Could a country where the priesthood holds a total monopoly on tertiary education and financial services stand a chance in the long term against a country where these things are mostly private?
>>51320807
In real life no, but I don't why not in an alternative world. Say, make it the priesthood of scientific method.
>>51320807
What do you mean by `stand a chance`?
>Cadians kick ass
>SoB kick ass
>IF kick ass
>Motherfucking LotD kick some serious ass
>BT kick ass
>Cadia logically falls, we all know it would not stand the 13th Crusade
>Cawl is cool as shit and actually cares about the wider Imperium
>Trazyn has a behaviour that is logical, more of a wild factor than a genuine help for the Imperium
>Creed kicks ass by the dozen
>Celestine kicks ass like there's no tomorrow for Cadia...wait.
>Trazyn pulls a HH force of UM, Salamanders from a bit later on, and a goddamn Custodes (well played GW, that was the giant in baroque armor) out of a tesseract
>Pylons are kinda working, with effects on both aides
>Cadia blows up because the destroyed Black Fortress rams it with its last pieces and not because of the Pylon network
>Eldar (ALL THE ELDAR RACES) are open to parlays with the Imperium, buckle up fuckos, a new Alliance is forming
>Creed survives and gets taken away by Trazyn after a glorious last stand
I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed that book. Even if I'm not a fan of advancing the timeline, I had plenty of fun reading that. Lookign forward to reading what's going on with the Eldars, as well as seeing the new Triumvirate models, notably the Vect one.

Age of Emperor now.
>>51320668
Hell no. Just a minute closer to midnight.
>>51320647
>Trazyn has a behaviour that is logical, more of a wild factor than a genuine help for the Imperium
-Trazyn got the null shield working which prevented Cadia from being outshotted by the Fortress
-He stopped the Chaos Baneblade saving the day
-He helped Cawl make the Pylons work
-He unleashed his collection that bought the Imperials the time they needed
-He convinced Greyfax that Chaos takes priority over her prejudices which caused her to save Celestine
-He "saved" Creeds life
Cadia wouldn't have lasted as long as it had without his shenanigans.

sure? It depends on the world, it depends on the tech level, it depends on the imperial governor in charge of them

depends on the planet but in general they do have tv (unless you are poor of course)
the ratio of propaganda to entertainment would vary depending on planet though.
Hey /tg/ I'm looking for good games that I could run as a oneshot, preferably free and something that could be taught under an hour.
My current ideas are
Lacuna
Everyone is John.
Paranoia
Godenders
Any other good choices

Free and rules light:
Havoc Brigade - play a band of orcs infiltrating a city, no character creation rules but you can easily tell how to make balanced characters if you take a look at the given ones
One last job - create characters by telling stories about each other, usually played as old professional criminals doing one last job, but it gives you many different setting ideas (cyberpunk, fantasy, western,..)
Lasers and Feelings and the like - bet you know that ultra-ultra rules light game
Atomic Highway - rules light post-apocalyptic game, mad max like, lots of cars, easy in terms of setting and newb frirndly d6 pools. Just replay fury road with your friends!
Shit you have to buy:
Army of darkness rpg: if you haven't seen the movie or another part of the evil dead series: it's about demonic possession, solved by chainsaws. Rules light, brutal and lots of already finished characters.

Love you, Rag.
Did you ever get that fireperson race you were after?
So my roommate made a ranger for our old session that, as the story unfolded, ended up being more of a lawyer-ey type than anything else and barely, if ever, used his spells.
That campaign is over now, but we're thinking of starting it up a sort of "season 2" and our DM has agreed to let us reboot our characters should we so desire, and I'm trying to think of ideas as to what we could make that would fit that sort of character, and no that one Cleric archetype is not on the table.
Who else ro/tg/ut here? What kind of drinks do bars, inns, and taverns in your setting serve? Are there signature spirits of various cultures/races? What are your coolest fantasy brews? Beers, wines, liquors, or cordials, post what you got.
I usually just go with the usual standard cliches. Dwarven ale is the strongest drinkable beer for a human being, goliath ale will literally kill you, elven wine is the single best thing you'll ever drink but it's relatively light in terms of getting you fucked up, and human beer is somewhere between dwarven ale and elven wine.
However, whenever I make a character I always decide right away what they drink (or if they abstain from drinking altogether). It really says a lot about someone. Does your character enjoy a fine wine, or do they like to get good and rowdy with a stout ale and throw a chair at someone in the bar just to start a fight? Or, do they steer away from "the devil's drink" and look down on those that enjoy it? It's a small detail for sure, but I feel a character's choice in booze (or lack thereof) really says a lot about who he or she is as a person.
I always was a fan of Bastion's system of making various kinds of alcohol unlockable passive buffs. Each came with both a gameplay effect and a lot of flavor regarding both the ingredients of the liquor and the taste of it. Implementing something similar in D&D could work, if the effects aren't quite as good as potions but also not as expensive. Makes taverns more than just a side-quest acquisition center too.
>>51318390
Respectable. You bring up a good point about characterization there too. If a character doesn't drink alcohol, what do they drink? Does the setting allow for easy access to fresh water, milk, or unfermented juices? Or is this a hard path to follow, risking infection from waterborne parasites and diseases?
>>51318303
Milk.
>The Human Mind: 600 miles of synaptic fiber, five and a half ounces of cranial fluid, 1500 grams of complex neural matter... a three-pound pile of dreams. But I'll tell you what it really is. It is the ultimate battlefield--and, the ultimate weapon. The wars of this modern age--The Psychic Age--are fought somewhere between these damp, curvaceous undulations. From this day forward, you are all psychic soldiers. Paranormal paratroopers! Mental marines who are about to ship out on the adventure of their lives! This (points to the brain diagram) is our beachhead! And this [points to his own head] is your landing craft. You shall engage the enemy in his own mentality--you shall chase his dreams, you shall fight his demons, you shall live his nightmares! And those of you who fight well, you will find yourselves on the path to becoming international secret agents-- in other words... Psychonauts!! The rest of you... will die!

Quick question, /tg/:
What the hell is Commander Hairgel and his trusty sidekick, Thaddeus, doing still crusading in the Warp?
I keep imagining this Saturday morning cartoon of the two just fucking around on various Warp planets and stealing a few Legion of the Damned relics in the process. hilarious antics ensure.
>>51317403
why do people think the neutral ending is canon? and OP he is not in the warp the "pure" ending is cannon not full pure
prob he is somewhere in the chapter doing stuff and things

Hairgel and Thaddeus crusading in the Warp is confirmed canon tho

What's the youngest age that you would allow for a PC in a modern-ish setting where other PCs are going to be adults of indeterminate age?
12.
>>51317058
Is it at all magical or have fantasy elements? Three
Is it supposed to be realistic? Fourteen probably.
>>51317058
Depends on the game.
What ever is setting and thematically appropriate.
A game where you are cops? 18
A game where you are surviving the zombie apocalypse? probably six or so.
Also the rules for the game need to have rules related to playing children mechanically.

It’s good to be back to a more normal form, I hardly even mind washing up on a beach with sand getting in places I would rather not mention… ok I did mind that but well it’s good to be back to normal.
Melody my sister from IS seems quite disturbed by my current appearance. It’s going to take a while to adjust I suppose. She seemed even less happy when I started using those canisters and gaining a green tint. I did warn her about certain things but I guess seeing it first hand is a bit more jarring.
So finding myself on a deserted shaper colony with a bunch of crafted creatures was not fun. I didn’t mind the ones that weren’t trying to kill me so much as I felt bad for them. Created just to be used. I tried to help them when I could. Also there were the creatures that were not so friendly… I felt bad but my companions and I put an end to them.
One of the groups of serviles, the takers tried to kidnap me on behalf of their master to try and use me to work his geneforge to give him god like powers. I met with the man and decided he was up to no good. I offered to give everyone human forms so they could go and live as they wish. The offer stunned him a little but not being an apparent fan of humans (or shapers) he stood firm to his demands.
(to be continued)
