>>16104296
Fuck you old man, this bus is just fine
Got into my first ever accident today /o/
>stop and go traffic jam on junction
>lady in mid-2000s ford escape rolls into my rear end at max 5 mph
>get out and check for damage
>literally nothing
>wipe away some dirt to see for sure
>nothing
>lady seems terrified as she is obviously struggling financially already with a shit box and poor dress
>her escape doesn't shift gears right or something, since she could barely reverse to check for damage, and her brakes are shit or something too
>no visible damage
>first time ever in this situation
>knew calling the cops would be a bad idea because traffic jam and no damage
>after a few minutes of examining the bumper and talking, tell her to just be careful and say goodbye
>right after traffic jam starts to clear up and we go along our merry ways
Now I'm just wondering if I made the wrong choice. There is nothing wrong with my car, stopped when I got off the nearest exit just to make sure. Even checked brake lights and such. Not even a scratch or dent, but I contribute that to the front bumper of a ford escape, literal plastic. I'm honestly grateful there was not a dent or scratch since I've had my car for over 2 years now and it still looks the same as day one and I take a lot of pride in keeping my car presentable. But I should be okay though, right /o/? Please.
Pic is not from today

The chick you rear ended might claim something off you. In a few months you might see a letter from her lawyers demanding compensation for "injury" you caused her on that day.
>>16104287
I didn't rear end her. She rear ended me.
Always at least file a police report. It sets a record of the incident and helps your insurance defend you if it ever comes to that.
what's the smallest american awd sedan i can buy?

>wanting a small car
why
So I'd like a new DD to lean on while commuting for work and just having fun.
Ideally I'd like an AW11 or an 86, but I don't want to pay the meme tax or be stuck with something someone has dogged out.
What other options do I have for 80s/early 90s Japanese, rwd, manual fun?

sc300/400 Sc300 did come manual but hard to find. Sc400 never did but swap it.
Miata
Has anyone bought a car sight unseen before? I want this Miata since it appears to be clean enough and fairly priced for a 97M Edition.
I've been looking for almost a year for a half decent Miata in my area and I've given up hope. So now I'm resorting to shipping a car up to me ;_;
Here's the car:

It's leaking bumper oil visibly in the pic.
AVOID
Yeah those NAs had notoriously leaky bumpers. I have to top off my bumper oil biweekly. And the car is pretty much shot if you run dry and your bumper seizes up.
>>16104120
Do a VIN check
If you can talk to owner and get the full run down, and try to see it in person
seems like a really low price for a clean car, and other than the leaky bumper it looks decent

STANCE, brought to you by SEMA 2016
That's called rat rodding. Boomers favorite way of destroying automotive history.
SCRAAAAAAAPE.
It looks like they at least made an attempt to correct the camber so it's not a dangerous, darty deathtrap.

this just confirms that stancehaters dont know shit
I am not 100% sure if this would be the thread for this question but here goes.
I have been looking to wrap my car, I have looked at all the main stream kinda wraps from camo to chrome. I am not sure what I am really looking for but if something is posted that I like. You will most likely see it posted here in the coming months.

Hi /o/
Recently had the rear driver bearing replaced in my car, all was well for two weeks until last night, where I was coming home from work and the bearing partially collapsed.
Due to the speed I was going, the time it took to get over to the refuge lane seemed to be sufficient to generate enough heat to weld the bearing on. The car had to be recovered and is now undriveable.
I've been told by the same mechanic that fitted the bearing two weeks ago that it's gonna need a new stub axle, hub and bearing.
I feel like I should be at least entitled to a free repair, since bearings don't fail after <100 miles, and I really can't see how this is anything other than poor workmanship or manufacturing error on the bearing manufacturer's part (which the mechanic's business insurance should cover?).
tl;dr: car part that was replaced by a mechanic catastrophically failed after less than two weeks
What do /o/?
Uh fucking make him pay for another shop to fix Everything and sue when he inevitably says no?
>>16103883
Most of the folks I've asked say I have no way to prove it was poor workmanship, is that BS?
>>16103906
Regardless, the bearing shouldn't have shit out after less than 100 miles.
Tell him to fix it or else.
Don't mind me. Just going to dump my van progress so far. Stuff that's left
>wire in solar

What the fuck is the purpose?
If you ask them WTF, what do they tell you?
Alright /o/, let's settle this.
Is *****Top Tier Le trademark**** fuel worth it?
My current opinion is yes. I mean why would a group of manufacturers take the effort to spend money on fuel research and all the other costs of introducing an initiative to promote higher quality fuels? I don't think they did just as a way to jew people harder.
>>16103502
The only difference is the octane rating.
They are forced by the law to have the same cleaning agents in each type of petrol.
If your car can't adjust boost/ignition timing based on what octane fuel it has then it's just a meme.
>>16103502
>They are forced by the law to have the same cleaning agents in each type of petrol.
That is false. The law only requires 5 mg/l detergent. Top Tier has 20 mg/l.
>>16103526
This. The Canadian government went after Shell and other companies a decade or so ago for lying about their lower octane gasolines not having detergents and trying to get people to by fuel they didn't need and could potentially damage their vehicle. It's the law here at least.
I'm getting towards buying my first car and being 18, I was looking at the relatively cheap to insure VW Beetle (the oldest model, not the fruity new ones). What do you think?
>>16103460
Are you planning to drive tho?
The only guy I knew to successfully daily a beetle had a dozen in constant repair and rotation. That and my gfs boomer dad had a fully restored one back when.
If you have to get a vw get a bus
Old cars need old car maintenance because they have old car problems, but Beetles are super fucking simple to work on. Two bolts and the engine's out.
Cheap to insure perhaps, not extremely cheap to own (frequent small repairs) and probably not cheap to obtain.
Also unsafe and slow as fuck, although they can be built up into impressively quick cars due to their light weight.
If you want a first car that will force you to learn how to wrench, it's an OK choice... assuming you can find an affordable one that isn't rusted all to hell.
