DIYers and grease monkeys welcome

>04 Mini Cooper recently started over-revving on the expressway
>got off, stopped at a light
>green, start taking off and proceed toi shift into second
>am stopped by what I can only describe as an obstruction in the gearbox
>muster the strength of Thor and proceed to jerk the shit out of it into second
>car makes clunk noise and can no longer provide power to wheels
>drift off to side of road and call daddy AAA
> go home and cry

what does /o/ think it is? I'm guessing something in the tranny or clutch blew, as I checked my shift cables and they seem to be good. The clutch pedal still has hydraulics.

I'm going to guess that the flywheel, clutch or pressure plate has broken. Does the car rev in neutral fine or make weird noises?
>>
>>16100152
Yeah, the car revs just fine, just doesn't get into gear. I popped off the shifter cables and the shifter went loose as I assume it should. I popped them back on and now the gears are all fucked up, meaning there is no semblance of any gears to slot into, it feels like the left half of the shifter is walled.

Spent a good hour taking measurements, drawing plans and checking whats available of materials to build a box to keep sand & stuff in to get some weight on the rear wheels of my truck, then realised it would be retarded to do that before putting on my new tires and seeing how the thing actually performs

I decided to swap out my headlight bulb and accidentally used the wrong screw to reattach my plastics and pierced a hole in the gas tank. I found out that it was recalled for this reason too. So now I'm leaking gas everywhere and need to buy a new gas tank

Only nice thing about it was Cummins spent a decade developing a v8 diesel for a half ton and Fiat which newly acquired Dodge wouldn't let them have it. So Nissan had to quickly throw together a truck to get the engine.

One of my friends picked up an 86 toyota van like in the pic for $600 with a bad tranny. The fucking madman drove it 5 hours back (normally 3 hour drive) going 45 mph. Anyways he's gunna fix it up, and convert it to a camper of sorts. Any advice or knoledge of these? Toyota van thread/campers/ 80s toyota general

Parents had one back in the day. Back seats fold into a bed, and ours had the dual sunroof package and ice maker. Seriously underpowered, almost 15s 0-60mph and that's with the manual. Getting the transmission rebuilt will cost more than the van.

What's the problem? AWD offers superior handling.

Do any of you know anyone that makes knurled sockets like pic? They give a little extra finger grip for free spinning bolts but I wasn't able to find any new manufactured ones easily.

Hey guys, my jeep liberty took a massive shit and now I have to get a new car. Normally I would have gone for a wrangler...but I am kind of disappointing with jeep (I literally threw money at this thing every 1000 miles).

I am looking for a gas efficient reliable car...and I know it might seem stupid but I wnted to see what your opinions would be? I am torn between Subaru Impreza/outback, Civic hatchback (fucking hate Honda but reliability and all that shit) and some people are trying to convince me to get a Hyundai because they aparently reliable, besides looking like shit.

Thank you in advance!

I'm assuming head gasket was shot. Not an expert, but for fucks sake. Oil shouldn't be misting down from the sky when you remove the oil cap. Fucking craigslist strikes again.

good god. what did they do? throw it in neutral and over rev it? I had a buddy with over 350k miles on his 4af with a blown head gasket. had a milk shake in his radiator and he drove it over 65 miles a day every day no problem.

I'm now driving a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. (pic related)

>tfw no garage

Anyone know this feel?

>can't work on car in comfort and warmth
>can't work on car at night
>constant worry of people fucking your shit up
>can't buy a nice car because no where safe to put it

If I got a car worth looking after I'd have to keep it in my work car park which is like a 20 minute walk, means I'd need two cars for the job of one. Or I guess I could get a scooter.

>tfw I have a garage tent
love that feel
>>
>implying a garage = comfort and warmth
Mine has no insulation or heating and a huge air gap between the door and the wall so insulation or heat wouldn't do shit anyway. It also used to sit above the level of the road, but they've built up the road over the years so now my garage is downhill and all the melt-off in the spring flows in unless I put sandbags in front of the door, which defeats the purpose of having a door.
>>
>>16099410
Damn didn't know they existed. I'd love something like that but I live in a urban area with nowhere to put it.
