Why are American car designs so shit compared to ours yet they get to continue on with production.
I mean look how much better our shit looks
There is something off about American cars. like they are trying too hard.... and it shows,
>>16094103
>t. butthurt ausfag.
>>16094103
Size of market mainly.
We're a miniscule market and geographically remote so it's too expensive to ship overseas
>>16094103
>like they are trying too hard....
They're trying really really hard to be European, which they shouldn't.
America > yurop.
An old photo of the work in progress. 98 s10 custom paint, rollpan, chrome exhaust (not pictured) and I just picked up some 15" "hotwheels" redline wheels for it. Thinking about dropping it 3 inches and low profile tires. Opinions and post your build below.
Nice s10

good, Pontiacs were trash. The GTO was sort OK, but that it. Glad Pontiac is dead. RIP in pieces

If they were still alive would the Solstice hard top be any cheaper?
Probably not.

going to check this out today, anything i should be specifically looking for besides a bad head gasket? would 2000 be a fair offer or is that a lowball? he said hes not completely firm on the price

you pay 5000 not a penny less faggot thats a TOYOTA STUPER
>>16093324

This means it has rust to some degree. Be wary.

fuck me i paid 2200 for mine in non running condition. but then again their prices are stupid here https://asheville.craigslist.org/cto/5813440788.html

I'm about to buy a Kia Rondo EXV6 for 5k (CAD)
165000KM, great exterior condition, excellent interior condition. Inspected and comes with a 2 year warranty. Driving it was nice. Radio has all kinds of stuff, phone, aux, etc. Old (current) car is a volvo s40 2005, breaking down and getting too expensive to fix.
Anybody knows if they have a good reputation? Fuel efficient? Googled all that stuff but still wondering.
>>16093140
What kinds of things are breaking on the Volvo? Stop considering sunk cost and keep it. It's probably just wear items anyway.
>>16093140
rondo in spanish means round
Mom had one of those. put 70,000 miles on it problem-free until it got badly rear-ended.
Can someone explain to me the benefits of a rotary over a V8?
>worse fuel economy
>no torque
>unreliable
>no chance of making it over 125,000 miles
>sounds boring
>burns oil
>have to let it heat up and cool down
>way less power for the money
Is it just a muh feels thing?
>>16093138
>No chance of making it over 125k miles
But mine has 200k on original engine
Also torque is irrelevant for a performance car. Stupid burger
>>16093143
torque is relevant, it is just made up for by gearing when dealing with small motors.
>>16093138
i many parts of the world, people pay taxes based on the displacement of their vehicle. So their is naturally a demand for small motors. the advantage of a rotary over a traditional 4 stroke is due to the nature of the 4 stroke cycle. When a 2.0L 4 stroke morot completes one revolution, it displaces 1.0L of air, When a 1.3L rotory motor completes one revolution, it displaces 1.3L of air. Since the 1.3 rotary displaces more air per revolution than a 2.0l 4 stroke, it stands to reason that the 1.3l rotary will make more power at a given rpm. so if you live in a displacement tax county, you can either get a 1.5L rotary, and pay no taxes, or get a 3L v6 and make roughly the same power, but now you need to pay higher taxes.
The short version?
The rotary is light weight, simple and makes more power per displacement.
A traditional piston driven 4 stroke is more reliable, gets better mpg, and will make more torque, which allows for lower gearing and less rpm when cruising around town.
/o/,
I need your help and collective knowledge to get a car in running shape again.
It's a 1974 plymouth duster that belongs to my relative; they stored it in a garage but my relative is no longer in business with that service and brought his car to our driveway (him and a friend pushed it all the way here).
I don't know much about the car aside from what my relative told me; 74 duster (88K), slant six engine (225 Cu.), automatic transmission, and all round drum brakes. I know it ran when parked 6 to 7 years ago, but since then it's been in storage. Also about a decade ago, my relative got the car repainted and from looking underneath it, I cannot see any signs of rust and rot to the body and frame.
Off the top of my head, I know we will likely need:
-New battery (the terminals have leaked acid and solidified)
-ALL fluids to be flushed and replaced (engine oil, ATF, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and window washer)
-Drum shoes replaced
-Carb rebuilt
-Engine compression check
-New spark plugs & wires (not sure if the cap, rotor, and dist. need to be replaced)
-Possibly tires (they didn't look cracked and didn't have flat spots as far as I saw)
-Fresh fuel (will it run on unleaded gas?)
-New filters (fuel, air, oil)
-Possibly new vacuum lines (they didn't look rotted away or bitten at)
Regarding the brakes, in the brake reservoir, there are two chambers, the one closest to the engine has fluid in it, but the rear one does not; my relative says when he has put fluid in it, it leaks out, so we know somewhere (in the brake line?) it's leaking.
Is there anything else that I'd need to check? Also, please go easy on me - I am by no means a mechanic, but I do like to read about cars and fiddle with my own when I need to.
Thank you so much for your help, and please, if you need any additional info I will do my best to provide it.

Don't be stupid, change oil fire it up with new battery and go. If nothing else is wrong, and there probably isn't check the tire date. Doing all that other shit is useless without even starting it.
>>16093080
You will need $500 and an afternoon
>>16093098
Thanks for the reply. Just the engine oil? I did check that it and it is black as night (and low). The tranny fluid is hardly red/pink, so that's why I think it (plus the other ones) need to be replaced before even attempting to start it up.
>>16093108
Can you elaborate a bit more? What will I need to buy with the 500? Thanks
What is your opinion on a 2010-2014 Land Cruiser 200 with 5.7L V8 in it?
I'm from Dubai and fuel isn't a problem for me.
Any LC owner/ driven one here? Thoughts?

What do you want to know you stupid sand nigger? Theyre the number one choice of allahu ackbars to blow themselves up in. In fact tyota is the number 1 choice of all nigger terrorists to kill themselves in.
Bought a car that was stanced. How do I unstance it ?

Kill yourself
Remove the camber plates and spacers. Throw them through the previous owner's front window.

I'm looking to get a car with flip up headlights, preferably from the late 80's and remminiscent of an AE86 but not memey shit.
What do you guys consider the best car with pop up headlights?

fuuuu I forgot about the AW11. Those lines man.

Hi /o/
First time here. Thinking about selling my car to put towards something a little more fun.
What do you guys think of a 70's Fiat 124 Spider, MGB, MG Midget, or Triumph Spitfire? Which one would you get? Would you recommend I get something other than what was listed?
Thanks
>live in southern california, looking for a classic under 10K, not looking at extreme wedges like a datsun z or corvette or anything big like a GTO
>also, pls no bully
Don't buy one of these as your only car.
>>16092832
would you recommend any of these as a secondary car?
I see alot of MGBs and Spitfires on CL for cheap, like 500 dollars cheap.
Thing is you will have to replace everything including wiring harness'.
Ive seen ads that had multiple cars as bundle pack for 1-2k.
So good luck.
Alright goys, time to spoop.
Talk about anything auto related spoop, highway stories made up or real, touge ghost, and other spoopy shit.
>>16092804
I'll give you as many bumps as I can OP. I love spooky car stories.
>>16092804
I got a story my mom told me ages ago.
>be her
>be teenager
>it was the mid 70's if I remember
> out with friends, just went to see a spooktacular movie
>driving around looking for something else to do gotta keep the night alive
>about 5 friends all packed into her old boring 6 cyl Mustang (I think that's what she had at the time)
>friend 1 says "hey let's go to that devil place on the bridge"
>everyone being young crazy 70's pot heads agree
> get to this bridge in the middle of fucking nowhere, supposedly some woman killed her little boy and drowned him under said bridge
>locals say if you park your car right in the middle, kill the engine and put in neutral, spirits will move your car along the bridge
>bridge is perfectly flat according to locals
>she kills engine and waits a bit
>hear typical animal noises in the night
>all of a sudden something smacks the back of the car like someone literally slapping the car with an open palm
>car fucking jolts forward like it's being driven by a kid learning to drive stick
>mom freaks the fuck out goes to start car
>engine sounds like its flooded
>finally get it started and tire screech the fuck outta there
They all had a good laugh about it after they calmed down, but my mom thinks they blocked the lurching forward part from their memories to cope with it. I mean really, how does a car lurch forward that violently without any power or being hit from behind?
Mom believes in ghosts and thinks an angry spirit slapped the shit outta her car. Didn't try to convince friends because she didn't want to spook them
Sure, here's a story I heard on the radio a few years ago. Not exactly automotive related.
>be some guy
>like travelling with wife
>on a road trip, driving
>wife wants to take a piss
>stop by the road, middle of a forest
>wife goes to take a piss
>doesn't come back for quite a while
>waiting around for 15 minutes she still isn't coming back
>go search for her
>find her in a bush
>72 stab wounds
>she sat on a hedgehog
Hey guys,
I wanna know the reliability of this motor so far I'm at 122k miles I put 4K on it so far
>>16092694
Do the services and it'll keep working forever.
Pro tip, supercharger need their own oil changes. Look it up.
These l67 motors are pretty solid. I've seen them go up to 200k miles
Be careful not to run it hard when it's cool. I had a non-supercharged one, and I cracked the water jacket on the upper plastic (intake I think, but I don't know why the water jacket would extend into the intake) portion doing that.

My AC pulley is shit. Can't afford to drop cash on a new compressor or clutch. Debating on whether to pick up a bypass pulley or if it's possible to go around it with a shorter belt... Little help?
It's an 08 impala 3.5
Doesn't look like a shorter belt will work. Get the bypass pulley.
Can the WP pulley be reversed? The only 2 other belt arrangements I can think of... A and B
