Why are drow so little-known and rare?
Like, if you show some random person an orc, they probably know what an orc is. Show them a drow, and they'll wonder why there's an elf blacker than Wesley Snipes.
They don't even seem to show up in many settings anymore. What gives?

Because drow are assholes in pretty much every setting. Plus matriarchal societies aren't even believable in a fantasy world

Sup mtg players. Me and some friends bought a Return to Ravnica booster box and did a kitchen table draft. I pulled this guy in a pack, and I know he's not fantastic, but I want to play around with a carnival-themed deck for fun. I also have a few Rakdos Carnariums. Can you guys recommend any cards that would fit well with that theme?
I'm pretty casual and don't care too much about card prices. I have the most fun building decks and experimenting. So I'm not looking to trash the idea for 'something better'. Just asking for ideas.

Try looking at Rakdos cards from the Ravnica and Return to Ravnica block. The Rakdos faction is basically circus from hell themed.
Also, most goblins are funny violent green people, probably in line with your theme.

So guys what's the skinny? The game came out with little hype and was released today. the game was marketed as an xcom-ish flavor TBS using a square grid and point buys. GW is also marketing minis from the game (surprise and totally not a cash grab).

Right now retail is 30$us. Game dev is slitherine same as Armageddon and various tbs hex based tank games.

You can play as a Titan as well.

After deathwing, and although I have almost every 40k vidya, I'm a bit skeptical, many other fans probably feel the same.

Thanks /tg/uys!

>after deathwing
there is no connection between DW and SR though. Slitherine is a good developer and if it the game was 10 bucks cheaper I'd blindly buy it. For 30 I'll w8 a week or two for some reviews and then buy it (or not). From what I've seen so far it looks pretty good.
>>
>>51295735
I understand that, but if devs go for "lets sell them on the 40k IP, it doesn't matter if the game is shit they'll buy it" then I'd just buy/play a TBS game like <insert good game here>. But my love of the 40k lore, artwork, and fandom always pulls me back in.

And I have played the other slitherine games - both 40k Armageddons, and the overlooked Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion which plays similar to a square-based wargame. I think slitherine mainly lacks on the window dressing of their games - minimal voice acting, animations, and cut scenes - but they've obviously proved themselves as being able to make solid core game mechanics.

Shit, did I just shill myself...

>10 bucks cheaper
totally, right now its a price issue, and its not on GMG, but if you have humble monthly you can get 10% on humble store (and right now if you sub you get xcom2 free..)

oh shit I just did it again...

I'm inclined to agree.

Not that misdirection or "not-as-it-seems" can't be great for a bunch of sidequests.
But a really big PLOT TWIST in a major story arc? There should just be one.

I've been invited to a join a small D&D5 party. I wanna play a stingy healer for hire character. Someone who learned healing as a trade and will do it for a price. Not particularly loyal to any god, unless it's like a merchant god or something.

Any idea what class that would be? I'm having trouble figuring it out. Probably cleric but they seem pretty founded in religious magic. Maybe bard. I'd like him to have good charisma too for swindling schmucks.

Hey tg.
Talking to a dude on eBay, trying to figure out how many of these figures are Pathfinders, he doesn't know.

I ask if he has a better pic, he says that this is taken on a high rez camera (maybe just my phone sucking).

Not a fan of being told that the pic is better than it is though.

Hello /tg/.

My lowish-level players are about to encounter a dragon's cave, and I'm looking for fluff for the dragon's hoard besides the classic bed made of coins and magic swords.

So far I have: a bigass pile of coins of various denomination ; a bunch of regular equipment (offerings from a nearby kobold tribe ; the dragon is in the process of clearing the trash from his hoard) ; gems of different kinds ; some pieces of art (a carpet, a lewd elven statue etc.) ; a wand that obviously was used as a toothpick and an assortment of scrolls ; piles of random trash (other offerings from the kobold, includes bolts of cloth, half a catapult, several crates of garlic).

tl;dr: interesting items to put in a dragon's hoard.

>>51294330

how old is the dragon? Which kind of dragon is it?
A lot of stuff may change depending on those factors.
>>
>>51294330
>>51294425
The dragon is an adult red dragon, it has laid four eggs (which are nestled among the hoard).

The colour doesn't matter too much though, if there are interesting items which require a certain kind of dragon, I can easily make the change.
>>
>>51294330
I once had a dragon known as "the green man" he hoarded sentimental treasure. Specifically he would ambush and kill children that were travelling to the capital city to become squires or apprentices. He had a pile of swords and mason tools, the kind of things a family would gift to their child who was moving to the big city for work.

I'm doing some world-building for my own home brew campaign right now, and I've decided to do languages by nations/tribes instead of by race. For example, it's possible for a human and an elf to speak the same language if they reside within the same cultural borders of each other.

To sum up my setting, it's basically a fantasy version of 17th century Earth (late Renaissance era / age of "pike and shot"). Those familiar with the 7th Sea setting, I'm basically importing that setting wholesale into D&D. But I'm keeping the core D&D races.

Here's my question: What race would be most appropriate to each nation?

Here's what I came up with so far:

Dragonborn - Swedish/Dutch
Dwarf - Russian
Elf - French
Gnome - German (Holy Roman Empire)
Orc - Spanish
Halfling - Italian
Human - English/Common (Includes Scotland and Ireland)
Tiefling - Turkish (Tieflings in this setting are assumed to be mixed blood descendants of Djinn/Ifrit)
