Make 5e Great Again Edition
What needs to be changed in 5e to make the edition better?
>>51290320
Something to remove poison immunity
>>51290320
Options for players to downgrade immunities to resistances and to ignore resistances with certain damage types (i'm looking at you Fire and Poison).
>>51290320
Should adventurerers (the PCs) surrender/give up in a heroic game?
Anything should theoretically be a option. Remember, what Luke did to finally kill the Emperor involved him surrendering to Darth Vader.
That reeeally depends.
Can you wreck more of big bad's shit if you break out from prison?
Can you use surrendering to locate the big bad's place? (he's gonna bring the heroes to his best torture rooms and prisons, of course it's gonna be near his accursed lair)
>>51290305
If their character arcs have progressed towards despair, they should. Even PCs gotta have limits on how much shit they can put up with. Games without mechanics for emotional breakdowns are garbage.
Let's say, purely hypothetically, I'm some sort of evil demon lord, hoping to excert my influence on a not-too-unique fantasy setting.
I want to corrupt mortal beings into spreading evil and I have the power to do so by granting them dark powers.
What kind of spells should I grant those that forge a contract with me that they can reasonably justify to themselves as just a tool, to be used for good or evil, but which has a subtle corrupting effect?
Ideally the corrupting effect isn't a side effect that mind controls them but a natural consequence of the known effect of the spell. Like a spell that allows one to sacrifice a single human being to save many more, normalizing the use of human life as a means to an end.
Post your ideas for evil-aligned spells.

Scrying, Mind control and Mind reading.
Just start your personal Orwellian nightmare.
>>51290383
What if Mind Reading gave priority to the meanest and most unpleasant thoughts? To make the caster more misanthropic.
>>51290440
Of course, this is what you look for, after all. Got to weed out and reeducate all those wrongthink types.

Couldn't find them in the Megas, so here's Genestealer Cults and Imperial Agents PDFs:

IA codex is a little wonky and I'm working on fixing that.
Gonna play my first game of 7th edition 40k this weekend, I'm gonna make a 1,500 point list for Space Marines. What should I take? I don't want to completely cheese it.
>Where the light of Astronomican collides with a potent warp-storm, like the Eye of Terror or the Maelstrom, the mix of both creates a rim of space fucked up so hard even daemons are afraid of it. These burning walls of warp-fire are inhabited by warp-spirits that could be described as flaming angels; just like Chaos daemons, they don't mind slaughtering, raping, and eating chaos worshipers (who, if they are very lucky, will suffer this fate in that order). These "angels" are known to cleanse their territory of all life oldcron-style, no matter its allegiance, but unlike daemons, these spirits cannot be reasoned with, as they are as insane from millennia of intolerable pain and suffering, probably just like the source that gave them life.
Ran across this on 1d4chan. Never heard of it before. Where's it from?
Is this worth getting for 25 dollars?
>>51288464
For the ships, yeah - if you're into fantasy ships.
For the game, no.
>>51288464
Has any GW product flopped quite as spectacularly hard as this did?
>>51288464
Short answer. Yes.
You can have short, fun little games and it's rather rules light so it's easy to drag your non-tabletop friends into it as well.
Just don't go into it expecting much stratergy though. It lives and dies by the fall of the dice no matter how much you try and be tactical about it.
This is going to sound like a stupid question but what are some beginer friendly tabletop rpgs? My friend bought a DnD book and it's filled with so much content and no real earnest to go about playing without already knowing what to do. It's all gibberish and not enjoyable or easy to digest.
Like what about something with 5 stats and a basic choice of equipment that confer bonuses to choose from and a simple way to quest some shit up?
Rules light RPGs are a good place to start learning the ropes, although some editions of D&D are also better than others.
Powered by the Apocalypse games are the most famous for really streamlining the mechanics and getting you right into the roleplaying, but rules light games are in vogue at the moment so there's a huge amount to choose from and you can find PDFs of a hell of a lot of them floating around on /tg/.
If you really want a D&D type exeperience, I'd say 4e is probably the most beginner friendly. Of all the editions it has the best layouts and templating for ease of use, a generally streamlined set of mechanics and power cards neatly set all your options out in front of you, telling you exactly what you need to roll and what they can do.
>>51288194
Have you seen Harmon Quest? Like that seems so simple and the right style to go about things. Just give players choices and events and each character has equipment already they chose.
>>51288216
Looking it up they actually use Pathfinder, so it's likely that the simplicity is just the GM doing most of the work before the session or behind the screen, and/or just handwaving rules for the sake of swiftness and comedy.
That sort of competence does take a while to build, a lot of effort to look effortless and such.
Who will you call when things go bump i the night?
Who will protect you when shadows fill you with fright?
Who will return the lost sheep to the road of light?

- How many knives does regular investigator of the Congregation carry?
- Regular investigator of the Congregation always carries 2-3 knives.
- That makes him a zonder-trooper, not an investigator!
- Zonder-trooper has 3-4 knives with him, though.
- Well, that sounds like some knid of a maniac
- No, master Alfred Hower never has less then 5 knives.
- He is one strange man.
- Strange man would not carry any knives at all
- That would be a regular man
- A regular man carries 1 knife...

Gow may forgive you, but the Congregation won't. Not until after Autodafe, that is
Incredibly interesting little system, but the conflict resolution subsystem is very underwhelming. It doesn't mesh very well with the rest of the game, and is kind of a hassle to run.
Are there any optional ways of resolving conflicts out there?
>>51287641
I've been meaning to get into Toerchbearer a bit. What's it like? What sort are you looking for?
>>51288807
It's really fun. I really like almost everything about the game, but the conflict rules feel a bit weird. I don't know. Maybe after a few sessions it will click with us, but right now my players feel like the conflicts are way too abstract and narrative in all the wrong places, and I kind of agree.
They should've gone with a lighter version of Burning Wheel's Fight! rules, I like that, but not THIS much lighter.
>>51288866
Sounds good, I guess I'll grab a copy. Would porting Burning Wheel's Fight! rules be hard?
So we all know cards like Form of the Dragon, that just ooze flavor. But what about the ones with elegant mechanics? The ones you love playing not necessarily because they're good, but because they're so well designed?Damn I love Evolve
This one too

Wasn't Simic the coolest that set?

Totally, it's the set that solidified blue and green as my favorite color combo.
Time Spiral in general had some pretty great Melvin cards. Goyf included.
IT'S HABBENING!!
Also general necromunda thread. Stories, gangs, images, whatever. Muties get out. Ratskins okay i guess.
Hoping it launches with the original gangs at least.
Cawdor best.

What's the best instrument and why?
Just wanna make sure my character plays the best instrument.

Pipe organ.
>and why?
Have you ever seen and heard one? Well, you also can play anything with it, from church music to classical music to villainous themes to drone doom, and it's relatively hard to lose or steal a pipe organ.
>>51286675
Skin flute.
