DIY BodyWork
Anybody here do their own bodywork? My car got fucked up in an accident and I can't make an insurance claim or afford to pay someone to do it. I was wondering how hard it would be to just replace my bumper and front panels minus painting them. Hell I could even just buy old parts already painted that color.
What would you do if your car/bus ticket got fucked up /o/

It's easy (depending on the car).
My 89 XJ (cherokee) was stupid easy. My 04 GTI is a bitch.
What kind of car. Also, you can find mobile painters on CL who can come and shoot your parts for cheap too.
Buy used shit. Cause most of the time you can the exact part, not that cheap imported shit.

In theory, it should be easy. Plastic bumpers are rarely held in place by more than 8 bolts or clips.

Best bet would be finding a junkyard with that model car and see if it's possible to rip the parts off the same color car. Otherwise aftermarket body parts can he cheap but good paint ends up expensive.
A fun way to do it would be to buy the same car of CL with a blown engine or no title for <$1000, rip all the parts you need off, sell a few more big parts on CL for some $$, and eventually scrap the rest for $300. You can break even or even profit but ease of this depends on the car. My friend who flipped a lot of BMWs would do this from time to time but you need a place to tear the car apart as well as the money to buy the parts car.
It's a 2005 civic si
