D&D 5e vs Pathfinder

Well, 5e is everyone's Second choice, but Pathfinder is everyone's Last Choice. So... 5e, easily.
Normies and Casuals >>>>>>>> Weaboo Degenerates.
5e is more balanced and encourages Roleplay. It's also the one that can be more easily ran with theater of the mind.
Also nicer Generals.
There's really no comparison.
How do you handle racism in your setting, /tg/?
By letting it exist but not forcing it down everyone's throats all the time.
>>51302760
/thread
Racism should, just like in real life, be based on actual reality. Nobody is being discriminated against for no reason, it is literally because of association and normal profiling that everyone does.
For instance, imagine a setting with Beastmen. Beastmen warbands who go around and rape women, burn farms, and general be chaotic evil douchebags. Now imagine those Beastmen living in the same society as the humans who the wild beastmen would attack. Would the humans accept them without fault and never lock their doors around beastmen because they *could* be from the good group? No! Very naturally and realistically, they would defend themselves, deny beastmen easy access to their daughters and wives and tell them to fuck off because they don't trust them.
I want to make a good necromancer, but my DM says that all necromancy is evil because black magic. How can I Convince my DM that not all Necromancers are evil?
>>51301325
Simple
Explain the benefits of industrial necromancy to him
Suck his dick
Realize that "Necromancy" is a broad and complex school of magic in D&D that is not fixated on the creation of undead (the invariably evil act in D&D). In actuality, a Necromancer wizard is mostly fixated on disabling foes, inflicting devastating effects and leeching life and power away from their opponents.
However, if you want to be an undead crafter, too bad. Fundamentally you can be Neutral at best. Using Evil means to Good ends is Neutral. Deal with it.
Doing a setting with an ancient race of Medusas that use to have a balla as fuck civilization. Now there either nomads or slaves. If anyone got any good pics of male or female Medusas that'd be swell.
Make them vulnerable to each other's gaze.
>>51297662
the Medusa in my setting can't turn people into stone. Doesn't stop superstitious slavers from blinding medusas and selling the eyes as alchemical ingredients
FYI Medusa is an individual's name; Medusa was a Gorgon
>The princess has been kidnapped

If kidnappings are this common, why don't princesses learn to defend themselves?

Aaaaaaand I fucked the OP up a tiny bit. Forgive me, my brothers of /srg/.
To the anon from last thread who had this tanktroll in his group:
Look up the Ares Screech rifle from Run&Gun.
Does mental Damage that ignores ALL Armor and is resisted solemly with WIL.
Liberal use of Stick-n-Shock Salvos might also do the trick.
Also don't let him buy hits on the soak rolls.
I'm playing a Human with 30 Soak and constantly roll horrible when getting hit.
Ended the last Session with 9 filled Boxes.

Playing as Affinity I hated playing against Jeskai control. Electrolyze fucks my shit up.
>When's the last time you played in a competitive tournament?
Since before Eldrazi Winter.
>Do you prefer paper or online?
I'm starting to prefer MTGO actually. I hate paying real money for digital cards, but I'm really enjoying playing whenever I want. Really the only paper I've been playing lately have been cubes. At least on MTGO I don't have to store thousands of trash commons and uncommons I got from drafts.
>What one card do you wish was printed in a standard set to use in Modern?
As much as I hate playing against it probably Counterspell. When I started playing years ago it was everywhere, and I've just gotten used to playing around it. At 2 blue it should be able to slide through standard without too much trouble, if they wait to design a more aggro oriented meta.
>What's your least favorite matchup?
Mirror matches with Tron, the person that starts first usually has the upper hand and wins unless he/she keeps a retarded hand.
>When's the last time you played in a competitive tournament?
Less than a month ago.
>Do you prefer paper or online?
Paper, I play mostly to socialize.
>What one card do you wish was printed in a standard set to use in Modern?
None, I'd prefer wizards to simply reprint some hard to get cards so you don't get anuerysm trying to get them.
>>51290645
>What's your least favorite matchup?
Anything that can sideboard in Leyline of Sanctity because as of yet Neither Red or Black have enchantment answers in modern.
>When's the last time you played in a competitive tournament?
Probably a few months ago didnt do much won first two matchups and got curb stomped in the 3rd match and dropped
>Do you prefer paper or online?
Paper MTGO is unusable trash.
>What one card do you wish was printed in a standard set to use in Modern?
Even though I have no blue decks probably Good ol Counterspell, Hymn to Tourach, or price of progress.

hey /tg/
i like merfolk
lets post merfolk
also talk about merfolk
>>51274520
so ive been thinking about what type of clothes merfolk would wear, and how they would be made. i learned that the aztecs and mayas used natural rubber to make fabrics waterproof:
>The first use of rubber was by the indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica. The earliest archeological evidence of the use of natural latex from the Hevea tree comes the Olmec culture, in which rubber was first used for making balls for the Mesoamerican ballgame. Rubber was later used by the Maya and Aztec cultures - in addition to making balls Aztecs used rubber for other purposes such as making containers and to make textiles waterproof by impregnating them with the latex sap.[6][7]
>>51274552
they even could vulcanize it
>Although vulcanization is a nineteenth-century invention, the history of rubber cured by other means goes back to prehistoric times. The name "Olmec" means "rubber people" in the Aztec language. Ancient Mesoamericans, spanning from ancient Olmecs to Aztecs, extracted latex from Castilla elastica, a type of rubber tree in the area. The juice of a local vine, Ipomoea alba, was then mixed with this latex to create processed rubber as early as 1600 BC.[4] In the Western world, rubber remained a curiosity, although it was used to produce waterproofed products, such as Mackintosh rainwear.[5]
>>51274566
anyway, all you gotta do to vulcanize rubber is add sulfur to the liquid natural rubber. then it is completely immune to microbes and completely water proof.
easy to do
is it possible for lovecraftian horror to exist in a medieval fantasy setting? like having a xenomorph in a high fantasy setting and still get a sense of fear, rather than eye rolling camp.
any examples of this, or sci-fi mixing with fantasy, done well?
>>51265936
DnD uses the Lovecraft mythos out the ass.
There were stats for Cthulu in an AD&D book.
>>51265936
Cosmic horror just requires an "us" to identify with, ideally humans.
The problem is that Lovecraftian horror is fundamentally misanthropic and anti-anthropocentric, which only kind of works if we presume that the setting as viewed by the characters/players is anthropocentric. However fantasy often fully embraces the concept of "the other" and kind of normalises the idea that humanity is not the focus and pinnacle of existence.
>>51265973
But that's terrible.

Yeah you forgot the thread name. Better luck next time.
>>What's an important river in your setting, your world's Nile, Ganges or Tigris?
Great Sand River is the name of one very important river. 1000km inland there is the city of White Haven. Originally Dwarven built settlement that is now centerpiece and capital of Kalistian Empire.
>>51263032
I would make simple PDF file with bare minimum of info with using real world equivalents as example. For example.
>Kalistian Empire is not!Babylonians lead by Dwarven nobles amd kings. Their empire is large and mighty. They can be described as proud and content folk.
>Example characters:
>Dwarven Sworddwarven
>Dwarven Trader
>Human Skirmisher
>Human Pit Fighter
>Human Loresinger
When player is interested on something he could search more info on main file.

Death is a disease. Cure it.
>>51242082
So, let's begin with a real topic.
How do you utilize a disease or plague in EP, in typical disease disaster movie fashion. Terrorism? Science gone wrong? Aliens?
How do you build your plague movie plot?
>>51242134
I'm thinking for an actual plague, not Exsurgent craziness. I don't really buy a naturally spreading plague being able to move between Habs, as they're very far apart, and most travel doesn't bring a body along. Public health is also good enough that I'm not sure how easily a nasty disease could appear without external help.
I think I'd do something with a group spreading something nasty to catch, and very fast spreading. As an act of terror, inflicting horrible symptoms would be more important than piling up bodies. It's easier to put morphs in a healing vat than fix people's bad memories.
So probably something which spreads really quickly and attacks the nervous system and mucus membranes. The idea is to cause all kinds of nasty "phantom pains" by messing with nerves while causing as much bleeding as possible.
Spread it across habs in several permutations, and try to make it trigger medichine freakouts and autoimmune disorders, hopefully get some false reports made to slow down response for a cure. I'd probably have it be spread by neo-prims or a pro-synth group.
>>51242172
> as they're very far apart, and most travel doesn't bring a body along.
Also, you kind of mention this with the distance, but specifically most hab travel is very slow. On Mars or Venus or Luna you might try and get like, a planetary plague going - but at it's fastest travel between mars and earth's orbit is like, a week - much more likely in a standard ship going a day. Travel to the outer system takes many months - you'd immediately know a ship was a biohazard well before it got there unless you engineer some crazy high latency in it.
On the other hand, that could also be a movie plot, get a bunch of people (maybe bioconservatives) on a "luxury" cruise, drop the super-smallpox on them - consign them to die in the void of space. That would not kill a lot of people, but it would probably be pretty flashy. Get a lot of media coverage.
