So, I have an old buick 307 with a hydramatic transmission, and it recently started giving me some performance issues.
When accelerating from a stop, it will shift quickly out of first with a lag/stall, then hard shift to second that'll chirp the tires.
When coasting at around the 25-35 MPH range, it'll continue to chug and act like it constantly wants to change gears back and forth despite smooth/consistent throttle.
It started giving me trouble earlier in the week, and yesterday I finally put in some Lucas Stop Slip, and I didn't notice any differences in the drive on my second day, which included a few miles on the highway (performed fine once it got up to speed), and then those same miles through the city.
I assume I'm looking at a rebuild or salvage replacement, and I'm going to have a shop do all the work. So, I was wondering how much more it might cost to get a manual column shift 3 speed put in, instead of another automatic?
>>16102317
If the car was ever designed with a manual in mind, swapping one in should not be too difficult.
Check the ATF fluid level, and look at the color. Report back.
>>16102317
Don't bother with a rebuild or a swap. Just fucking junk it
>>16102426
Shut the fuck up, this bitch is mint on the inside and only a few blemishes on the outside.
Ultra comfy.
I want this to be the car I fucking own until I'm 65 and blind, and I'm usually picky and bored of cars I get after my first year of ownership.

top fucking kek
wtf? i like rocket bunny now
So I drive a 08 Ford 150, my first car/truck fucking reliable, but I don't need a bed, so I'm thinking on getting either a mustang or a Cadillac.
My budget is $20k, I have the option of:
2016 Mustang New
2013 Cadillac Luxury, less than 35k miles
I will mainly drive in the highway. I was thinking of buying the mustang at first, but my mom just got a Cadillac SRX and I loved the inside, with all the leather, and the dashboard. How reliable are are the cars if I want to drive them for 6+ years?
Has anyone drove both, what were your thoughts?
$20k for a new Mustang? Damn son, I wish.
>>16102113
I'm assuming that the 2013 Cadillac is the ATS. I'd recommend going for a 2014 or newer due to the updates to the CUE infotainment system. Also the 4 cylinder turbo has reliability issues. I'd try to get the v6 and magnetic ride control.
>>16102145
Sorry I missed that, its the CTS, the price difference between 13 and 14 is really big for my budget ($5-$7k more), those problems are only for the ATS right?
What's the most useful thing(s) to have in car?
Fuel.

Cheetos
Am i allowed to put corn in here /o/?
Some cars can run on it.
>>16101930
so am i allowed to, anon? if yes, i'll report back in 1 week or so with dyno sheets.
I'm indecisive, yes or no?
anyone?
How bad is this? The tire is slightly flattened there too.
>>16101883
Meh. Get a fucking hammer and bend it back close to round. You'll be fine.
>>16101883
it's fucked. even if you bent it back it'll never be perfect and you'll lose bead intermittently.

Getting mixed messages here
/o/, what's your "driving philosophy"?
Do you like to "drive tastefully" or "drive it like you stole it"? I like both of them, but most of the times i drive just chilling it, just a few times i like to push to the limit maybe during night on curvy, empty streets
slow & steady
Depends.
>>16101882
>"driving philosophy"
This is stupid. Either you drive like you're sane and competent or you're an asshole who shouldn't be driving at all.

You can get a china 2554 turbo that'll be a perfect for for a 2.0l or there about. Should spool up nicely around 3-4k.
Why do Germans cars depreciate faster than Japanese cars?
Cost of maintenance.

>You know, back then we didn't have condoms so you really had to inspect them carefully for sores or bumps. We didn't have good flashlights either, like the kind we have today. You had to do it by moonlight and squint really hard.
What's a good first car that's cheap (up to £3,500), doesn't cost a lot to insure, has good upgrade potential and optionally has 4-5 seats?
Is it pic related?

Basically just buy the Elevate catalog.
First things you could do,
Turbo back exhaust + tune
Engine Torque Mount
That's pretty much it, it'll make you love the car. There's tons of shit you can do, but whatever.
