Hi guys

I am wanting to twin turbo a buick 3800 with two CT20 turbos. I know there is a lot of work involved but I can do all of this myself.

Does anyone have any experience with these engines?

It is specifically a 2001 commodore.

I would need to relocate following
>brake controller/reservoir
>power steering reservoir
>battery
>ignition coils

And possibly get a better radiator and oil coolers.

I am intend to get all the parts off the chinese to keep this very low cost. Still looking for titanium valves.

Am I mad?
>>
>>16107077
Not worth it, they're not particularly good engines.

>not even doing it properly with quality parts

Why?

Well O, my '10 escape has developed a misfire. It's got low compression in the first cylinder. (112) compared to the others (171-174). It's a 2.5 L non hybrid with 185k miles. Best guesses are it's a ring going bad. Otherwise, very clean car, only a minor rust spot in back wheel well. My questions for you are:
1. Pay a shop to rebuild my engine?
2. Get a lower mileage engine for around 500 and have shop do the swap?
3. Do the swap myself? (decent with tools and have most/all tools, but never done this in depth of work before, and it's my daily)

4. Trade the bitch in on a new or newer car?

I have about 10k I can throw at this, but I'll be cleaned out if I spend all that. (No emergency fund, but able to eat, pay bills, etc still)

Thanks /O/.

If you don't have much mechanical experience you should probably get it fixed in a shop, but don't let them tell you your engine is dead. But just out of curiosity, how did cyl 1 develop low compression? Was it engine knock? If it's engine knock then you have to get higher octane fuel. One more question, why is there a JZ piston as the thumbnail?

You can do the timing belt and water pump and shit at the same time. Should cost you around $400 in parts if you do with real brands, maybe $100 or less with eBay stuff.

It's for those who want a relatively sporty car but can only afford/want/need a small car.

Just because one car is greater than the other, doesn't mean the lesser car has no appeal. Case in point: Twingos
>>
>>16107010
France is 99.5% of twinge sales.
French government is literally passing laws every year and offering a constant "5k € take back your old car no matter how shitty" so that people buy twingo, and French manufacturer stay alive.

Those are the same price and the Mustang isn't even 10cm bigger.
>>
>>16106979
Yes.

No amount of money in the world could get me to touch a American/Australian ford EVER.

sup o

So i drive a lot of highway on hilly roads and before i would just set my automatic tranny car on cruise controls and it would automatically drop a gear when going uphill and rev to like 4k to keep the same speed

However, i recently got a manual car with 6 speeds and im wodering if i should down shift to 5th or 4th gear when going uphill

6th gear is about 3k rpm @ 70mph
5th gear is 3.5k @ 70mph
4th gear is 4k @ 70mph

Also if i just leave it in 6th gear on cruise control my car manages to maintain the speed but im afraid i might be damaging the engine by "flooring" it at a low rpm, so how do i know when the uphill is steep enough to warrant a downshift?

3k should be fine for most cars.
what car and engine size do you have?

If it actually spins at 3krpm there's no real problem, the reason autos drop down is because they need to spin the converter up to increase torque, in the manual you're not hurting shit until you're at WOT at 1500rpm

Joke's on you, here in Germany decades of moderate speeding are cheaper than a radar detector and the inevitable radar dedector confiscation and fine because our police are on the edge about them. Also two thirds of our highway network don't even have limits.

And it's a?

I hate cars. There is always something that goes wrong with them. I have 9,000 in the bank and I need to buy a new car. All the Tacomas in my range have 160k+ miles. All the F150s have the work trim. What should I get? Those pavement princesses do me no good. My dad showed me a Pontiac GTO he had for his second car.

Read the sticky and you'll be able to buy a very not-shit car for 9 grand.
>>
Call a shortbus to pick you up.
It should be second nature for you to be picked up in one since youre so obviously retarded.
>>
>>16106467
so you need a truck? If you hate having car trouble, then bear in mind that trucks start expensive in general, so if your looking for reliability, 9k will probably get you a decently reliable car, and a somewhat less reliable truck.
your post is confusing as fuck..... straight reliability? camry tier? what are you looking for because you haven't told us?

Honest question, how useable are the back seats?
>>
>>16106318
Honestly, I think they're just fine. I'm 6'1" and fit rather nicely. Girlfriend and I had just enough room for "activities". But I could see how trying to cram three people back there for a long road trip could be seen as torture. Two people is fine unless they're Sasquatch tall

Never had a Jeep. How hard are these old Cherokees to work on?

Guy wants only $500 but it doesn't run (says he thinks it needs an ECU). Has a lot of miles & its not 4x4, but its an early 90s two door & standard trans (only reason I'm considering it). Should I jump on it?

Mercedes to cut V6 production next year and introduce a new inline 6 series of engines to take it's place

>408 hp stock
>battery operated turbocompressor creates instant torque with no lag
>starter built onto the rear of the crankshaft allows it to be counted as a "mild hybrid", negating displacement regulations in many countries
>no accessory belt required due to directly electrified accessories, leading to reduced length, allowing it to be put into compacts without negating balance

M256 is the new god engine.
