Hi /o/.
Any PT cruiser owners around?
A guy at work was looking to get rid of his and iv always thought they looked cool.
How heavy are they on maintenance?
Pretty heavy like any Chrysler and their engine compartments are not only cramped but laid out in a completely unholy way to make their unusual aesthetics possible. Also they're generally shitty cars unless they're the GT package.
>>16094650
It is a neon, only heavier.
The chrysler neon, not the plymouth.
>>16094650
PT cruisers are pretty bad compared to most shitty American cars, which is saying something. Although that's still better than the average bong car
>Buy a car
>It stops giving a minutes into the highway
>Start panicking, did this guy pull a big one on me?
>On the side, car won't start anymore
>Check fluids, all look fine
>Went to a gas station to buy 90$ jumper cables, tried jumpstarting the car, it'd rumble but just couldn't start, can't rev the engine at all
>Me and my buddy's phones are dead so can't do shit
>Its been 2 hours at this point of us trying to figure this shit out, no one stops to help
>Go to gas station call CAA, they say alternator might've shitted, said it'd be an hour before someone came
>Waited half an hour
>Went back to the gas station a third time, this time to buy a 5L jerry can and fill it up.
>Poured in half, nozzle couldn't open the valve right or something so a shit ton poured out
>Tried again, wouldn't start
>Waited another 15 minutes, decide to fill in the other half of the jerry can
>It now runs
>Remembered that the fuel gauge was broken, but guy said he filled enoughfor the ride back so didn't bother checking that.
>Now noticed that car was shaking before lost rpms
>Should've realised was out of gas from the beginning and not no electrical power.
>Go back to gas station for 4th time to top off
Besides the hours wasted, it wasn't as bad as I was fearing, but
JUST...

>he wants to go get chinese food
>tries to start his car
>won't start obviously, starter doesn't even try to move.
>he calls his dad
>dad tells him his battery is dead because he didn't fucking run the car for 2 months straight
>comes in complaing to me, demands I jump start him
>fine...
>pull out jumper cables to try and jump him
>we wait like half an hour to see if thats enough to just get it started
>car still won't start
>he calls his dad and his dad brings out his big ass truck
>he tries to jump it with his truck
>the starter whines
>it starts
>his gigantic fucking subwoofer powers up and starts blarring music with the base all the way up
>the volume was up so far it drained his battery again and the car died
>unplugged the sub
>restarted the car
>it runs normally

You're a moron, but hopefully you learned from your fiasco.
>Receiving eight of the available 10 votes, the Acura NSX became the most universally acclaimed automobile in PCOTY history, and justifiably so.
>The NSX works, but it also knows how to play. Confident and capable, thrilling on both road and track, the Acura NSX is our 2017 Performance Car of the Year.

Depends on why you want a hatchback.
What's your favorite car accessory?
I like steering wheel locks.
>>16094500
Black Ice.
Really freshens the car up.

after a few weeks it's fine but the first week or so was hard, way too fucking fresh
I want to maximize cornering speed on the backroads. We get quite a bit of rain, so I'd like to have the jack of all trades between dry and wet performance.
Why shouldn't I get the Michelin Pilot Super Sport?
PSS suck, they get chewed up on the shoulder before the tread life is over, they don't perform that well, too much of a jack of all trades master of none that isn't particularly good in one department for how expensive they are. The Conti Extreme Contact DWs are way better imo for a tire like that.
>>16094483
this, the higher end contis are god tier at handling rain
>>16094457
>rain
Continental DWs
not even memeing, they are that good
Alright, so I've finally gotten around to learning 5-speed by heart over the last year in a 140hp FWD grocery getter. I've loved rally racing all my life and I want to get into local rallycross. (Oregon, Washington) Aside from the obligatory Neon/Civic/Golf, what would you recommend? The entry level is for vehicles below 2.5L displacement and FWD.
>>16094455
I should have mentioned that my budget is about 1500 for the car and another thousand for basic work. Keep in mind that in RallyX there's rarely a chance to go faster than 60mph so don't get stupid.

That b18 civic wagon is fucking cool.
Totally a fun fucking shitbox.
Maybe try for that second CRX if you really want one of those...
Do you folks really get to run the same tags on a vehicle after it is purchased?! That's crazy.
>alright, well it makes good power
>these things are great for the price you can pick them up these days
>good brake pedal feel
>is this your daily driver?
>has it been reliable?
>is this a short shifter?
>the throws are pretty long
>has it been modified at all?
>this is fast dude, this is good man
>the ride isn't too bad actually
>we're both big guys are we fit in here just fine
>I wish I could get the seat a little lower though
>pedals are nicely spaced for rev matching
>well, for a modified exhaust its not too loud
>yeah I had that problem with my vette
>do you track this car?
>uuh, we've caught an accord
>is he gonna let me by?
>is he gonna ruin my day?
>looks like he doesn't have canyon etiquette

Laptimes are cancer
I blame the GTR the this obsession with them
Just went on a trip to the mountains, maybe 7,500 elevation. Didn't drive it hard at all, but used the downhill descend feature where it holds it at 3,500 RPM or more. Could this have killed it? It doesn't accelerate at all unless you shut it off, turn it back on, then it eventually bogs down.
Car's had two transmission rebuilts/ replacement, and a blown head gasket. And other issues.
What are the most well built econoboxes made in the last decade or so. Looking at a basic Civic or Impreza or Corolla.
Jesus fuck. Not a good advertisement for Focus at least not the SE version. Yes, if the transmission is that shit it's not hard for me to imagine it scrying up the crank shaft to engine brake down hill hundreds of miles.
>>16094299
2 transmission rebuilds and a head gasket failure on an '11 plate Fiesta?
What the actual fuck are you doing to the car?
New model Fiesta's are reliable if you look after them. You clearly haven't looked after yours.
>>16094400
The mechanics ex has a '12 Titanium Focus. It had two tranny rebuilds too
> THERES NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
> slaps supercharger on lazy american big block
I dislike blowers on most cars, especially classic Corvettes, it ruins the look of the car.
>>16094298
>as he posts a picture of hack job'd sidepipes
>>16094300
Not a big fan of the chrome sidepipes either, I'm not sure why you are being so defensive.
How useful are these? I don't live in the ghetto, so I can't imagine anyone ever stealing my wheels. Why are these an option?
>>16094261
They're deigned to be forgotten abot completely, until you need to change your tire. You'll spend hours looking for it. Whether its because you need ot, or because the tire tech asked you where its at.
>>16094261
>why are these an option?
To deter wheel theft retard.
>>16094261
Great way to make money as a mechanic.

It's called itasha, pal. Translates to 'painful car' in gooklang. I was at a Subaru meet in SW Houston last week, and there were a few itasha'd cars. There was a Miku Evo and some older Impreza that I lost the pictures of, but I still have footage of the Highschool DxD FR-S. Dakimakuras and everything, cool stuff.
>>16094453
Here's another. These are just scrots of a video I took of it, so the angles are bad, but I'm on mobile and the file is too big.

Convince me not to buy a 2012 Charger Pursuit car for 7-8k.
>>16094168
You'll spend more de badging it and cleaning up the piss and vomit from under the back seats then it's worth
>>16094168
Police cars are well maintained but their mileage is never a good indication of wear on the engine considering they spend many hours, every day idling. Just something to keep in mind.
>>16094168
You'll be the bane of every speeding motorist out there. My pulse always rises just a tad when I see a blacked out Charger, the cops have effectively ruined that car for me.
