Post cool cleric character concepts, and general cleric spell discussion/build discussion
Putting my question back up cause it was at the very end of the last thread.
Newish DM here how should I determine how much gold the party should get? Not really acquainted with the gear portion of the game yet really. Just a point to the right direction to find the info is fine.
Can someone give me a good idea for a monk? It's my favorite class but I lack creativity to come up with anything more then wise old man.
Anons? I don't know if this is relevant to this thread, but, I've got a bunch of races I've been trying to homebrew for 5e, and I could use some help on balancing out what I have written and picking which ones to write next. Any opinions?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XovWm65MSmIzQWSMDMXo0_aIpZgq9YSa2KkpO3kThS4/edit#
I could really use help with the Forgeborn Dwarf, for starters.
>fantasy setting clearly based on medieval Europe
>social norms regarding women's rights and age of consent are identical to those of the author's modern-day country
Yes, and?
Is there magic involved? Because I least then you're already suspending some of your belief. Maybe a godess went around and used her magic to make everyone libertarian?
>>51316704
It's the author fantasy, faggot.
He or she get to decide if humans are in or they are replaced by magical skirt-wearing were-bears too despite medieval Europe don't have magic, dwarves, elves and wizards of any kind.
Also, go back to your containment board.

Has anyone ever told you that tabletop games are bad?
no
any other questions?
>>51316497
Yes, my mom told me that I'm wasting away my youth on unhealthy escapism. She's right.
Whenever I think of some plot to overthrow a kingdom or otherwise secretly take over the land from behind the scenes, the church comes to mind first.
What are some variations I could pull on the evil church cliche, or even better, something else that's just as good if not better. Going with a second son or other noble plot to take over the crown doesn't feel as high-stakes or revolutionary since it's feels like a 'new-boss-same-as-the-old' kind of story, but maybe I'm wrong.
>>51315486
I'm guessing you want something other than
>God is evil
My first suggestion would be have it be a splinter group, the main core of the church would be appalled if they found out the shit that was going down and if the PCs just assume "Evil church" they'll just cause more problems then they solve
another idea, though it feels kinda cliche, that I've never seen done is to have the church be the good ones in this scenario/have a justified reason, like they're fighting against another conspiracy that's compromised the crown, king's actually evil, ect and despite their soft political power, the King could have them all arrested if they go against him
>>51315486
I've always liked the other church trope of a peaceful somewhat naive priest who becomes hardened by war.
as for variations on an evil church you aim for a more innocent form of evil? the head of the church gets tempted by money and starts doing unethical things, but then see's the error of their ways and tries to make things right. a good story of redemption is always nice, and its a good change of pace to see the church doing something that isn't entirely corrupt.

Posting my first ever CYOA, which comes to you in ten parts, because it's fucking huge. It probably has more than a few little errors and glitches I looked over, so feel free to point out issues you notice.

5e level 1 broken builds

Monk is arguably one of the best low level classes because you get more attack than any other class
A revised ranger with Polearm master for that sweet extra attack along with the free damage against humans feels nice
An undying light warlock who is a tiefling with wings could make your DM sudoko because you can just fly around sacred flaming everything to death and stay out of harms way
Mystic order of the mind can get occluded mind to trick spell casters into not being able to spell cast and so much more
High con undeath sorcerer can potentially be good tank maybe?
That's all
>>51315023
llizardfolk barbarians seem quite broken.
>Ac= 10 + high dex (+3) +high con (+4 due to lizardfolk getting a +2 racial bonus in con) + 3 AC from scales +2 from carrying a shield around = an ac of 22 at first level.
>>51315347
high con does nothing for ac.
Hello fellow fa/tg/uys
I would like ask you guys about methods to simulate a fantasy economy. Im homebrewing a system that will have a focus on trading companies and the sort, so i want to know what is a good way to represent an actual economy of interconnected towns/kingdoms.
If you want to do research, have a Google Drive folder full of material:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwF09f1afXWlRkRoYXM5eExfX2s
>>51313331
A good starting point might be the natural resources / local goods. So wheat, lumber, a style of cloth, a type of ale. Then figure up how valuable each thing is to your world economy
If you want a fantastical economy look at how Republicans think trickle down economics work. It's entirely mythical.
>Superhero setting
>Even remotely resembles modern social climate
>Humanity not being ruled by literal god-kings
>Concept of equal 'rights' exists when there is actual hard evidence people are not equal, not even super powers are equal either
>Thinking "good people and heroes will enforce equality and freedom" will handwave this problem when ancient normal humans in our own history were only relatively good and in many cases not good people at all
>not even mentioning there is little incentive to protecting the powerless but a lot of effort required
>ESPECIALLY if powers are even remotely hereditary
This is why I can't get into any cape setting, their cultures wouldn't be anything modern humans would respect or idolize ( except maybe facists, monarchists, and people with power fantasies )
k
Most folks are good at heart
IRL if people got superpowers I bet money 90% of folks would play superman
Besides, modern morality =/= ancient morality
>>51313259
>Implying other superheroes wouldn't fight for equality
Look at what happens most supers go power mad.
O.k I'm building a lizardfolk char. Paladin with oath of devotion. Wears light armour and functions more like a ranger then a face basher.
>Backstory is that a freak winter wiped out his tribe, forcing him to flee. He Traveled across the swamp looking for heat and Eventually the night arrived. he prayed to pelor who he had heard was a god of warmth for a last resort and was miraculessly filled with warmth for the rest of the blizzard. Now he's taken an oath to serving pelor.
I want some of those creative juices from y'all to make this go from 'meh' to 'above average'.
If it's shit tell me strait up, anon.
>>51313242
This sounds fine for your average level 1 pleb.
>>51313242
you could instead have him stumble upon a series of underground hot springs (perhaps he falls through a snowbridge to find them) making it somewhat more ambiguous whether it was really his god or just sheer luck that he found it. If you wanted you could have him venture out and find a few other survivors, helping him become some kind of folk hero among his people after his death
>>51313242
>I want some of those creative juices from y'all to make this go from 'meh' to 'above average'.
You're playing in DnD's uninspired generic fantasy setting. 'Meh' IS above average.
Also, more helpfully, I always think a character's personality and beliefs are more important than what they did before the campaign. You could come up with an awesome backstory but if it results in a generic purefag Paladin who wants to defeat evil then it was all for nothing.
No WIP thread on /tg/?!? Emperor's Teeth! That's HERESY!!! May Saint Duncan's thin layers protect us!!!

How does the red look, and should I go for an extra highlight on the red?
And just the red, holy shit it's called wipg for a reason, everything else just has a wash
>>51312804
I forgot to add I still need to do a touch up wash, just looking at the highlight quality
>>51312804
>>51312447
Paints are smooth, black and flesh works well with the red, but needs some contrast on the armour to break it up.
Inking the recesses and putting bone on the glyphs and picking out spikes might do a lot though.
Have you ever run or played a campaign where a player character was a time traveler to what was essentially their times post-post-apocalyptic future?
>>51312764
Yes. I played a time-traveler in M&M from an Age of Sail before the collapse of civilization 12,000 years ago.
Time-traveling is a really dumb power in M&M.
>>51312764
The beginning of Final Fantasy X seems a lot less simple when you describe it like that.
>>51312764
Literally my current character. Lived through the apocalypse, got trapped in a time bubble, got out of it a few thousand years later.
Which is worse: the traitor or the heretic?
>>51312476
They are the same thing.
>>51312476
>Kill a traitor before an enemy.
>Kill a heretic before a pagan.
>Kill a traitor heretic before all else.
>If you are confronted with a traitor and a heretic and you have but a single bullet.
>Shoot traitor, pistol whip heretic to death.
>Get more ammunition.
>>51312476
The Witch of course!
What do you guys think of tabletop simulator?
I've been having some fun with it, playing deathwatch overkill and killteam with random strangers is cool.
Has anyone used it to get a campaign going yet?
Easily the best /tg/ related video game ever released.
Plus it hits that sweet spot where it's just clumsy enough that you still have incentive to buy a physical copy of whatever game you're copyright infringing.
I can't imagine playing a real PnP on it is any fun at all, though.
Clunky to use, it really wasn't ment for the use most people gives to it
>>51312316
I've been playing around with it a bit solo and it's fun enough. I haven't played a whole game of anything on it though- it's slow compared to a program designed to play specific games (or maybe it's just me). Still trying to find more games and stuff to play on it.
