Guys should I get a BMW F30 320i or an older E90 335i?

Or fuck em both and get an Audio A4?

Get the E90 335i.
>>

E90 >>> F30 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A4*
*Not a bad car but also not really worth buying over BMW or Lexus equivalents
Basically the E90 retained a lot of driver feel whereas the F30 is pretty fucking numb, not to mention the 335i is considerably faster.

Hi

i need a bigger car and i've found a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven 95k km priced at 8k dollars.

Hoping anyone here has had past experience with the 2007-08 model who can advise. Frequent repairs needed? How is it on slippery/snowy roads? Specifically, what repairs should i expect to pay extra for since the car is right about 100k mark?

3.7 will not have enough power.
4.7.. well let me tell you about the 4.7
If the engine ever overheats you will need a new one. The rear diff will need rebuilding every 70k to 100k miles.
The heater core will leak if coolant isn't changed regularly. It isn't hard to do, just remove the seats and entire dashboard. If the heater core is going, then the radiator will fail as well, easy fix, just take the bumper off and remove. Might as well replace the water pump while you are there as it will fail.
Suspension will get soggy after 100k, good news it has struts up front.. so you will need to rebuild the front suspension.
On some of the 4.7s they throw rocker arms off. I have one with a failed valve stem seal I need to fix at some point very soon.
Interior is absolute shit.. like late 90s hard plastic hyundai shit.
Sunroof will start to freak out and not close properly.
There is a shit load of other stuff that has gone wrong with the car.
OH yeah, HVAC blend doors, the use plastic gears which strip and go clack clack clack constantly.
The 454rfe transmission is.. bulletproof. Its fine.. fucking fantastic actually.
Don't know much about the 5.7 hemi.

I would not buy a Grand Cherokee. In that price range I would look at a gm with a 5.3, the engine is cheap and simple. the automatic transmission is used in everything from bmws to trucks.

What do you have for garage lights?

I currently run a single 68watt CFL bulb for overall illuminations. It claims to be a 300 watt equivalent. My garage only has a single standard socket in the center.

I also have a pair of LED ceiling lights, 1000 watt shop lights (they do a great job heating the place up in the winter) and some random hook lights, corner lamps, etc.

Pic related is 8 years old, and its starting to flicker.

I'm looking for a replacement bulb, something that doesnt take 10 minutes to warm up either, and bathes the entire place in nice warm light.

CFL's are garbage. I've got two ancient 200w "equivalents" in my garage but I doubt they put out half that.

Don't even get me started on CFL floodlights. Worst shit ever made.

Hooked up a few of these, aswell as a small light above the main work bench

Use an old halogen worklamp when I need closer light or under the car. Sure, its not efficient or anything, but in the winter time its really nice to have the warm light

DIY BodyWork

Anybody here do their own bodywork? My car got fucked up in an accident and I can't make an insurance claim or afford to pay someone to do it. I was wondering how hard it would be to just replace my bumper and front panels minus painting them. Hell I could even just buy old parts already painted that color.

What would you do if your car/bus ticket got fucked up /o/

It's easy (depending on the car).

My 89 XJ (cherokee) was stupid easy. My 04 GTI is a bitch.

What kind of car. Also, you can find mobile painters on CL who can come and shoot your parts for cheap too.

Buy used shit. Cause most of the time you can the exact part, not that cheap imported shit.
>>
>>16097731
In theory, it should be easy. Plastic bumpers are rarely held in place by more than 8 bolts or clips.
>>
>>16097731
This >>16097743

Best bet would be finding a junkyard with that model car and see if it's possible to rip the parts off the same color car. Otherwise aftermarket body parts can he cheap but good paint ends up expensive.

A fun way to do it would be to buy the same car of CL with a blown engine or no title for <$1000, rip all the parts you need off, sell a few more big parts on CL for some $$, and eventually scrap the rest for $300. You can break even or even profit but ease of this depends on the car. My friend who flipped a lot of BMWs would do this from time to time but you need a place to tear the car apart as well as the money to buy the parts car.

Hello /o/. I have a question for you that I doubt you will be able to answer, but I wanted to get some second opinions on the stuff that I've turned up via my research.

Basically, I just turned 20 and am scared shitless of being a wagecuck for the rest of my life and wanting to commit suicide for the rest of my life. The only thing that makes me feel even remotely passionate is competition, and more specifically, going fast. I want to become a professional driver. I come from a family that is pretty rich, but more 'get a wagecuck job out of college and work but you wont have to worry about finances because when your grandparents/parents die you'll probably be alright', rather than oil-baron rich where I'd be set for life and could probably just start my own team.

What is the best way to get into racing with the hopes of turning it into something more than a hobby/gentleman racer?

git gud.

Either start from the bottom with actually grassroots racing (kart, dirtbikes, SCCA, etc) and be able to pull in sponsers like nobody's business or hope that you luck out on your Playstation and get called up to the Gran Turismo Academy.

/o/ whats the best way to stop niggers from stealing your car stereo?

I recently replaced my stock stereo for a touchscreen $500 dollar stereo and didnt think that I have to park my car every day 5 hrs in the street for my work
My car does have alarm but I probably wont hear it

Is there any security measures for anti stereo theft like that security bar but for stereos?

I just noticed there was no /bmw/ general as there usually is.

Im in the market for a 335i coupe from 2007-2010

Does anyone have a personal experience with those cars?

Anything i should listen for or take a look at when i inspect the car?

How can i tell if it needs a valve cleaning?

How can i tell if it has been abused or not?
Also /bmw/ general discussion is go

I'm in the market for the same car. More or less then 1 series as well with the same engine but here is what it comes down to.

History wise, the 2010's had less pervasive issues so some of the common replacements from earlier models may not have been done (HPFP, wastegates).

At that age, the car should have had plugs, coils, probably OFHG, OCHG, maybe valve cover gasket, maybe water pump. The injectors are under recall, so nice if that had been done. It should have had a carbon cleaning as well at that mileage. Battery may be due for a replacement as well if not already done. Older N54's besides the 2010 do not have the wastegate or HPFP warranty anyomore, so they are either in working condition or already replace.

Mileage discussed is around 50-60k.

Before you do any tuning just walnut blast and get fuel pump and cooling upgrades.
>>
>>16097672
Wwhy are you springing for the 135i? You cant fit as much tire, and its only marginally lighter, less lighter than the size difference would suggest. I dont dislike 1 series im just curious

I stopped making the generals because people kept complaining that there was always a general.

I notice that any 335is that I see are either just commuter DDs or are modded at least visually. So I think if there are noticeable differences on the exterior asides from tint there is a good chance the driver is a person who likes high revs. Just personal experience but it seems to be the case.

What's the worst thing to have in a car?

So I'm about to purchase an AA track pipe; perhaps I will wait to see if there is a Black Friday sale if I am patient enough.

Of course a track pipe is a cat delete, so I will need O2 simulators to run them without registering a CEL. The problem is, the simulators are $200 for an ounce or two of wires.

However, I have heard of a method of using spark plug non-foulers to distance the post-cat sensors to make them receive less emissions, and apparently this has been successfully done on E36s. The best part is that the mod will only run about $5, a substantial savings.

So, has anyone here done similar bypasses? Anyone running simulators? Anyone have track pipes at all?

My truck has a tune that fixes the O2 sensors and my fox body never had them - or a check engine light for that matter but have fun with your yuroputer.

There are tuning options like sending my ECU to AA and having the post-cat sensors disabled, but I am in CA so I would want to revert it when needed (I do plan for a Conforti Shark Injector tune after, remap on the fly).

That's why I am planning either non-foulers, or, if they do not work, the simulators. If I didn't live in CA I would just permanently disable the sensors. It would be nice.
>>
The non foulers have always worked when I saw them used however if you are planning on using the data from them in your tune then you could run into issues as the non foulers work by removing the sensor from the exhaust gas flow in order to reduce what they see to levels that are acceptable. Depending on the type of sensor you can make a cheater device with a new resistors. This worked well with old ones. I know in NC the non foulers are not illegal so you will pass an inspection with them on. In CA if they see them you might fail and get a fine for attempting to cheat the emmisions.
