Remember the guy ACA had on as an auto-expert?

Well even he's had enough of the bullshit lies the state's spewing
He's now ranting about NSW highway patrol.

>As all aussies already know, vicpol is under investigation now for their highway patrol shaking down soccer moms with the whole bribe scandal and the guy they impounded in a blizzard and left in the middle of nowhere.

>Queensland cops are also in trouble for raiding a charity function for sick children to get their defect hardons going.

>Meanwhile in western australia a road safety study was published by a reputable research team...saying that governments are making the road more dangerous by having everyone look at the speedo over the road. The state revenue office literally posted a press statement telling them to essentially fuck off, revenue is important.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-26/speed-enforcement-detrimental-to-road-safety-study-finds/7965082

Also in NT as you all know, they dropped the unlimited speed sections of the highway...despite not a single fatality being recorded during the test period.

What can we do to stick together, stand up for our rights as a group and tell these cunts to FUCK OFF.
Highway patrol have zero accountability and are now going after anyone, not just bogan seppo cunts.

The roads are being made more dangerous because everyone's fearing cops hiding in trees with fucking CAMO to get them for one over (yes this actually happened) and are watching speedos, not the road.

If everyone speeds at the same time and simply refuses to pull over, the cops will look like unreasonable dicks

Even more so if everyone drives perfectly and all traffic disruption and aggressive driving comes from the police, who might actually attempt to cause dangerous accidents over a fucking speed limit

Hey /o/, major problem.

For the past 9 months I've been apprenticing underneath this guy who's been an auto tech for 40+ years. He's incredibly accurate, knows just about fucking everything there is that comes to cars (or if he doesn't in a rare case, he just figures everything out).

Then there's me, I never even changed the oil and filter on a car before I started apprenticing. I literally knew nothing about tool names, voltages, how to replace a radiator, etc.

Over the past 9 months I've learned a lot of things, I can change the oil and replace the filter, maybe replace brake pads/rotors, got most of the names of all the different tools down, etc. But there's still a giant burden on me. I'M A FUCKING IDIOT.

It takes me so long to get the hang of learning or even remembering things when I try to fix cars. even when I'm 100% sure if myself, I always forget to do small but important things, which my boss has to come in and fix himself.

My boss is always telling me "You'll never be an auto tech if you can't remember x" or "You need a better memory and common sense if you want to be an auto tech". He's even told me "I've taught a lot of new people when I worked at the dealership, but never any like you" (he meant it in a bad way, obviously).

I'm seriously putting in 100% when it comes to this shit even though I started with no knowledge of this field, but it feels like it's all for nothing because I just cannot stop fucking everything up.

Can anybody else relate? Any advice?

Tl;dr I've been learning how to fix cars for the past 9 months with no prior experience from a really experienced auto tech but it seems I just fuck up constantly whenever I try to fix anything. Wat do?

Down a bottle of prevagen and get back to work
>>
There's two types of techs, ones who learn by repetition and ones that understand how the car works well so can figure it out quickly. If you can't do either you aren't ever going to be a good tech, simple as that. Figure out what you think you can do well and go from there. I've worked with people that have become really good without actually understanding what they are working on, but they are good at paying attention and have a good memory. I'm the opposite, I've done well for myself because I am good at figuring out the systems and why they do what they do.
>>
>>16100747
Ha, hopefully that stuff works.

>>16100748
I guess I'd more of the repetition guy. It just sucks because I love reading and learning from books, but apparently that's all wrong according to my boss.

Looking to buy one of these for under $20k. They all have like 12,000 miles on it. But i'm not sure if its a meme car or is it legit?

I can't decide. People and reviewrs act like Tesla's are the greatest car on the planet but we all know its a fucking meme car. Overpriced trash. We all would be better off buying ford focus and getting the same performance over the Tesla.

However, this BMW i3 is apparently BMW quality and affordable for me. The alternative i'm looking at is a used Golf or maybe a BMW 1 series if I can find the right one.

I like the idea of saving money on gas but also enjoy driving a stick in nice car. Would I miss it?

What experience we got with electrics?

So I bought a 2011 Crown Vic in Canada for a pretty good price. I want to import the car to the States but the people at the customs said they either need an import compliance letter from Ford or they need to see a tag or some inscription on the car that says something about US EPA and DOT regulations.

I have looked under the hood and found a tag that says stuff about the US EPA, but I cant locate anything on DOT with the car...

My other option is to take it to a ford dealer in Canada and have them inspect it, pay them a hundred bucks so they can send the letter request to Ford and wait a day and hopefully there arent any recalls they have to settle. Then I take it to the customs for them to look over and approve.

Importing my last car was simpler, GM just needed my VIN and they emailed me the letter for free. Fucking Ford needs money and inspections and shit. I even called Ford offices directly and no one knew what to do and transferred me in circles.

Anyone know where I can find some DOT identification on the police crown vics? I'd like to avoid those jackasses at the dealerships if I can.

Why would you go through this much trouble for a clown vic?

Hi /o/, I've got a 1991 Toyota Celica SX (GT in USA) coupe in manual with the 5SFE and it has started surging at idle.

Does anyone have an idea on what it could be.

Probably a vacuum leak somewhere. Does it go away once the engine is warm?

I'd start at the PCV valve - see if it's plugged.
>>
>>16100424
Nope, even when it's warm it surges, it doesn't surge while I'm actually in gear and driving.

I haven't checked the PCV valve yet, will check it out when the weather clears up

Anyone experienced in Kill Switch?

Trying to switch from chip insert to a simple switch.

Unfortunately the kill switch is pretty old so there's no info on it.

But the relay hookup seems weird as fuck

>>
>>16100241
What's weird? You power black and white tab with opposite tab hidden by the fat wires and the relay connects the fat yellow and pink. Whatever is the hidden wire is +12v from whatever his kill was. Or the white is +12v thus also the black, and the opposite is ground.

To switch just put a rated switch from fat yellow to fat pink.

Who /speedyspeedlover/ here?

Every night is Wangan Midnight for me. My car isn't super fast but I I sustain 120mph for 30 miles until I get home, and exceed 140mph when no one is around.

I do this daily. I haven't gotten in trouble yet but I'm well aware of how antisocial it is but I'm addicted to high speed.

Alright so long story short
>own nissan versa
>realize i let the stealership fuck me over for ever getting it
>now want a new car
>mustang might not make a reliable dd
>otherwise want manual trans with engine that has more power than versa
>ford focus s or se models seem to do the trick

now from what i've gathered and this dandy website, the focus is just about the same as the versa except for a slightly more powerful engine. looking at reviews it makes a good dd but it's not much for a sports car type

is this a good idea to change car?
>financing versa and still owe about 7k

Pay off the versa, build a bit of credit by doing so and pick up a used Focus/Fiesta ST in a year or two with a better finance rate than you've got now.

Live and learn.

i do want to pay off the versa just to end the misery.
but if i'm going to wait another year or two i might as well save up for something even better no? i'm not a huge car guy, but driving a manual is a lot more fun than an automatic

For the first time I never thought of being interested in a VW product.
brother in-law has one of these "MK3 Jetta TDI" and says he can drive 6 hours straight and it'll only cost him 20$.
I was looking for a daily commuter the other day and these came to my mind. I did a bit of research and haven't found conclusive answers..
>are they reliable?
>do they have dem EM PEE GEES?
>Does it break/electric gremlins that volks apparently suffer from?
If I end up buying one, It will also be my first diesel. I know next to nothing about diesels except the fact that they don't have spark plugs.
A lot of engine codes came to my mind when reading up on these: ALU ALH
I really want the Mk3 one, I like the style of it and it's boxy "volvo-looking" body.
thoughts?

>>16100135

They are reasonably realiable, but they do break somethimes, though it's rarely the engine itself, mostly stuff like the starter motor, wipers, etc.
I did 850 kilometers using 42 liters of diesel, don't know how does that translate to MPGs, but yeah, they are economical.
