Planning to develop an early system for the All Hands Lost system described in the previous thread. Will be posting updates when applicable and i encourage constructive criticism (if something a shit, tell me why it a shit and how you would make it not a shit.)
Thoughts on the new Discovery series? Besides the fairly universal agreement that the ship looks like ass, what do people think about Bryan Singer bailing and it seeming to be leaning towards a Klingon-Federation cooperation storyline?

Can't say I expect much, but then I don't like much modern tv with the emphasis on season-long arcs filled with massive amounts of padding and soap-opera style drama. And I don't really expect much different from this.
If it's good I'll be pleasantly surprised, if it's not I'll consign it to the junkyard of shit I don't care enough about to get angry at.

I don't get the council, it's like the idea that they aren't the ultimate authority in the galaxy activly offends them so much that they just hee-haw any evidence until it goes away, so fearful of the idea that they are pawns they play the role even more.
When they say Isaac has dementia, do they really mean Schizophrenia?
Also, why don't they just invest more in colonialism instead of space whaling?
>>50872641
They're just too lazy to handle anything really important. They imagine themselves to be more figureheads than actual leaders.
Alright, guys. I'm setting up a campaign for Delta Green inspired by the obvious True Detective S1, as well as Sicario. I'm still working on the first arc that will be taking place stateside looking for a freelance journalist and author of occult historical fiction. The players will get inside his apartment after crossing a state police cordon.
I've already figured that the guy they're after has a bunch of unfinished manuscripts for short stories, novels and the like both on paper and in his computer. He came back from a trip to Mexico a month back before recently disappearing. He was investigating the Mexican folk magic down there and came back to the States mentally scarred by some of the things he witnessed.
That's the background information for the situation the players are getting into. My question is what other stuff might they find?
While we're at it, why don't we have a discussion about what spooky things could happen or be found in a DG campaign.
>>50940668
I love the idea in Lover in Ice, in that there's dangerous stuff in Green boxes all around and sometimes they get out. I doubt that'll fit in into your campaign though, but maybe take the idea about the origins in Lover in Ice.
There's something spooky going on in Mexico that the natives all know about and deal with like it's normal business. Then a guy from the states wanders in, sees the spooky stuff going on and freaks out. He then freaks out further when everybody around seems not only know about the spooky business but seems to know how to deal with it (preferably by killing possible infected people in by the dozen etc).

Thanks, dudes. I do have a couple Shotgun Scenarios dealing with the US-Mexico border and whatnot bookmarked.
And yea, the whole idea is that the people in Mexico apparently do believe in the folk magic thing, enough to where there are people who make money by performing rituals to Santo de Muerte or Satan. In VICE's documentary, it's said that some of these backwoods sorcerors have even worked with politicians.
I am fairly new to the whole Delta Green/CoC system, so my campaign that I had in mind might be a bit ambitious for my skill level.
If it helps anybody else brainstorming, the players are all recruited from the Federal "alphabet soup" agencies as well as units from within JSOC to help a shady spook named Steve Foster in his mission. They were all picked because they all took part in missions/cases where they had come into contact with the unknown, but not in such close contact that they lose their minds. Cognitive dissonance worked wonders for them.
Let's talk about the game, the tabletop game. We all love to bitch about 40k, and GW, but what does 40k do right?
>>50940323
Well, it earns GW Investors a Quarterly profit dividend. Does that count?
>>50940323
Mostly create interesting bits and pieces that /tg/ autisms over until something new comes out of it that's actually kind of cool. Also models, I guess.
>>50940323
>What does 40k do right?
Well, it looks interesting, and draws people into the idea of tabletop gaming, but is so expensive it drives those people to other games, like X-Wing, which is better.
Arcane, Divine, and Nature which is truly the best magic option?
>>50939496
Fist
Arcane.
Why work with what your given or seek help when you could just pants reality yourself?
Muscle
55 new spoilers, what does /tg/ think?
Any ideas for a brew so far? Too early to predict the meta in any capacity?
Also general Standard discussion
Bolas looks playable in the right shell -that recursion.
>>50939506
are you talking with pic related i assume?
>>50939605
Yeah you can just use his minus ability for whatever value needed until you lock the game and start plus till ultimate. Once you hit turn 5 you're set (subject to counter magic of course)
I've always thought that the Naruto world seemed perfectly suited for a roleplaying game; the characters are unique and have special powers, they're organized into teams and go on ranked missions, and they grow stronger and progress during the series
So, having been unable to find a game that I felt captured the style of the show and the epic powers of the characters, I created one by cobbling together bits and pieces of other games and a few of my own ideas (borrowing heavily from the classic Marvel RPG)
Please take a look at what I have, and feel free to offer any criticisms, suggestions, or overall feedback - playtesting or character creation would be greatly appreciated, and could help me determine if the system is functional and balanced
Some parts of the jutsu details remain unfinished, but otherwise this version is largely complete

Hello /tg/, I'm here to request a char art dump, but I already have a bunch to dump all by myself! So I'll get us started with a big chunk.
I'm running a campaign similar to the PS1 game SaGa Frontier (a solar system of california-sized landmasses that have diff cultures/time periods on them).
There's an organization one of my 3 players has made up for themselves that they represent. Everyone in that organization has a very lax uniform where they all wear wide-brimmed hats, whether it looks like cowboy hats, wizard hats, or vampire hunter hats. So I'm dumping loads of chars with wide hats! Please dump any you have so I can staff the hell out of this setting.
Due to the setting allowing almost ANY time period, fantasy, medieval, realistic, steampunk, even some cyberpunk is totally okay! GO NUTS!!!

>I'm running a campaign similar to the PS1 game SaGa Frontier (a solar system of california-sized landmasses that have diff cultures/time periods on them).
You have fucking taste.
Loved that goddamn game, even if it's backstory and the reason for much of the world was somewhat difficult to grasp.
>>50939228
Sorry in advance if this subject was already done. What would happen if doomguy and the angry marines met?
>>50938910
Khorne's willy would flinch, just barely enough to get noticed.
>>50938910
They'd tell at him as to why he wasn't in regulation power armor.
Seriously the DooM guy fights like a space marine on crack.

*yell
Wtf autocorrect?
What makes a vidya adaptation of a TTRPG successful, /tg/?
poor Clarence

Been trying to figure this out for myself for a while.
I loved the hell out of Baldur's Gate, the old Fallouts, Planescape and their ilk. They worked very well for building atmosphere and some fun and challenge in developing your character.
I enjoyed the original Neverwinter Nights to some degree too, but kind of in spite of the system. The moddability probably helped - I got so engrossed in creating my own worlds and games that I forgot about the flaws in the campaign.
Lately though, both DnD based ones and others like Pillars of Eternity and Divinity: Subtitles Galore don't quite do it for me. There's still good story and fun in them, but I think they actually have too many options.
Baldur's Gate's computerized AD&D had a decent level of depth and complexity (at least for me) while still remaining almost completely transparent. If I switched out a piece of equipment I could know exactly how that affected my character. Technically I can see what that does in PoE or the Witcher too, but ... the simulation is so complex that it barely matters. Sorry, I strayed from the TTRPG->CRPG topic a bit there, but it's still in the tradition of TT-style games, I think.
Granted, Baldur's Gate was one of my core formative experiences, so I'm extremely biased. Feel free to tell me to get my head out of Imoen's ass, not that I'm gonna.

>Baldur's Gate's computerized AD&D had a decent level of depth and complexity (at least for me) while still remaining almost completely transparent. If I switched out a piece of equipment I could know exactly how that affected my character.
Expanding a little on this point: this might have been how BG felt very close to the table for me. In a TTRPG you will know the mechanics of your character in the system intimately. That's a core feature of most systems, not counting GM fiat.
In later games the more complex and hidden game mechanics keep me distant from the crunch of my character - breaking mechanical immersion, sort of. The thought hadn't hit me before, but that's probably just as important to me as character immersion.
Top 10 Walkers of all time, in terms of power level?
My list would be:
10. Elspeth Sun's Champion
9. Gideon Ally of Zendikar
8. Jace Vryns Prodigy
7. Dack Fayden
6. Nahiri the Harbinger
5. Ugin the Spirit Dragon
4. Karn Liberated
3. Liliana of the Veil
2. Jace, the Mind Sculptor
1. Dovin Baan
Great thread OP.

I agree with your list 100%. Good job. No changes.

So, quick question for any DMs here. Has anybody ever made demons a race in their own right instead of just afterlife-dwelling jerks? Made them playable? Is there a way to do it that doesn't make them into Plot Buttons(TM)s?
Pic from a drawthread?
>>50937601
I'm also interested in this. My player recently made a bunch of allies with demons. I need a demon concept that's not "evil corrupters"
>>50937601
>>50937601
>>50937601
In my home setting, demons aren't playable, but they're not evil. They inhabit shrines out in the wilderness and have the power of Creation within it, and can give blessings, determine people's innate abilities, and go to heaven or hell as they wish to relax.
Setting creation, are there any good tools for creating a setting?
>>50937087
Imagination is a good one.

/tg/
I think you're looking for worldbuilding general, my man
>>>/50893503/
Alright /tg/ I need your help. Family coming over for the holidays, and I need your help coming up with a rules light system I can use for a little oneshot to entertain the chilluns.
Probably not going to get more than one shot, so I don't need any progression rules, or anything like that. Preferably pretty simple so I don't bore them with piles of rules at the start.
I've got some mini's so they have something to hold onto and look at, but I don't know anything I can use for rules. Help me /tg/. You're my only hope.
Maid RPG.
Unironically.
>>50936932
As hilarious as that may be, none of them watch even trash anime. Might be hard to get in the mindset. And when I say rules light, I think even Maid may be a little much. I was thinking maybe one of those one page RPGs? Or something else that's light?
Regardless, thank you chiming in.
>>50936915
Everyone is John would be neat
How far forward in time can a precognitive power see before it gets tedious and annoying for the GM?
>>50935835
Tell them what they see in the next five seconds and then start counting down from 5. If they don't declare an action by then, the event happens.
>1 combat round.
Or
>Ignoring surprise attacks
>>50935835
literally 1 combat round
