If antifreeze is just water and propylene glycol, how come it poisons people if the FDA says PG is safe for consumption?
Checkmate atheist
Because it's ethylene glycol not propylene glycol you vaping faggot
>>16197759
FDA is all lies. The antifreeze companies don't want to spend their shekels on FDA approval so the FDA says it is unsafe.
Now go drink a gallon of coolant. None of that 50/50 watered down bullshit either.
Ethylene glycol. Poly Ethylene glycol, and polypropylene glycol are all different things. Make sure you take chemistry before you dropout of highschool ya fag.
I will be checking out a 2001 VW Beetle TDI with 246k miles on it later on today.

If it's manual, transmission will shit the bed
I've known 2 people whose key fob just decided to stop transmitting the needed security info when in the ignition, so the engine was a paperweight until they paid over $1000 to get a new fob and reset the electrical

It's a DX.
What's /o/'s thoughts on this car? Is it worth picking up for $3-5k? What problems should I be wary of?
Why did it do so poorly in sales when it was introduced? Was it really that bad?
>>16196931
its just a normal subi so the normal crapola
damn 90s jdm will never come back so many weird wonderful cars i didnt even know about this car
>>16196931
Slow and reliable, worth 3-5K if it was properly maintained and has no rust. Probably didn't sell well because before the svx Subaru was know for making slow boxy cars that were simple and reliable. Subaru was known for family cars opposed to sportier cars, if which the svx was neither at first glance. The svx not selling well probably led Subaru to go back to making more wagons and less edgy design ques (legacy and outback and then forester)
I'd buy one if one would come up, and if I had the money
>>16196931
They can be "not bad" with some work, but it's a long and (relatively) expensive road. There's mistakes both big and small that were made at the factory that have to be corrected. The transmissions are shit, so you'll have to swap it with one from specific Legacys (ones with Flat-6s). And the brakes are prone to fucking themselves up, so you'll want to replace them with slotted rotors. That's not all the big shit, and then there's a bunch of little shit. I would not recommend one if you don't have a nice amount of disposable income. These cars cost the equivalent of over 50k in today's money, and they have the expenses to boot. It's a shame, really. They're just so damn cool.
I'm thinking about buying a 95 Volvo 850 Turbo. It's a $1000 do I go for it /o/?

not a bad price.. but make sure:
*the timing belt has been changed recently
*the PCV system has been serviced in the last 3 years or so
*the charge pipes aren't coated in oil (a little oil film is okay)
>first things to do:
*Tuneup (new plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor)
*get a v70 TCV,; stock 850 one is 8-10 psi of boost, v70 one is a pierburg and rated to around 10-12
*flush the ATF
*watch based robert talk about p80s

Post car related youtube channels you like to watch with short descriptions.
JSR cars- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsrSw3Kh-XY7Hm4EIC1hCeg
Actually pretty enjoyable to watch. Sort of like haggard garage but with less money and faggotry. Really diverse group of cars. Avoid if you dont like irony.
Tom's Turbo Garage- https://www.youtube.com/user/turbomiragedude
Nice in depth videos. Really cool v8 miata build in full detail, and I mean FULL detail. Also great grand national review.
Chris Fix- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCes1EvRjcKU4sY_UEavndBw
Lots of simple tip videos. He's just starting a drifting build series. Good to watch if you ever thought about getting into drifting as it's basically filmed from a beginners perspective.
Jay Leno's Garage- https://www.youtube.com/user/JayLenosGarage
If you dont know about this channel you probably should. Jay Leno talks about different cars, that's about it, and it's fantastic.

Regular Car Reviews
I like them because they're like the good top gear reviews.
He doesn't focus on the spreadsheet stats internet argument part of the car. He focuses on the soul, heritage and the story of the car.
Pretty much RLM of car reviews with shitty camerawork.

Hey guys im thinking to buy one of these sexy beasts. MSRP is different $70,000 Vs. $55,000 but if i go with Shelby ill probably end up turbocharge her. Wanna know what you guys thinking is it logical to do so or not thanks for your opinion!
You're not going to turbocharge either. I'd go with the Shelby because flat plane v8 and windows.

>>16196649
Guys. What kinda of car is this?
Looks like some kind of wierd Dodge Stratus
>>16196624
that looks pretty complicated
Wrenching general
Mostly making it cause my car developed a problem:
So yesterday I took it around the twisties a bit and pushed it and everything was fine and super fun.
Then I left it standing for around 2 hours and when I got back in it the brakes were gone -
the brake pedal was superlight and any braking was done only at the very bottom and even then it amounted to maybe 10-20%.
I suspect a leak but on the drive back it didn't get any worse.
I can think of two possible causes:
>I've had new disc brakes installed by a workshop and I think maybe they dun goofed
>the brake lines were rusty as fuck, maybe they rusted through
I'm planning on checking which one is it and then either asking for more repairs/complaining to the mechanics about their botched job.
Is there anything else that might cause this? Master cylinder failure? What do you think I should do?
MC Failure will be caused by bypassing aka fluid going around the seals. the pedal should sink to the floor. Other causes of this are hydraulic leaks.
Remove reserve vacuum assist with engine off and hold your foot hard on the brake pedal if it slowly sinks you have a defective mc or hydraulic leak. low spongy pedal is caused by air in the system.
If your car has rear drums it could be that they need to be adjusted as that also gives you a low brake pedal. basically get off your ass and start inspecting
First check your brake fluid.
If there's no pressure on the cylinder (pedal goes light) it has nothing to do with your brake disks, it's obviously a hydraulic problem ie you're losing brake fluid.
>pushing a shitbox on twisties
>having 20 minutes of fun at the cost of brakes
Hey guys I just got a really nice 2015 Veloster Reflex (dual clutch tranny, leather interior, backup camera, sporty suspension) but the engine is pretty weak (turning off traction control helps a bit)
I've never upgraded an engine before so where should I start? What part is the best horsepower improvement for the price?
>veloster
>dual clutch
>backup camera
>""""sporty"""" suspension
