Almost every dungeon.
Most are not very complicated, but when the dice falls on "special" I don't have anything better to put in a room anyway.

Recently I had a magic wall being projected out of a holy symbol. on the wall behind it said "only the faithful may enter".
The solution is to simply bear a holy symbol of the correct religion. Or blow up the mundane walls on the side. My players have access to gunpowder, so either solution is likely.

Dragonborn DM here, a new session has passed and I'm happy to announce that it went well! In it the PCs came upon the slave traders that held hostage the young daughter of a town's Mayor/Chief/Whatever, with the promise that in exchange they could get back an object of power that had been given to them long ago as a symbol of alliance with the PC's hometown.

As it turns out the object of power wasn't there, it had been stolen by some expert thieves about a year back, but with the information they retrieved from the bandit's camp they can hopefully get a read on where it might have gone so they can track the path the thieves took when they stole it and sold it.

this is on another thread but i stole it

I know I'm late to the party, but what did /tg/ think of Pillars of Eternity?
I'm a huge fan of BG and IWD, just finished the BG trilogy for the 5th time so I figured I'd give something new a try. The improved graphics are nice, the story isn't bad so far (only halfway through the game), but it just seems like something is missing. I don't have near as much of a connection as I do the Black Isle games, but I may just have my nostalgia glasses on.

Currently playing a Cipher and getting my shit pushed in in the Endless Paths beneath the stronghold, even with a party of 5. Did I goof?
I like the way they did the Bard (I mean Chanter) song in this game, how you can select different verses for different effects.
Kana is my favorite NPC so far, big goofy sharkboi.

It's average, just okay. The entire stronghold is incredibly poorly implemented. (Six loading screens just to get a tiny stat boost when I rest? Fuck that.) Gameplay is just Icewind Dale, story is eh. The two best characters were Avellone's even after they removed him from the project and pissed all over his work, which speaks to how bad every other character was by comparison.

Ultimately, GURPS boils down to "roll 3d6 and try not to exceed your effective skill."

It's more of a toolkit than a system - everything can be considered optional or up for change.

If learning a new RPG seems daunting, maybe start with GURPS Lite and gradually add stuff from the Basic Set (or other sources) that you think fits your campaign.

Also, there's a GURPS general thread. They likely have more advice.

Generously assuming this isn't a thinly veiled troll thread, you don't need any calculus to play GURPS. If you are GM, you don't need to know any math beyond basic percentiles and basic arithmetic. If you are a player, just basic arithmetic.

The "math" is really no more complex than you would find in D&D. The system isn't particularly complex either, there is just 'a lot' of it because it's designed in a toolkit-like reductionist sense, where you pick the bits you want to use for a given campaign and either ignore or gloss over the rest. In this way, it can actually be run very light and fast (even with a very narrative slant), or you can go full crunch with super gritty detailed simulation.

It's not for everyone or everything, no system really is. It's a system where you get out what you put into it. It's very good at about 95% of the settings and genres I've personally used it for, but it's not a "pick up and play" game (though it gets close for a couple specific genres, with Dungeon Fantasy, Monster Hunters and After the End; character templates are plentiful, campaign assumptions baked in from the start, etc.).

Anyway, not saying you should run a game that you don't want to run or don't find the fun in; that's for you and your group to decide. However, the reasons listed in the OP alone aren't really valid reasons to avoid it as a system.

If your point was that you just don't like GURPS and you are asking how to tell the group, the correct answer is to tell them that you don't like GURPS or are not confident in your ability to run it, and that you want to run something else.

As said rather angrily above, I am making an Angry Marine Codex (HOW FUCKING ORIGINAL ANON!) and wanted to open up to you, the fine denizens of /tg/, and ask you to share your favorite pieces of Angry Marine artwork (IT'S DRAWFAGGOTRY) and fiction (WRITEFAGGOTRY HOLY SHIT) so as to make the fluff as well as make the Codex sexy as hell.

If you have any pictures of the following I plead (ON YOUR FUCKING KNEES ANON) with you to share them here:
-Predator Angrinator
-Chapter Master Temperus Maximus
-Imperial Guard in AM colors
-Angry SM Scouts

Ideally it's all 2D artwork and not pictures of figures but if you do have Angry Marine figures made, go ahead and show them off.

Crunch rules are going to be based on the Codexs (es?) available on 1d4chan with some minor edits to help it fit with the actual rules of 40k if needed.

The '90s cyberpunk novel Fairyland had the main character running a machine that made designer drugs, but I can't think of much else.

The thing is is that 3D printing is good for rapid prototypes and single use machines, but is too expensive and slow for large batches of anything. So it fits well in "this guy made a single shot gun he can bring through security because it's plastic" for cyberpunk, but not a whole lot else. It's just not a super viable manufacturing technology
