I am so excited to open this badboy and get to assembling!

My guess is Troll.
>>50932388
Huh? No, I'm serious (the dollar amount was in Canadian btw)
>>50932388

help me tg! I'm spontaneously running a dungeon crawl for my friends, we're going through this abomination of a dungeon, help me come up with encounters and shit! give me ideas for what to throw at my guys, anything goes! lore, small stories, sad endings ,dead corpses, anything you can spawn out of your brains!

So, someone on /tg/ told me a story once about a possessed Sister of Battle. The story was that the sister was about to getrapedby a bunch of cultists or something, so she let a daemon of Khorn posses her so she could tear them all limb from limb. The daemon and her work together now. Does anyone have that story? I want to read it.
>>50931944
That sounds like a shit story.
>>50932531
It does, if only for the reason that purity and faith inthe emprah is what caracterizes the sisters.
It's like having marines getting scared in half their stories despite the They Shall Know No Fear thing, just to show how badass the monsters are. It quickly loses its appeal.
We got a crossbred of religious zealots and nazis, and the only flaw authors use is corruption. That's a damn shame.
And sorry OP, it does ring a bell but I can't put a name on it.
>>50932531
agreed.
Daemons don't just "possess" people randomly. You have to invite them in, usually with a lot of ritual and bullshit. They don't just show up to rescue you in your moment of weakness.
Also "lolsisterrape!" is a trash meme.
