Garage Lights

CFL's are garbage. I've got two ancient 200w "equivalents" in my garage but I doubt they put out half that.

Don't even get me started on CFL floodlights. Worst shit ever made.

Hooked up a few of these, aswell as a small light above the main work bench

Use an old halogen worklamp when I need closer light or under the car. Sure, its not efficient or anything, but in the winter time its really nice to have the warm light

Is that your garage? If it's not drywalled wire in some more light sockets or receptacles to plug lights in to. Judging by the extension cords strewn about it looks like you could use some more outlets. Or get something like this and plug in whatever you want.

I rent, and the landlord is a lazy beaner who wont do jack fucking shit.

It has a 40 amp fuse, and and two outlets. I ran an extension cord to a table, and then a second one that powers my mobile work lights, or corded power tools.
The rest of the lights just plug into a slitter.

I can run about 2000 watts before a fuse pops.


I have plenty of lights, I am simple looking for a nice, high output, low wattage bulb. The Feit C4000 that was posted earlier seems to be what I'm looking for.

I currently have 3 in my garages, 1 2car garage and 1 single/workshop. Im really happy with them and have them on outlets run by a switch. Only downside is there solid units so the lights cant be swapped out, but for the price theyre easy enough to replace the whole thing.

I recommend you get the most watts that socket can handle
then combine with a large reflector/diffuser

something to note about fluorescent lamps and large led arrays is that they are prone to flickering due to 50 hz power delvery
it is not apparent visually but the eye muscles in the eye still react to it and can become fatigued

the normal solution is to run every second bulb on a different phase so they do not dip all at once
or capacitors can be used to smooth out the dips

Ive got some daylight simulating LED and it's shit. Too dark to work on stuff when it's overcast; nothing at night. I've got a portable halogen light and an extension cord. Would like a better bulb for the main light since I'm in the same single socket boat

CFL is on the way out so you shouldn't use them. You should take a look at the $36 shop/garage LED light at Sam's Club (and other stores such as Costco). It looks like one of those long flourescent tube style hangling lights, but instead of two long fluorescent tubes, it has bright white 6500K (daylight) LED. At $36 it is a good deal although it was $28 before Sam's decided to profiteer on them for being too low-priced. To their credit, Costco left them lower-priced.

The advantage of daylight is that you have full color fidelity in your garage/shop and you could also use them to grow something especially if you're in CO or WA. These lights are very bright too. Because they use so little power, you can easily wire two of these to your single light fixture box and never worry about current draw.

Since your garage rafters are exposed, these LED shop lights are ultra easy to install pretty much anywhere. They also come with instructions on how to hang them of course. You can attach standard 2 prong 120VAC plugs on these lights and then plug them into the fixture shown at >>16100226 . That way, you can take these shop lights with you when you move. This is the $36 re-branded honeywell light in the sams stores.

I need a single bulb that can do a good job at illuminating the entire place with nice, WARM light.
Preferably something in the 4K range with at least 3500 lumens.

It is the only socket that's on a switch. Its the first thing I turn on when I enter the garage.
