>hey, instead of making a really pimp contemptor, how about we make a large custode
>yeah, how else will people know it's different from the regular contemptor
>like give it hands so it can hold its weapons like a little brother custodes, instead of making far more stable and controllable weapon mountings
>and the exhaust, it must be exactly like on the custodes, because fuck having the same looking exhaust and power plant as those pleb Marines
>and replace the shoulders, because of reasons

I'll just use an EC or Relic contemptor instead. They're pimp enough with aquilas.

Why are his feet bigger than his shoulders

I'm not sure whether this belongs in /tg/, but I've broken on of my horns. It caught a blade and was cut parallel to the skull, a few centimeters away from it.
For the moment, I have been given first aid and have fixed both pieces of the horn together in a temporary cast.

I really can't live with being a shatter-horn, so I need help in healing my horn. Magic won't help, as magi either don't care about such "trivial" matters or ask for absurd amounts of money.

My brother also had a broken horn once, which healed. He was raped so that his hair wouldn't get caught in the cast they put him, but his horn was broken under the skin.

As I'd much rather be shaved once than having a broken horn for life, how can I go around healing my horn?

What tropes are in your current campaign? What tropes would you love to see in your next campaign?

I nearly made a half orc wizard in my first D&D game. Was planning to have them carry a bookshelf around and reference it all the time.

What is your preferred length of a session, /tg/? Do you prefer to only play for one or two hours, or do you like all-nighters?
What's the longest you've played a single session for?

Personally my preferred session time is around 6 hours. Enough time to get some plot in, but not so long that everyone grows sick of the session.
Longest single session was 14 hours. It was fun, but I would hate to have to do that again unless I was really into the game.

>>
4 hours minimum, 8 hours maximum.
>>
>>51303308
I prefer 4 to 8. My group spends usually the first hour socializing, making plans to hang out outside of sessions, and having a drink though. We've had sessions run long, if we're rapping up a campaign or if we're in the middle of something.
>>
My game runs for 3 hours. Kind of wish it was a little longer, ad our dungeon runs often seem like they get cut short, but that's life when everyone's got university and full time jobs.

DnD hasn't really ever taken itself exceptionally seriously, but it's even less so the further back you go.

Either that or they're just going for those Spanish priest robes. I really have no idea on the specific context

Close the Airlock is a decent Mongoose 1e based podcast. A little high on the Star Trek/Star Wars jokes and references for my Traveller nerd tastes.

Also, if you're not listening to Felbrigg Herriott's excellent Behind the Claw podcast, you might want to check it out. It's focused mainly on Classic, though much of it can be used in any edition.

GMing a Mutants and Masterminds 3e game.

My players absolutely hate the system's combat no matter what I do. I try to keep combats as brief as possible (no more than an hour and a half).

I really, really fucked up latest session by having the stealthy enemy out in the open and my secondary objective of destroying a magic reinforced stone building's toughness a bit too high, but my players think that the whole aspect of toughness rolls in this system is garbage. One of my players had threatened to leave beforehand, and now they're leaving for certain now.

I get critiqued on a constant basis by on of the experienced Gm players on a constant basis for using this system, and the other players agree. But I find that my players treating this like we're playing F.A.T.A.L. or some other terrible tier RPG is getting on my fucking nerves.

On the other hand, this is a group that actually likes to RP a lot, and I appreciate it and wouldn't want to throw it all away. Is there any way I can convince them that this system isn't as nearly as bad as they say it is, or should I just give up?

Just jump to a different system if only you like this one. You can pretty easily keep the same characters and there's a million superhero games.

Sup /tg/

Been a fan of 40k for a while and I'm just starting to get into playing. Had my first game with some friends today as imperial guard. I was wondering about what a decent army to start with would be? I've been looking at tyranids and recently Inquisition but I haven't had a chance to check their respective books. I want to come to a decision too since the books and models are a bit pricey and I don't want to get something I won't have fun with.
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
First things first, go to the 40k general. They have all of the codices available for download there so you can pick and choose your army.

Secondly, do you play other strategy games? (ie Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Total War) What's your strategy in those? Hordes of nameless weaklings? Late-game heavy armored badasses? Tanks? Light Cavalry? And so forth.

Lastly, what sort of experience or constraints do you have with tabletop games? Do you paint models? What sort of budget do you want to divert into the hobby?
>>
>>51301782
Just pick whichever army you like the looks and playstyle of the most.
>>
Also: are you really motivated by the style of Inquisition and Tyranids? Or are there other armies you're invested in? There's not much use of building an army you don't like to play with.

Ive been a GM over a year now and Ive realized i never include any sort of skill based challenges, or challenges aside from combat stealth and coercion.

Is there a helpful PDF or any advice you can give for doing more skill based challenges? or non murder encounters?

It depends on the type of campaign and the setting. I've had my players climb down snowy mountain slopes, brew potions, sail a boat through treacherous waters, investigate a crime scene, and help townsfolk craft and erect defences before a battle. Think about problems they might come across, and think how the skills your system uses might come into play.
>>
Have the studious characters investigate a tomb while the others run around to deactivate the traps going off everywhere.

I sent my players' SR team to Nairobi once to tamper with a shipment going up the Kilimanjaro mass driver to Zurich-Orbital. Love what Corporate Enclaves did with the place, and I'm usually not too impressed with the canon sprawls. I could totally see setting a full campaign there.

The problem is "Africa" as a term is pretty meaningless because despite centuries of European meddling and cultural pressures, Africa has stalwartly resisted coming together into anything resembling a collection of autonomous nation states. It's still a country of warring tribes and city state empires, dressed up in the rainments of eurocentric patterned countries.

So I had an idea for something that could make for a decent story/setting.
So there's a dragon, and it does the dragony thing, and acquires a bunch of totally-not-taken-from-people-gold, and spends his days guarding his horde. Until one day, several millenia later, a man approaches the dragons lair, drops off some gold, and asks the dragon a question. The dragon, mostly out of boredom and seeing no reason to kill the man who brought it gold, uses his massive amount of knowledge to answer the man's question to the best of his ability. One thing leads to another, and now there's a tradition where bringing gold to the dragon in exchange for wisdom and philosophical insight.
Do you think that this would be a reasonable thing for a dragon to do?
I think that the lure of a continuous source of gold and entertainment would give the dragon enough reason to go along with it, and I think that the idea of getting advice from a several thousand year old being would be a good enough reason for the people.
Your thoughts?

As long as there are bandits waiting to ambush for foolish people with gold on their way to see the dragon, making the trip dangerous, and the dragon will only offer his insight for the right price and death if it isn't, sure.
>>
>>51300380
eh

okay, but where's the catch? Where's the adventure hook?
Is it just an excuse to have the villagers try to stop the murderhobos from murdering the dragon?
>>
>>51300380

I could see that. I could also see a people feeling disappointed when the advice they get is like "Ah, it is simple. You should eat your mother-in-law and burn her pitiful human village to the ground."
